    Breathtaking, just shows how much beauty we miss out on living in areas with so much light pollution.

    This is awesome footage. I've visited the summit once and stayed for a few hour to tour one of the Keck scopes and watch the sunset, but I'd love to stay overnight, that would be awesome. I'd also love to see the adaptive optics lasers in action! I have a 2 watt laser myself, but I'd like to see what 20 watts looks like! Also, super bright meteor at 1:45!

    Ok. If anyone says that this isn't about as awesome as it gets, just ask them what the last most awesome thing they recorded was. Then tell them: but you didn't have telescopes angrily lazing distant to galaxies for nuclear strikes to awake an absentee god, didjya?! Thanks for showing this. I feel so alone now. FiNAllY!!

    Никогда на самолёте утром не летали? Там тоже звёзды вместе с солнцем видно. В общем-то это обычное дело на большой высоте, где атмосфера не мешает.

    I've been meaning to ask this... But how is the Milky Way still able to be viewed through a camera (unless it's a fake picture being rotate) with the sun's light pollution?? I'm genuinely curious, not trying to start a fuss.

    • @kurtiswilliams
      @kurtiswilliams 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think the scenes you are referring to had bright skies because of moonlight, not because of sunlight. In bright moonlight, long exposures look almost like daytime, but the stars and Milky Way are still visible.

    • @deeohgee4574
      @deeohgee4574 ปีที่แล้ว

      This planet rotates on its axis so it is always dark for half of each day. We call this nighttime. The variations of daylight/nighttime come from the axial tilt and the position of Earth in its orbit around the sun. Take a couple of hours to go to a planetarium, its fascinating.

      It's a feedback instrument, they measure the atmospheric turbulence so they can correct the co-ordinance of the observed photons, astronomers are very clever.

    Beautiful, but sad. That is our sacred land which is still being desecrated til this day!!!

    • @vkawaa
      @vkawaa 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So you're saying it is okay for governments around the world, to continue the desecration of our most sacred cultural landmarks; in order to advance their technological aspirations throughout the world? Hawaiians are for technological advances, but not at the expense of our cultural beliefs. Especially since Hawai'i is still an illegally occupied nation.

    • @vkawaa
      @vkawaa 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, the illegal puppet government. There was no treaty of annexation, which is required in International law. They disguised it with an American Resolution, which have no jurisdiction beyond American borders. Thus, making everything from then on, illegal. According to Intl. law, the occupier must implement the occupied laws. So, that vote of 1959 you are referring to, is illegal as well. Look, our people are suffering. All we want is to make it right. A lot of ancestors died trying to save our Kingdom. But the only thing that gives us this chance, are the people who came before us. Kamehameha III sent his delegates to establish our nation as the first non-European state. International state, recognized by the great powers. We have the same rights as America, England, France, Germany.....those kinds of States. That makes our situation different from the Native American Indians, or Texas for that matter. We were almost a million people strong when Cook arrived, Flourishing and healthy. When we were overthrown in 1893, our people stood at 40,000; In which, 38,000 voted not to join the U.S. It was looking great, until McKinley came in after Cleveland. Then, the U.S conspired to illegally occupy Hawai'i again in 1898 during the Spanish American War. Then, the U.S controlled our elite offices and further implemented the cultural bomb. We are not hating on the U.S, just the unjust acts that resulted in our peoples demise. We are at the bottom of every health statistic. Our land has yet to be returned. And the land that was supposed to go to the Hawaiian people, are being poisoned by big $$$ companies, our waters overfished...... Look, we just want to protect our children's future, and set the past right. We are used to the western lifestyle....our people fought in U.S wars, as I have family who fought for Queen, and we have family who fought for the U.S.....and continue to do so. We love the U.S, but the policies that are being used to govern our Hawai'i, is destroying Hawai'i....and our future. I hope that we can work with the U.S government in making things right. Mahalo(Thank you for your understanding). Aloha !!!! Have a blessed day !!!
