I started going in this pub in about 1976. I only lived about 20 minutes away in wesborough walking. A couple in the fernsides and then down to the ( John f ) it was so so different and friendly! Lots of biker's, punks, students, hippies and straights. Never eny bother or fighting. Ted and sue kept everything running perfectly! I must have been in that pub 2000 times plus over the years. Especially 1976 to 2000. My favourite drinking oil of all time!! 😎👍
What a fantastic testament. I wish I could have experienced it when it was thriving. I'm sure many others will enjoy reading your remembrances. Thanks Paul and I hope the film triggered plenty of happy memories for you.
Gossy. Glad to see you are still kicking around. Long time since we hammered CB900s and KR1s,s around the countryside at highly improbable speeds.
The John F has a very special place in my heart. As a biker I used to frequent it for over 20 years on and off.
Yep, jukebox was legendary.
Moved out of the area 20 years ago and am saddened to here of Sues death.
Lovely words and thank you for sharing your thoughts. And thanks for watching!
I wasted my formative years drinking there, don't regret a second of it. Hope Ted is doing well and my condolences to him for his loss. RIP Sue. Wonder if BarbedWire the barmaid is still with us? Its been a long time.
VEry nice comment Jonathan. I bet those thoughts are echoed by many. Thank you for taking the time to post and for watching the video.
Was a great pub enjoyed the time I had in there
I think his first wife ran the poacher on Bradford rd
Which also was a good pub
Thanks a lot for sharing your remembrance of spending time in the JFK. I'm sure a few people who read this will know the Poacher. Everybody I've heard from on here and on FB say what a great poub it was in it's day. Once more, thanks for taking the time to post your comment and for watching.
Leslie reynolds. That name rings a bell.
I bet Ted still has the best juke box in Dewsbury
I'm sure you're right. Would love to know what he's got on there. I bet it'd make a cracking playlist for the car.
Really enjoyed this story, thank you!
Many thanks Patrick. I'm very pleased to hear you enjoyed the film. Thanks for taking the time post your comment and for watching.
A great pub many happy memories in there thanks for sharing this video.😊
It's great to hear from you Michelle. So glad you enjoyed the film. I hope it triggered a few happy memories for you.
How interesting. Thank you 😊
So glad you enjoyed the film. Thanks very much for taking the time to post your comment and for watching.
Think his surname was Rushforth........his wife Sue died about 4 years ago....not sure but I think he's about 92 now.
Thank you very much for sharing this it would tie in with the paper described Ted as in his 80s.
their used to be a pub across the road called the Anchor ,majority of the pubs have gone in Dewsbury
Thanks Martin. Did it get demolished when the ring road was built?
@@DodgersTrips no i would say about 15 years ago , that area of dewsbury used to have
a lot of catholic irish and i thought that could have been a reason why it was called the JF
That's interesting. Thanks for taking the time to share your local knowledge Martin.
Used to drink there all the time; my favourite place. Used to be heaving in the 90’s and it still did have the best jukebox.
Never knew how it came to be called the John F. Heard the rumours about the club in the basement but think that was 70’s-80’s, before my time.
Ted and Sue were lovely people, it was a friendly place and a good rock community.
Thanks so much for taking the time to post your remembrances of the JFK. It's brilliant to hear from somebody who knew the pub and was a regular. I'm sure others will enjoy reading this too.
That is very cool.....
Cheers Brian, hope you're ok. Thqanks for watching. It would have been great to go inside I bet it's a right time capsule.
In the 1980 s they did a nice pint of cider 😊
Thanks Nigel great to hear from somebody who'd been in the JFK.
In Chaddesden area of Derby, we used to have a John F Kennedy pub
Thanks very much for sharing that Paul. It would be interesting to know if there have been others too.
Last time I was in there when I was 18 I'm now 43 it's a shame
It does as though it was a great atmosphere there in its heyday and people only have good things to say of Ted & Sue. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I hope the film revived some happy memories for you.
At one time it was called John F Kennedy II, you can just about make it out.
That's interesting to know. Thanks very much for sharing that.
Your not on a pavement 😂
If you're on about the dual carriageway, I realised later that I shouldn't have been walkign there.
