Fantastic result! I got this one and the Camel at the same time but they didn’t have the PE included. They are basic representations indeed, but great to see on the shelf once done! Good to see another Kiwi on the web doing great things, cheers from Christchurch!
Very nice build. I like these less expensive kits as they relatively inexpensive and give some opportunity to scratch build some details w/o the risk of ruining a $100 kit. Simple jigs made out of cardboard and toothpicks really help attach the top wing. BTW, the fiddly round parts on the top wing are part of the aileron control mechanism. They should be painted black.
Black? All the reference photos that I've seen show a very light colour (presumably silver/aluminum), including a photo for a Nieuport flown by the pilot that is the subject of this build.
The bits in the top wingroot that fell off you say you dont know is the aileron pushrods that connect to the control collomb. Those hoop things attatched to the pushrods are a wishbone tipe assemy that actuatesb the torquetube in the wing that twists the ailerons
