  • In this episode we'll see the detail parts going onto the tender, the tender wheels being painted, electrical wipers being made & installed on the trucks, and the tender getting a base coat of paint and its decals. Finally, a short-circuit test is done by putting the tender on a live track.

Really enjoying this series, you've done a smashing job even with the little hiccup over the trucks! Very neat pickups as well! Looking forward to the next installment!

What make is that color is that it has a green hue to it. And like it's look

The loco was painted with Micro-Mark's Microlux Grimy Black. I don't know whether there is any green in it, but I don't see it myself.

what gauge wire did you use for the tender trucks and where did you get it from ?

My supply of fine wire comes from years of snipping off wire from the wiring harnesses of DCC decoders when the wires needed to be shortened. I always save those little bits of fine wire. I don't know the exact gauge, but such wire typically seems to be of very high quality, i.e. very fine wire and very flexible. It may be something like 30 gauge, but I'm not sure.

@@CarlBrainerd my supply of scavenged fine flexible wire is about dried up looking for a source

@@2nd66tube2 I haven't had to actually buy any in recent memory, but I do see that Amazon advertises 30-gauge wire in colors. Surprisingly, Walthers does not seem to carry real small wire. A pretty good source looks to be Soundtraxx. They carry 30 gauge wire in appropriate colors that they say is "ultra flexible". If it's like the wire on their decoders, it should be great.
