Get dirty folks.
I live in Winnsboro, SC. I can’t tell you the last time we got 6” of snow let alone 8”, but we lose power in less serious weather than that. The last time I saw 8” of snow I was at Bragg. I feel for the good people (tough or not) in Texas. The good thing is there are a lot of good people down there with the knowledge to help. I pray everyone down there stays safe.
Thanks for sharing, some of us need to hear this from time to time. I’m from a little further south........the rio grand valley. Where I’m at we have electricity, but no running water. Going on 2 plus days now. Being prepared in general though always helps in times like these. Stay safe man and thanks again for sharing.
And we all thank texas for having an electric grid that is totally separate from the rest of the country. SUPER smart guys. Oh and we also thank all the emergency warnings that didn't get sent out to warn us about the possibility that there might be outages. Rolling blackouts? Never seen those here. Since monday morning at 1:25am there has been no power at all. For many days in a row. There was no on and off power. It was just suddenly gone. The lines at grocery stores are around the block for relatively empty shelves. No other stores are open here in austin. No gas stations are open either. 300 people got carbon monoxide poisoning just trying to stay warm and some died as a result. 4 million people in texas without power for multiple days. This was bad management, neglect, not taking the threat seriously and warning people ahead of time to plan for it, and bad policy. I know people that have been without power for 6 days. Monday evening austin energy turned off its contact numbers and the local 311 emergency system. This could have been avoided and people would have been better off for it. If we were connected to the country wide electrical grid we could have gotten help ahead of time, got energy from neighboring states, had emergency systems already in place with information to those dealing with this for the first time. We could have saved lives. I'm all for independence, but at what cost?
Thank you for this; just sent to my wife. She is in San Antonio while I’m at Benning...I tried to tell her similar things but sometimes people need to here it from someone else.
Growing up in Austin, I totally get it. I saw snow one time growing up. And, it wasn’t nearly this bad. Pulling for y’all from Nashville. My family is all in Texas. My brother is Austin PD. So, I’ve been hearing the stories. Keep fighting Texans!

I work in Power Generation in Texas and this is a pretty good breakdown from Tim. The grid is getting more stable hang in there, Generators are doing all we can to make as much power as possible. Things are getting better but it takes time.

Just moved to TX, been in Georgetown 2.5 weeks then this storm. Im from CO so yes we can handle snow. Frigid temps and then ice freeze for 18 hours leaving cars covered in 3-8" thick ice and ground, doors, windows frozen to point of inability to open, lack of any power then add no water - well hell no there is not a person who can handle that. This was rough. Great update!!!!! Just ordered generators and non-electric heaters
Prayers for you all!! Many people in these parts of Wisconsin are very concerned for you all down there!! We are feeling very blessed we are so prepared and equipped to deal with our cold and snow.
Important follow on to this, learn from your successes and your failures. What worked, what didn't, what would I do next time? I already have a list of gotchas to go fix. Biggest problem was we got caught low on seasoned firewood and didn't have backup heaters. We were able to ration and hustle up enough to get us through, but should have been better prepared. No power or water, no problem. No heat for an extended period of time with temps below 0, big problem. We've got plenty of cold weather camping gear to not die, but why be unnecessarily miserable.

Philadelphia is keeping you guys in their prayers and hoping for quick response to what's happening to you guys down there. Keep up with the updates Tim. We will do whatever we can from up here to help.
I have seen texas's reactions when i was stationed in san antonio, to snow storms. Typically, you would see snow, inch or so from hill country area on north, and it woukd be gone by lunch, so it wasnt as taxing. But too true, the state, outside of western high country, do not really experience COLD temps. A week of below freezing straight, is a shocker indeed. Hope folks stay safe down there.
I’m from and still in NJ, your situation was ours after hurricane Sandy. I had no power for a month and it was freezing. I had a 1 year old at the time and had to stay at my parents house. My apt is all electric so no heat. My parents house had a small generator but it was not enough. We boil water in pots on their gas stove to bathe in. It was terrible. So I feel your pain. Stay warm stay safe sending prayers to the gods for warm weather for you
Thank you be safe everyone been working on all the things mentioned I am former military and being halfway prepared already was great now I know what to work on next my family and I will work on not ever being unprepared for this it has been a great wake up call to show us where we need to improve our preparedness for future problems I have been going to several peoples house to help I am a plumber and I have skills I am using to help those around us to stay warm and safe we should all help those around us. We all should be checking on as many people to help protect those that may have difficulty doing so for themselves if possible. please be safe. stay warm move forward and learn from the situation try to be prepared for anything moving forwarding life.
Dallasite here: did 55 hours with no power, didn’t break 20F outside for 36 of those hours. As soon as my power came back, I ran every heating appliance I had. Stove, oven, toaster oven, kettle, other kettle, hot plate. Full blast with a box fan cooling everything. Interior ambient went from 34 to 60 in 90 minutes. 2 hours later *both* of my condo neighbors’ fire sprinkler pipes exploded and drained the whole system into their spaces. Thousands of gallons of dark, rusty biocide water that has been sitting in a pipe for 20 years. Both units are absolutely totaled, and put 4-6” into my hallway, flooding the other 9 units on my floor and transmitting damage to all of the units below. Shortly later, the building water was shut off because there were *multiple supply leaks*. Since it’s “not an emergency”, plumbers can’t get to us for at least a week, so we have power now but no water. 85 units are now indefinitely without clean water because ERCOT and ONCOR said that it would be “rolling blackouts,” and we had not one second of voltage for FIFTY FIVE HOURS. The only thing that saved us was an alcohol burner and a camp stove. We only dodged flood damage because we saw the water within seconds and jammed towels under our front door. I was within seconds of having everything I own being ruined in 6” of sprinkler water. And now neither neighbor can turn their power back on, because the remaining water and residue is extremely conductive, and might start a fire, which will not be put out because the fire suppression system is empty because it drained all over the floor. Because we didn’t have power for 55 hours and the state let us freeze because gas was too expensive. Limiting energy use is great if you don’t need it. But sometimes you need it. Recognize when you need it. Don’t live in a condo.
Stand strong brothers and sisters in the south. I'm in Washington near Idaho/Canadian border. This is how we live in the north 6 months out of the year. You will survive.
I’m not going to lie I started watching all the Texas stuff online laughing thinking welcome to the north. But then I realized three things 1. As a nation now more than ever we need to come together and have pride and compassion for one another . 2. I had no clue the extent of what was going on 3. People up north (Ohio here) are probably no better prepared for a hurricane or a Forrest fire than they were for this Praying for Texas god bless you and stay strong
1st off Tim Kennedy total respect for your service to our country. that being said to point to green energy as the 1st issue with texas's power issues borderline false considering what other Texas officials have finally admitted. i'd point out that any system that cant maintain with a 10% loss would be doomed to fail.
Texan here. Was sad 2 hear of the deaths & devastation of my fellow Texans. The storm was a small inconveniance for my family, personally, but relatives had their kids come stay here & they came here to eat hot meal, get hot showers & leave their kids here so they could sleep & play & stay warm. While others were standing in line for water & food & looking for gas, many came over to avoid that. Its called Crisis Preparedness. Check with any LDS church to see how to do that. And let this past crisis wake everyone up to the need to put aside just for events like this. NOW is the time to prepare for disaster.
Thanks to the knowledge that I got for many many videos about prepping we were fortune to not only stay home with plenty of food and power thanks to 2 generators that run my furnace tv fridge microwave and my younger kid xbox Yes he was playing most of the time by him self but it's ok yes the house stand out at night but I have not only cameras around the house my alarm system never went down plus my beretta m9 m4 and shotgun in case society collapsed around us also help us to have a retired marine in the house because his apartment got water damage I don't know how if the building is new but anyway he stay home and help around the house So yes we were lucky thank God for that
Sharon Kingwood Texas staying strong helping thy neighbor several neighbors are without power for a few days now and plumbing is just ridiculous pipes are bursting left and right. Home Depot and Lowe's has sold out on all their plumbing supplies let's hope plumbing companies do not price gouge
No worries. From OR but lived in San Saba for a couple years. I’ve seen gnarly sleet/ice storms coming down the plains and slamming into Lubbock like nothing we have up in Pac West. In addition, I’ve also been in Portland, OR when a snowstorm dumped 4 inches and both the city and people were NOT prepared. People who’ve never dealt with snow/ice storms are never prepared.
The blackouts really screwed us over out on the farms... We were okay when they started and we were getting 45 minutes of power and 45 minutes to an hour of blackout... then we lost power in the area for about 4-5 hours and the water pumps and lines all froze up. We got power back and went on a 1 hour on 3 hours off rotation, and so we were without water for the house and cattle from Monday night until the following Saturday; the pump finally thawed out on Friday and we managed to get water going outside, and carried in water in buckets to flush the toilets and luckily I remembered the old trick of filling the bathtub and we had to ration that water all week to flush the toilet once a day at most and for bathing. Since we fixed the busted pipe under the house last Saturday I've been doing laundry and dishes the last three days virtually nonstop to catch up with all the stuff we used. Thankfully the coldest the house got was the first night in the 4-5 hours we lost power was down to 55 degrees inside. After that we actually turned the thermostat up from the normal 67-68 to about 70-71 to warm the house up thoroughly for the hour we did have power, in which we warmed up our meals and watched a little TV, for the following 3-4 hours we'd be without power with no heat or lights or stove or water. We were actually really fortunate compared to some people and situations, but it just goes to show the overreliance on the gubmint and power companies is a foolish bet. I bet they're gonna sell one H3LL of a lot of generators in Texas this coming year... I know as soon as I can I'm going to be looking into getting one. I don't need to run everything, but I *DO* need to be able to keep the water pump running and the faucets out at the cow troughs and in the house dribbling so they don't freeze up, and any heating devices like heat lamps or heat tape installed on plumbing operating to prevent freeze-ups. My sister lives in town and they lost power for nearly 48 hours and then when they got it back were on rolling blackouts, but fortunately living in town had her stove on city gas and city water, so they didn't lose water until the water tower ran low due to no power to the city's water well pumps to refill it and from use and loss to broken pipes. They got pretty cold in her house and she was worried they'd have broken pipes. My brother lives on a farm nearby and he lost power for a slightly shorter amount of time (they're both just west of Houston-- we're halfway to San Antonio from Houston) and his water well froze up, but he had a bulk propane tank for his home heating, stove, and water heater, so he had heat in the house and could cook when he wanted. We're all electric but I think I'm gonna get me a good old Dearborn propane heater and move one of the old farm propane tanks over by the house and have it refilled to provide heat if we can't rely on the power company to keep us supplied... Later! OL J R :)
You're correct. It's so easy to judge people when you're not in that situation. But hopefully people learn from this, and covid. It's not that hard to make sure you keep a little extra food and water in the house. Generators are cheap these days. A small 2000 watt gen, you can get for 3 or 4 hundred dollars. That'll keep the frig, heating system and a couple of lights on. And look into a little fuel storage. Good video, stay safe.
Live in Ohio and years ago we had a ice storm that ripped down power lines all over Columbus Ohio. Went without power for a week and it was in the single digits the entire time so I can really relate with what people in Texas are going through.

Thanks for the positive and informative video. You gave me some ideas to deal with not having water here in Austin Texas. 🤙
Well said, sir! Panic never helps. Assess, plan, intervene and then reassess. This is the framework for nurses- works in everyday life as well. Prayers for safety, calm and peace!
i would be writing down a list being prepared everything that went good and then all that went wrong and what can you do better next time take the time now to get prepared for what may be next. little things like this can help us prepare for next time for something bigger #stay ready stay prepared.
To you Brother and all Texans there, I am praying for you all! The Texans that I hear about and believe in are strong and are fighters. Keep the faith and let us all learn from Murphy's law.
Pays to be prepared. Stay warm Texas, love from the shores of Lake Erie
You're probably the most eloquent, honest, and focused person who's talked about this. *Viking Prep* and *Mike Glover* will yap all day to say half of what you said. I live in a Bronx (NY) apartment. I have a chainsaw, a propane heater, 400+ of tools and parts. How some own homes and don't know how they work is beyond me. I went to a vocational high school, and did two years of AmeriCorps NCCC.
A solid man trying to help. Well done T. Kennedy, well done.
California is not independent, and rolling blackouts are a way of life there.
God bless you brother continue to educate the masses ... #godspeed
Best of luck, stay safe and I'm sure that the Great State of Texas will recover!
Tim Great Video Thanks .
Time To Pray .
God Bless Everyone .
Hope it gets better there for you all soon.
Love from Australia. 👍🇦🇺
Thank you for this; just sent to my wife. She is in San Antonio while I’m at Benning...I tried to tell her similar things but sometimes people need to here it from someone else.
Best of luck to you guys ❤️thinking of all texans by saving energy Tonight
Growing up in Austin, I totally get it. I saw snow one time growing up. And, it wasn’t nearly this bad. Pulling for y’all from Nashville. My family is all in Texas. My brother is Austin PD. So, I’ve been hearing the stories. Keep fighting Texans!
Brother Tim, I have room in my house here in Fayetteville, NC for you and family if needed. Prayers for you, your family and Texas. De Oppresso Liber!!! Amen
Thank you for the update sir!👍
I understand I am in the desert of Southern Arizona. We don’t have the weather that you guys have, but we aren’t prepared for cold ice or snow. Our prayers are with all of my brothers and sisters in Texas
Tim Kennedy 2024
FUCK YES-tulsi gabbard As VP!
No one 2024. Stop looking for a leader, be that leader!
I agree with that because we need leaders who LISTEN to the People & who can just be freaking honest regardless of who it offends or disagrees with what they are saying!!!#TimKennedy2024
@@OLLIESMiMi ? Listening to the people... you would offend one side or the other.
Thanks Tim you always tell it like it is.
Good encouraging words Tim
I work in Power Generation in Texas and this is a pretty good breakdown from Tim. The grid is getting more stable hang in there, Generators are doing all we can to make as much power as possible. Things are getting better but it takes time.
Folks please listen and learn. Invest in yourself and your family to survive. Forgot the new 2021 new car. Invest in survival. Our country is in troubling times. God bless everyone affected God bless you guys in Texas and God bless America
Our hopes and prayers go out to you guys down there
As a son of Texas myself, I know first hand how tough Texans are. My thoughts are with you all and I know you will all see this through.
Idiot films vertical
Thinking about you guys from Ky. Goodluck. Stay strong , stay busy doing whatever you can to improve your situation. Thers always way to improve your situation no matter how much it seems not. Doit panic, pick 1 thing at a time don’t overwhelm yourself. Goodluck.
Born and raised in South Austin... this is another level for us
Love & praying for y'all brother
Hope you and the family stay safe and warm brother.
Shout out from the Dallas Metroplex 🦾🇺🇸
Rockies Still Chilly 🥶 as well.... ❄️❄️❄️ My Door is always open for you and your family TK ... I’m a prep too, I’m always keeping a 3 day supply for my neighbors... just in case. Side note❤️ “So much for college education energy engineering in this day and age of technology” ❤️
Tim,
We're here in Galveston. It's an adjustment but we were prepared.
Wishing you the best there in Austin.
Let me start by apologizing. I am guilty of ragging on Texas about the weather... Always thought you guys were a little bragish but I didn't realize the extent. Philadelphia is keeping you guys in their prayers and hoping for quick response to what's happening to you guys down there. Keep up with the updates Tim. We will do whatever we can from up here to help.
We're often a little more than a little braggish about our state. Seems a little ribbing is taken too seriously now days.
Adapt and overcome. Have an “ALL THE WAY DAY”
I have seen texas's reactions when i was stationed in san antonio, to snow storms.
Stay Strong Texas From Pennsylvania! Wish I was able to help somehow.
Definitely not a laughing matter. People are dying and it seems like more will.
I wish I could help you all.
This is a good warning for anyone on the fence about being better supplied for the next situation.
Stay strong bro! Sending luv from New Mexico..❤️✊🏿
Stand strong brothers and sisters in the south. I'm in Washington near Idaho/Canadian border. This is how we live in the north 6 months out of the year. You will survive.
I’m not going to lie I started watching all the Texas stuff online laughing thinking welcome to the north. But then I realized three things
1. As a nation now more than ever we need to come together and have pride and compassion for one another .
2. I had no clue the extent of what was going on
3. People up north (Ohio here) are probably no better prepared for a hurricane or a Forrest fire than they were for this
Praying for Texas god bless you and stay strong
Yep
Who and why
Great advice, thanks for the video 👍
1st off Tim Kennedy total respect for your service to our country.
that being said to point to green energy as the 1st issue with texas's power issues borderline false considering what other Texas officials have finally admitted.
i'd point out that any system that cant maintain with a 10% loss would be doomed to fail.
10% when stretched to the maximum on MW capacity is a lot different than 10% on an ordinary day.
God Bless Brother!
There are worse things comming !!
Great vid tim .. we are tx strong
Thanks to the knowledge that I got for many many videos about prepping we were fortune to not only stay home with plenty of food and power thanks to 2 generators that run my furnace tv fridge microwave and my younger kid xbox Yes he was playing most of the time by him self but it's ok yes the house stand out at night but I have not only cameras around the house my alarm system never went down plus my beretta m9 m4 and shotgun in case society collapsed around us also help us to have a retired marine in the house because his apartment got water damage I don't know how if the building is new but anyway he stay home and help around the house So yes we were lucky thank God for that
Solid .- Great way to share the info so others may live.-
Sharon Kingwood Texas staying strong helping thy neighbor several neighbors are without power for a few days now and plumbing is just ridiculous pipes are bursting left and right.
Home Depot and Lowe's has sold out on all their plumbing supplies let's hope plumbing companies do not price gouge
Glad stuff here in El Paso didnt get as bad hope everyone else in TX can get through this🖖🤙🤘
Words of wisdom from someone who has prepared for the unthinkable. The rest of the country should pay attention. It can happen over night.
Oh people are paying more attention now. Still a lot of sleep walkers .
Here in Laredo and it's coming back to the late 30s. You guys north of us, keep safe and stay warm.
I saw your post today man that does stink and hope it gets better soon!! Be safe
our prayers are with you!-Bessemer,Alabama
Live in Ohio and years ago we had a ice storm that ripped down power lines all over Columbus Ohio. Went without power for a week and it was in the single digits the entire time so I can really relate with what people in Texas are going through.
You the man Tim.
When in doubt....pull out the ole FM!
