I've been a fan of the MXL-770 for years now - I have six of them I use for live radio dramas. Only recently have I started to move to different mics for that purpose since feedback control on stage is an issue with condenser mics in some of my venues.
Yup, ..although I used my cheap tv's 3.5mm jack and a inexpensive sennheiser headphone I really liked the sound of mic B. Less bright, more full on your voice... How it sounds in a mix is a different thing.
Its not warmer, it sounds muffled, you lose your sound, its not richer, 770 picks up from 20 Hz, so in 990 they simply cutted off and raised to 30, so thats why it may seem like you said
770 does for me. I tried so many microph9nes for my bass heavy singing voice and I found that the MXl CR89 is literal magic for me. I don’t know why MXL microphones don’t get more love? I tried some $700 microphones and the CR89 blew them out of the water. Thank you Bandrew for showing how many great budget microphones there are out there!

For me the mayor difference is the B being warmer.

B is fuller. A seems to have such little bass.
So I guess I am a 770 fan 😃
i heard almost no difference, but somehow i guessed them right
990 is decidedly brighter, 770 more full on your voice

So minus of 770 is that low frequencies give a muffled (dull) sound effect (if you know what i mean)

Team B as well, but to be honest, I don't really like both of them.
B sounds amazing warmer great tone A sound good also take a little mid out 4K an it will sound great B doesn’t need anything
