I think I understand why the p3 and p4 soundtracks sound different. P3 is aggressive. They are actively trying to destroy something. The music reflects that. P4 isn’t trying to destroy anything. They’re all about friendship and bonds. And they’re trying to solve a mystery, both of which are reflected in different parts of the soundtrack. What they did here is make a song that can be changed to reflect one group or the other.
In short: they nailed it.
i think p4 mussic is more like a typical detective music since the whole plot of p4 is investigating the midnight channel, and more upbeat since the game is less dark than p4, for p3 its indeed a music evoking destroying something since the sees group its trying to destroy and put an end to the dark hour
well p3 have a theme named mass destruction , so ya
The investigation team is trying to find and stop a bad man. Minato found out he couldn't kill himself and decided the shadows would make good substitutes

What I love about this song is that the Shadows you fight are actually vibing and swaying to the beat. They're like, "Yeah okay you're all going to mangle us horribly, but THIS BEAT IS BANGING YO!!"

So whenever I played persona q, the first word out of this song I heard was "bananas". And now whenever I hear it I just say the word "bananas" out loud when it gets to that part, usually when my earbuds are in. My roommate is trying to get me to leave now on an unrelated note.

Aeryn Zael Well just for fun, what do think its, "instrument" for the P5 version would be (P3 had the guitar, P4 had the trumpet)? I personally think it would be a violin, because it seems to be used in a good amount of songs in P5.

Yumis powerful voice makes this track better than P4 one imo.
Listen to the 2015 live it was not like this when they sung both songs one after another. I think there is something wrong with the mix in the P4 soundtrack all vocal are so compressed...

yes, a good soundtrack can make a great difference, with a generic soundtrack like in Soul hackers 2 you go and say... "another battle..buff" but with this, is like " another battle! alright! give me that: Light The Fire Up In The Night" it makes you feel more motivated or rather energetic during a fight even if you are just farmng, i sure enjoyed taking enemies by surprise just to hear "take over" in persona 5. never got tired of it

ive never heard this version! my 3ds' a button broke halfway through my first playthrough, which was p4- had no clue there were two versions until i was looking up the soundtrack for a friend, haha
i havent played the p3 side yet but i think i already prefer this one, tho i guess hearing the beginning/the song a lot will get the song to be a tad annoying either way
Now if only Yumi Kawamura sang in a more coherent English, she’d have been on the same tier of perfection as Lotus Juice. Still love her voice, it has that intensity to it that I like.

Can'y we all just agree every Persona battle themes is great and fit with the theme of their games.
I'm not saying P5's theme doesn't work for its game. I'm just saying that if I have to listen to one over the other, it's this one.
Reach out to the truth isn't a terrible song, but it's a bad song to use for battle.
Time to make history was a better P4 battle theme. In P4:G reach out to the truth only played when you ambushed an enemy iirc.
P5's music work with the game's style, I actually liked that the music was not soundtrack-like.

I find that a lot of the psp tracks are fine outside of the game but it really shows that they weren't the original songs when you play the game because the mood is completely different.
