The problem with this scenario is not everyone is particularly religious but see Christianity as a cultural identity and will default back to their cultural identity. Not believing in Christianity is one thing....but an attack on Christianity would be seen as a cultural attack...even atheist would side with Christianity if they believe their cultural identity is being attacked. Example: I'm not particularly religious but if someone attacked my grandmother because of her belief in Christianity it would make me hostile towards them regardless of my own beliefs.

A religion is created by evolutionarily beneficial traits universilized and enforced in the group so the group(race ethnicity whatever) can survive, outcompete and dominate the outgroups. Different groups in different ecological niches means profound transformation of the religion over time.

Not believing in Christianity is one thing....but an attack on Christianity would be seen as a cultural attack...even atheist would side with Christianity if they believe their cultural identity is being attacked.
