    I use Nimbus 25 for half-mara's and my Novablast 4 as of yesterday for 5 & 10k's. Before nowablast I ran those distances In Asics Gel Kinjo. My PB's are 26: 03 for 5k, 57 for 10k, 2h:20-25min Half-mara. I am 33 and I never ran untill 2 years ago when I decided to start running daily with no special plan or food changes. I meltes 25kg and now I am around 85kg +- 3kg. 😁 Keep running 👍

    Novablast 3/4, Saucony Triumph 20/21 and Kayano 30/31 got my vote. These are "relatively" cheaper than other model you suggested for LSD. For speed workout and goal marathon pace long run training I use my old plated racer. I couldn't resist the temptation to try out the new plated racer so I always have one pair which only log 100km on it.

    I'm training for my first marathon (it's in 3 weeks) and my long run shoe is the Asics Nimbus, which I use for most of my easy runs as well. I use the Superblast (v1) for the runs that are on the faster side like tempo and threshold runs. The marathon itself will be run in the Metaspeed Edge Paris and I just did a 31km run with them yesterday to have them fully broken in before the race. I was quite surprised how well they behave in wet conditions (unlike the Superblast v1).
    Yeah, I also have a few non-Asics (Hoka, Adidas and Nike), but I decided to stick to Asics for my marathon training.

    I think we're all now a victim of marketing nonsense. A couple of years ago, trainers we now call normal were considering max stack. I think running long in anything around 25-30mm+ is absolutely fine. There's enough data now confirming bigger stack heights cause you to put more pressure through your legs so brands have to try combat this whilst doing something different to sell shoes. I suspect brands will soon start dropping stack heights telling us its gentler on the legs.

    • @Ruffnreddyrunner
      @Ruffnreddyrunner หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Valid points there I considered my 25 mm heel stack quite cushioned back in 2017 when I started running and used new balance 1400 and 1500 models for my long runs and Pegasus 35 for marathons 😆 more stack causes fatigue and stability issues when cornering imo

    • @alexz.8302
      @alexz.8302 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Too many variables, honestly. I agree a huge part of what trends are in are all marketing (Harry Kane is making kids get Sketchers boots now), but in regards to max stack heights being normal, you also have to consider the materials and designs from, say 5 years ago, to now. There's also the variables of runner height, weight, stride, leg length, etc.

    • @eamon1648
      @eamon1648 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Stack really isn't that important, it matters but so does the materials and design.
      They also changed how it's measured, some companies used to only lk
      Ijst the height of the midsole foam where as others included the outsole and in sole.

      @cedricgrandseigne หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      my experience says differently, with max cushion shoe, I don't get pain in the joints the day after, and so I can run everyday, whatever training I do: I ran 17km yesterday in my Magnify Nitro 2, and my legs are absolutely fine: it would have been much different in my deviate. everybody is different, some people run without shoes without any problem, but they worked a lot on body reinforcement: I guess that is the key. I cycle a lot, I have good stamina, but before max cushion shoes, I would hurt myself running way before being tired. it is not a problem anymore, now you can run as much as you want without any pain, even if you are not a dedicated runner.

      I've got a triumph 21, and it's good for a long run... However
      With the intention of using it for "recovery" only, I was always so inclined to do mid fast tempos in my first month using them, almost exclusively at the time (ignoring the other 3-4 working shoes I had in rotation)
      Might be an unpopular opinion on these shoes, to use as a kind of marathon pace tempo shoe, sprinkled in amongst your easy mileage.. but the shape and fit of these big shoes really make me want to propel forward.. I think kofusi has the same opinion (or was it with the Nike invincible line, I forget)
      That being said, don't see why these would be relegated to recovery duties only

      @@mikea6710 yeah i agree..i struggle with lower paces wearing this shoe because it is comfortable and engaging at once. I tend to run my normal training runs a little bit too fast..i think the Gel Nimbus or Invincible Run are better at going slower because they are much softer

    I have the puma and novablast 3, one major difference ive noticed between them that isnt mentioned is i think the puma ventilation is not very good. I recently wore rhem on a relatively warm ( for Ireland! ) 28k and found them really warm for the the last hour or so. Ive never noticed the same problem in the novablasts.
    Another thing about the novablasts, unless you need them immediately, the nb4 will probably be shortly making its way to the asics outlet, or at least i picked up a couple of pairs of the NB3 in November 23 on the outlet when they were just over a year old, NB4 are creeping up on that now

    I rate Ben Parkes you tube channel as one of the best UK running channels. The plans are awesome as well I have the Half and Marathon ones and plan to use them once fit enough as have only just started running again. One idea I have for a great series and one Ben as hinted on in the past and would go to the Heart of the UK club scene. Is a Cross country season maybe with the County champs and Southern champs and the big one "The National" you could use the Met League races as the builders and race for Serps. I think it be a popular series for the winter months and be a different challenge for Ben the strength would bring you on for Marathons etc as well. Only a thought but would love to see it

    I love my novablast 4 LEs. Took a few weeks for my calves to adjust as I normally run in stability shoes not neutrals. Glad I have pushed through the teething period as now I feel amazing in these and worse in my old shoes. Novablasts let my feet do what they want to do and I find I can use them for sessions or easy running with good comfort and recovery. They are still comfortable enough after a long run that I don’t feel the immediate need to take them off. We’ll see how they last long term tho!

    Can’t comment on the Superblast 2 but definitely like version 1 which I do have, and they are great for a heavy runner at any speed. Not sure I want to try version 2 if they are softer. I did one 5km run in the Hoka SkywardX and they killed my feet and Achilles as they had to overwork due to how unstable they are. Enjoy running in my NB SC Trainer V3 however my knees ache afterwards, I don’t think they are stable enough. I took out my Speed 3’s which I’ve not ran in for months and preferred them to SC V3. Also loving the Hurricane 24 right now. And don’t know why I don’t use them more often but I would Boston 12 are my overall favourite for long runs as heavy runner. I would have recommended the Puma Magnify Nitro 2 instead of the Velocity Nitro 3. Full 39mm of Nitro foam and everywhere on discount

    Not a hater but if you are someone like who want shoes around $80, these are super expensive.
    My avg distance is 70 km/week.
    So i do need multiple shoes. The best method that has worked for me is to wait for older models and get at 50% or if you want something super cheap. Joes new balance outlet is one of the best shop out there, wait for deal (2 in $100). You can save alot and get premium experience

      I have used Joe's I need to check back today in need of foam I must say I bought the NB fuel cell v4 I believe for $110 it really is terrific for speed work and the track I have been in the MT 481's for years they loose their 'bounce go flat after 300 miles(?) BUT they are safe to wear comfortable, stable. I don't race and haven't in decades I'm not paying $35 to run a 5k and win 70-74 age group lol

    I just got Novablast 4 and have only had them on feet inside and have to say they feel considerably less bouncy than version 3 when they were new. I still remember walking and jumping in the 3 and how bouncy they felt on the same floor, now they have almost 1000km of running and I replaced them with 4. Has anyone noticed much difference between 3 and 4?

    Magnify nitro 2 should have been on the list instead of the Velocity Nitros: you can get them from 50€ to 100€ nowadays.

    Great list. Saucony Tempus and Puma Magmax are also great options. I wonder how the NB Balos holds up on long runs. I do like my Superblast 2 although I prefer softer foams such as PwrrunPb hence thinking to pick up a pair of Balos when it gets discounted.

    As below have said, Triumph 21 is a great Long run shoe and can get a bit cheaper now, esp if you go for the 20 which is almost the same. The new Saucony Hurricane seems to be getting great reviews too, be good to see you try that one?

    Weirdly, I can’t stand the Novablast 4s for easy stuff, but love them for my speed workouts. Maybe it’s that I heel strike a bit more the slower I go, but the heel to toe transition feels weird going slower. But I would race in them if I didn’t have carbon shoes.

      I haven't worn them but have the Hyperion max which I think is same foam. It feels rock hard when you first put it on but it's actually really nice to run in, really softens up under load.

    • @dennispacelli1007
      @dennispacelli1007 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If you wear size 10.5(US) then get a 9.5 it would be exactly a 1/2 size down If up then 10.5. Understand?

    I've been running in the Novablast 4 for around 6-7 months and they have been by far the best running shoes I've ever had.
    The grip is brilliant, the bounce is plentiful and ideal for short and long runs.
    I'm not keeping my eye out for a ASICS notification for the UK release of the Novablast 5.
