Many years ago when the officer who interviewed me asked if I was planning on visiting my boyfriend in the US I was surprised that he knew even though I haven't told him about it. I was always told to not admit having a romantic relation with anybody in the US when applying for a visa because they could deny you, but something made me nod to the immigration officer that day and I whispered "yes" to him. I inhaled deeply and sighed quietly because I thought I just screwed myself, but then the officer said, " congratulations you have been approved for a US VISA please hand me your passport for the Visa stamp process" then he gave me a piece of paper explaining the next steps. I cried in joy infront of him and I thanked him like 10times before I left lol. He was smiling and laughing and he knew he made the right choice because now I've been married to my then boyfriend now husband for 5 years and I've become an american citizen! So moral of the story is, be honest. Honesty is the best policy and never stop dreaming!

do you have to have a round trip flight already booked to show when exactly you will be traveling and returning to your home country before your visitor visa interview or can you book a flight after the interview once you know your visa was approved? Also how long until you find out if your visitor visa is approved?
If they keep ur passport ur visa is Aproved. If u leave with ur passport in hand u are denied. Why would u buy the ticket before without know if u will have the visa? So no,dont buy it

Examples: You are too young (person was 28 years), you are too old ( person was in her 50s) and both definitely were going to return to Colombia after a short vacation trip in USA. Oh, and my Colombian spouse who had no criminal history, is a student in university with family in Colombia and had the money thanks to me his American spouse ($72,000/year pension). He was told you need to visit another country first....Lame excuse!!! So, I have started to complain to my congressmen and senators about the treatment of foreign spouses by ISCIS.
Giving an excuse at all was probably just a courtesy. The consular officers do not need to provide any reasons at all. Good luck with the Congressman. If that obtains any positive results, please let us know.

I would not advise booking flights without visa in hand USCIS could say denied you could be out that money unless it for business a employer who paying.
Yes, for most visas one should hold off on booking flights ,etc till the visa is granted and in hand. Visitor visa is a wobbler, as having solid plans, and reservations, might be the tipping point for approval of visa in the first place.

He did not even ask about security for coming back home. Sa. I do have a good job. I did see my son more than 30 months ago and grandson turning 2.not been seen yet. When must I tell him al this if they not given you a change. 5? I then it's not been proved.

You do not "have to have" a round trip booking. You can certainly wait until after you know the results of whether or not your visa is issued.

Proof that you have "ties" to home country, that demonstrate you would NEVER leave it for good, you would never leave to immigrate and stay in USA..
