I worked for a dealer in the "Datsun" era that eventually went to Nissan. One of the oddities of those cars is they use weird hardware. They give you an 8 mm thread, but the nut size will be 12 mm or 14 mm, instead of the traditional 13 mm. (off the shelf size) Back when we had a lot of the 210 / 310 series, we joked that a true dealer mechanic can name the only place they used a 13 mm head on the entire car. (Hint: near the water pump) Many times traditional replacements don't fit where the OEM fastener once was. BTW, on my personal long term projects I always got a box of zip-loc bags and marked where they came from. Nice to know they all went to the RF door, LF fender, (etc) so you can see where something is missing.
Good information there. You are very fortunate to be able to have a non running car in the driveway. I had several parts cars behind a fence on my property and some one complained. Moving them to a storage place this week. Not real happy about it.
Man that sucks! Yeah I am pretty fortunate. I moved it inside my garage in the next video , so I can dismantle it. I still need to figure out where to store the removed parts!
I saved every bolt I could when I parted out my 73 gremlin. You’re right little intricate parts can be extremely hard to find if you lose them. Also, I think everyone would like to see you tear the car down maybe a time lapse segment of the car coming all apart?
you cant bepositive thats all original to a 50-60 year old car.. i lose nuts and bolts and other random crap in my cars and classic cars all the time and theyre deff NOT original ones

That shell looks pretty clean. Once your done parting it out I hope someone has a use for the chassis.
Trust me, looks are deceiving. I am going to go over this car in detail before disassembling it, and all will be revealed. Stay tuned!
Nothing like some automotive archeology. 😎
You know it! Fascinating at times. Vehicles have histories good and bad.

I will try to figure out how to make that happen!!
Nice Z!!! I just bought a 70 in pieces. someone took it to pieces.
Thanks! This one was taken apart as well. My 71 Z is WAY nicer! Stay tuned for that one going back together!
Man, up here in the Salt Belt, that would be described as a solid original shell, not a "bits donor". 😱
I'm from Pennsylvania, and totally get that. Wait until I upload the video after the upcoming one! You may change your mind!
Glad to see you got the parts car Tom! Kirk
Thank you! It's been months of pain waiting.
I’m the first viewer!
I appreciate that!! ❤️

True. I am a bit familiar with the Datsun 240Z, and I will be matching everything up to my detailed pictures from my 1971 to verify!
