if you just pour epoxy in where the plates go, it will crack as the chain plate flexes with the rigging pulling and going lax..your better of in my opinion, to drill the screw holes out larger than needed then fill with epoxy. then redrill correct size. (this will have water proof holes for the screws) Chamfer the tops of the holes, put the screws in the plate holder, put a rolled pc of Butyl tape around the screws under the plate so that the BT will fill the chamfer of the holes when placed back on deck. a rolled pc around the cover plate and around the chain plate just under the cover plate. bolt in place. trim away any BT that oozes out from the plate. butyl tape lasts forever will never harden and seal you plates. butyl tape is cheap and i got it on Amazon. its what i used on my 1985 Oday 26. p.s. tap your deck lightly with a small hammer every couple of inches apart. (especially around any bolts or screws that go into the deck) your looking for a change in tone to a dull thump. hopefully you wont find any. dull thumps are areas of rotted wooden core under the fiberglass due to water that seeped in from some where. i had to replace the 3/8" balsa core with a pc 15" x 5 ' on the starboard side just outside the large window. had the boat 2 yrs and still not ready for the water...but then im 72 yrs old and still working 5 days a week. good luck
I didn’t epoxy, it was a slip of the tongue. I used some all weather seal, worked great. I sailed her all summer and my family loved it, mostly me, but you get it lol. Thanks for the advice
I’m super bummed to hear this. I was also dismasted two years ago. My forestay pin somehow came out and it stormed ripping the mast off from the cabin top. I was lucky and the mast was unharmed. I had to do a ton of work but I was able to make all repairs on the water and about 3 weeks later I was sailing again. Good luck 🍀, you got this
Sounds like they had a bunch of bad luck. They were very nice people. I love that boat. I’m moving across the country, but if I were staying, I’d buy it. And I’m definitely not special forces lol…

Dismasted my oday 25 today. I’ll have to reinforce the bulkhead and reinstall the chain plate

Would you buy this boat back for $8K. The folks you sold it to are selling it now.🤔
