Thanks for doing this, and I loved the Settler series, but for me, I am not handing out $60 USD for a so-so game.
Instead, I will spend my time on games in my Steam Library that are actually fun and cost less than half this price.
Are you planning on playing any more Plan B?

Yes I will be playing more Plan B in the future - just too many games right now to play them all at the same time ;)
It looks like the older settlers games that I liked but they screwed it up with greed. And for that price, as hogwarts legacy is the same price, it would seem again, greed.
yeah definitely no question between this and Hogwarts Legacy lol they did do a quick update of the game it seems but no major changes :(
Settlers 2 is the best, how people died when you destroy a warehouse...how the gold level up your soldiers...the mining on the mountains, that nice green of the nature
let's see if Pioneers of Pagonia will be a good successor
This new Settlers 'game' is...
1) 100% the result of a developer (Ubisoft) 100% IGNORING all that was good about the previous games...
2) 100% the developer IGNORING EVERY fan and purchaser of those previous games, and instead...
3) Producing something which has been so dumbed down as to render this nothing more than suitable for someone at kindergarten.
4) According to director Christian Hagedorn, the team had to redesign the game as the gameplay systems they originally designed were overcomplicated --> THAT'S(!!!) about as fkn braindead an attitude as it gets, an attitude becoming more and more widespread with today's devs.
I agree that there out is batter games but honestly on console this is really good we don’t have age off empire or stronghold so I love this chill game

Is this play like age of empire?
yes it's more an RTS like AOE than a city builder but it's not as good as AOE and more expensive
The gameplay in this is so 2 dimensional. The story in the campaign is like a crappy children's program and the PvP isnt much a challenge and only any good for procrastinating.

I was just about to buy this game and decided to watch a review. Saved me cash, thanks ... Can't believe what they've done to this game.
Can't believe they stuffed up the campaign mode, you should be able to replay a stage that you have completed. I've completed settlers 7 again, and tried to reduce my time in a stage.
Glad I could help - don't hesitate to check out my series covering the missions of the campaign if you want to see more proof of my review but yeah better buy many other games at that price, especially Anno 1800 on discount
There's not bad product, just a bad price. This seems like a game that tries to be many things and is nothing, ending up like a fairly simplistic indie game. For 10$ it'd probably be totally fine, a very casual entry into city-building and RTS for a more casual or younger audience. maybe even at 20$. but 60 is just BS. This kinda screams DLC-baity base game, a lot like Paradox games that come out with obvious holes to be stuffed by later DLCs, just worse. At least Paradox base games are cheap.
Also, gotta love these random YT recommendations. Occasionally my 3rd recommendation in the sidebar is some small/tiny channel from some corner of TH-cam I would usually never find on my own. Might be some Browser extension doing that as well. Usually they're not great, but this was a pleasant surprise in that I actually watched the whole video. Good presentation, structure, visuals, content. Will I stick around for your channel? Probably not? Your content isn't exactly what I tend to watch on a regular basis. But if another one of your videos pop up that seem interesting, I won't shy away either. :)

i believe you forgot one, and thats speeding up building time, all builder strategy games should have that

Yeah very worried the series will end there basically but the original creator of the series is launching a new game this year I’ll follow it to see if it’s the real successor

you have to build buildings in RTS’s. If you have to fight, it’s an RTS. If you don’t have to fight it’s a city builder!

Where all the damn trees!? Why does it look so barren every time someone does a video.
I loved the lush forests which were a challenge of their own. Exploring and chopping through the map. Seeing animals, rivers, mushrooms, strange things.
There’s no ‘magic’ or wonderment in this.
I am perfectly happy for innovation and new ways, I was not expecting it to be a remake of previous games. But I’ll be sticking with Settlers 2.
In my opinion old fans are definitely never going to like this one - I guess the only question is if new players think this is worth it…

@@GamerConsultant which I think was also the inspiration for Evil Genius 2 which is also on my Old Man rants list. But I def enjoy that now I’m less angry and it’s all I have.
I’ll keep an eye on The Settlers but there’s always hope in Indie 😄
