This is one of the greatest games ever created by humanity. I've been wishing for a sequel since it came out. At least a remaster, something so that more people can play this masterpiece of art.
While it is fun having chat interaction in games like these, I do wish chat anons didn't send in lengthy messages in the middle of lore-heavy cutscenes that talks over dialogue
I feel the whole 'Meme' bit isn't really understood and laughed at cause these days the first thing people think of are internet memes, funny shit that you share on the internet. The Memes they're referring to are the ones coined by Richard Dawkin a while back, stuff that's passed down from one generation to the next. I've seen pretty much no one actually take it seriously which is kinda bad since it's a key point to the games theme, which is actually quite philosophical for how bat shit crazy the game itself is
It's because they have the brains of amoebas. If you pay any attention at all to the rest of his speech it's very clear he's not talking about internet memes, but they're all too busy laughing and asking their chats "wtf is with this guy lol" to actually listen to him
Not knowing that they aren't talking about Internet memes instead of Richard Dawkins meme's like you mentioned is unfortunate since it's a key piece in entirely understanding what's trying to be said, though different people have been able to still interpret varying amounts of it without knowing. Can't really fault anyone for not knowing about Richard Dawkins and since it does work to a certain degree most of the time through the lens of internet memes though not nearly as well I can see why people just let the stuff that doesn't fit slide, especially since it's a kojima story and people are used to his writing being everything from absurd to profound anyway.
I mean without knowing about Richard Dawkins version of meme it just sounds like he’s talking crazy talk. He literally starts off saying free will is a myth and religion is a joke so I dismissed a lot of what he said lol. Now that I looked it up I understand his speech. Thanks for the memes
To be honest he rarely pays much attention to plot/dialogue and doesn't read nearly anything, then turns to chat for a short form explanation of things which wildly varies in accuracy and actually absorbs maybe half of that. Going beyond an extremely minimal engagement with plot and writing just isn't something he does. Not trying to be mean here people can enjoy their media however they want but watching his playthroughs for plot/insight that even reaches surface level just isn't happening.
I feel visceral sense of annoyance when people can’t figure out the Sundowner boss fight. It’s easy, provided you’ve managed to understand how blade mode works, which you should do at that point

Then I entered the LetsGameItOut mentality of "Only one way to find out" and tried to parry everything. Could not parry the plasma cutter to my disappointment.
