Thats similar to how I justified my Durge bard/wild magic sorcerer. Born with magic fueled by chaos(thanks dad), but after a life of death my Durge just wants to laugh and sing now.
Oh wow. This is actually the literal build I had in mind yesterday when I was trying to think of a Sorcerer dip for a College of Lore Bard. I called it the Singing Storm though as I used a dark-skinned female Duergar to evoke Storm from X-Men.
I do basically this build but as a Lore Bard to 6, Drac Sorc to 5, and 1 Wiz. It's kind of annoying missing out on the level 6 sorc boosts, but I also want spells higher than level 3. Plus, her signature move is Otto's Irresitable Dance so I kind of need that. If you don't like using the Wiz dip fair enough, I know it's kind of cheesy, but for me it's mainly for Otto's. Basically her dad is also a sorcerer and was very happy his daughter inherited the power... but then aghast when it turned out she preferred prancing about with a flute. "It's NOT a phase, Daaaaad"
I ran this as Bard 2 / Tempest 2 / Storm Sorcerer 6 / Evocation Wizard 2 finishing with a 20 INT. A glass cannon, but felt super powerful by the time the build finally came on line. The flip side being that the build didn’t really feel powerful until level 9 or 10.
Ah yes, this here is a great representation of the downsides of multiclass builds. While you're low level and farming up all the classes/features/spells you need you can feel lack luster. Finally once you hit that crest where the build starts to take hold, that's a great feeling. Very interesting levels. I can see why that would work.
I never thought about the idea of going Evocation Wizard 2 for Sculpt Spells, that's a smart idea! I do feel like the 2 levels in Bard might be unnecessary though unless you need skill proficiencies, maybe it would be better to put those 2 levels towards Sorcerer for the extra feat and more Sorcery Points?
@@StairFacts Bard 2 lets you be a competent lock picker & talker, and speak with animals, dissonant whispers, and tashas come in surprisingly handy through the whole game. Jack of all trades & song of rest are also useful all game long. On the flip side, yup, it slows your progression. On my next run, I will probably give the bard levels to Shadowheart or Astarion, or flip it and go 8 lore bard and then pick & choose some multiclasses.
@@OakandIV Fair! Bard is insanely useful for main characters, every time I try to start a new playthrough I eventually end up multiclassing into Bard on my Tav.
Another reason to go dual wielder is save your main action by not casting Create Water; and just carry jugs of water with you, drop them as free actions, and use a bonus action off hand attack to break the jug open next to an enemy. And still have your action to do whatever.
Using a similar build for a pirate character who was recruited for his talent to manipulate the winds (due to him being a storm sorcerer) making it much smoother sailing for his crew. doesn't hurt he also likes to bring up peoples spirits with sea shanties.
The duel wield build still works quite well if you sub out larethians wrath with harmonic dueler until until Larian fixes the targeting issue with larenthian's wrath. Harmonic dueler has an action that adds charisma modifier to damage.
Can I just say how much I absolutely love this - it reminds me of Metallica's "Ride The Lightning" album & I am absolutely here for it!!! Also don't know if anyone else has mentioned this but if you're going the Tempest Cleric route, you can pick Talos, god of storms and destruction as your diety which is also super fitting IMO! Might actually try this for my Redemption Durge playthrough ^^
This build is begging for magic missile!! It has a great synergy with both lightning charges and phalar aluve, you will deal insane damage inside the sword shriek
Hear me out. Take 2 levels of Tempest Cleric, 2 levels of Hex blade and the rest storm sorcerer. Explanation. Agonizing blast is really what you want from Warlock. Most of your levels are in Sorcerer which means a d6 HP. You do have the heavy armor from Cleric, but you should avoid being in melee combat. You just don't have the HP. If you don't start cleric for wisdom saves you are subjected to hold person which lots of people have. And if you get paralyzed that's it. You're probably going down.
Gotta say hobo been loving your build guides their incredibly well done and have been considering a few as possible options for my 4th party member build (have literslly been stuck for a week trying to pick lol so many good optiond so its hard to pick). I would love to see how you would put together a build that focuses on the ice gear that can be found through out the game while also primarily wielding a bow
Build Request: So I just found out the Duergar's enlarge effects wild shapes sizes and shillelagh is better than I thought, there's even a couple unique weapons that synergize with it, something about a snare staff and even a snare enhancing chest piece. So kind of like a melee/control type bludgeoning druid with some buffed wildshapes.
Wow I was literally thinking of a build like this for a while, but I actually settled on Circle of Land Druid, it actually gets access to a lot of lightning Spells and utility,
I wish I hadn't just finished a pure storm sorcerer run because I am a metal singer with a big booming voice (for the thunder connection) and can hit some eye watering high notes (bit of a stretch but lightning kinda fits) and this would be so perfect
Glad I came across your channel. A lot of my own fun in these games is creating builds or coming across new and interesting ones I haven't thought of doing myself - regardless of viability (although most , if not all of yours seem quite viable lol). Really appreciate you taking the time and sharing these builds! They're great for facilitating RP runs through the game or just a new playthrough in general.
This is an interesting build. I will probably switch to this once I have more of the gear pieces. Unfortunately I don't have the alternative chest piece for this. I do have potent robes but it won't synergize as well as your recommendations.
This episode made me think about that psychic spell that deals damage of the last type used every turn (I forget the name on account of the spell being mostly useless). Since it requires concentration and procs every turn, would it build or trigger the bonus damage of lightning charges granted by the staff? Would it's damage build stacks of reverberation? If so, it may actually be a rather nasty spell in the right setup.
Well, guess im gonna be respecing Shadowheart. Just picture it, darkness spell, thunder and lightning, Shar's pettiness and not to mention the sound effect of Reverberation.

I do have a level 6 build on the channel. Although I have to say, low level multiclassing is never gonna be a strong as just single levelling. If I can think of anything, I'll try.
If i'm going to do tempest cleric, i'd prefer to take at least 2 levels in it for destructive wrath. Personally i think that's its best feature, not wrath of the storm.
