I'll try and make this quick.
My RCIA friend had liver cancer. Then an operation, then it returned. Another operation. Then it returned. This last time the doctor told her she had no more than four years to live. And she told the doctor that if Jesus gave this to her, then he could take it away. (And the doctor's eyes would "glaze over" every time she mentioned Jesus.)
She gets an MRI every three months, and was told that the best she could hope for was that the tumors would not grow. They will never shrink or go away. And they will, eventually get bigger. (And she would always remind the doctor that Jesus was the one who would decide that.)
Two MRI's ago, the doctor walked in with the results and said she couldn't explain how this could be happening, but the tumors - all of them - were shrinking. Then at her last MRI a couple of weeks ago, the results were - according to medical science - impossible: the tumors were almost gone.
This obviously doesn't happen to everyone, but I don't know anyone who has lived through so much pain and agony and continually praised and loved God as much as my friend. There is no doubt in my mind that her faith and the prayers of all of us had everything to do with this outcome.
Yes, she's ecstatic at her recovery. But she was also looking forward to being reunited with her parents and being with Jesus. Death is not the end - it's the beginning. Thanks be to God.
So much for making this quick.

I always pray "in accordance with God's Will" rather than "if God wills." Scripture tells us that Christ was always in the middle of healing somebody, on the way to heal somebody, or had just healed somebody. I also keep in mind St. Paul's words "in weakness power reaches perfection" as a response to Job's comforters. Some of us may carry a thorn in the flesh to keep from getting proud. Fr. D'Orio, who did have a healing ministry responded to critics who asked him why not everybody he prayed over was healed, "That's God's way of reminding me who the Healer is." There are different forms of healing. While the physical is the most obvious, the interior healing is the most important. After all, what is our goal if not greater intimacy with Christ?

All i know is that for over 2 Decades ive been praying for a Miracle and never happened.... BUT.... when I was in Real live and death situations, he was INSTANTLY there..... God uses our sufferings for other Soul's and in his own understanding. Dont ask me to clarify this cause I cant. Most Apostles and Saints went to martyrdom and were not rescued. Christ himself prayed for The Cup to be removed but it couldn't!! Life is a mystery. Tomorrow 's problems cant come back and many might not see today's Sunset. Faith is the ONLY HOPE. The Gospels have all the answers when read carefully. God bless all. Stick in there. !! ;)

It sure is great to hear a Catholic priest tell us that we should pray for healing and deliverance. I can't tell you how long it's been since I've heard that said...I would say not since the Catholic Charismatic Renewal was active in our area and that was almost 40 years ago. Recent,ly I came across a local priest who is Charismatic, but he is the only Charismatic priest in our area and he is 88 years old. I hope more younger priest like yourself will begin to pray for the miracles that Jesus said that believers would display and teach their parishoners to do the same.

Jesus' power healed the woman with an issue of blood. Jesus saying, "Who touched me? ... Someone touched me for I perceive that power has flowed out from me." Luke 8:45-55 Jesus cured a lame man, a blind man, a leper, and raised people from the dead during His earthly ministry. When He ascended, He said, "It's good that I should go, I will send you another in my place, The Comforter, The Paraclete, The Holy Spirit." John 14:15-31. Also, Jesus said, "Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in Me will do the works that I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to The Father. And, I will do whatever you ask in My Name, so that The Father may be glorified in The Son. You may ask Me for anything in My Name and I will do it." John 14:12-14. Thank You, Father Goring! May the Heavenly Good Shepherd Protect, Bless and Keep you, one of our earthly Good Shepherds, in His Fold Forever and Ever. In The Name of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. Amen

I definitely believe in God's miracles! He healed my late husband's hearing loss back in 2005. He had gone to a healing Mass and was standing with his arms raised very close to the Altar. As the priest was praying, all of a sudden he heard his ears pop loudly! He fell back and was shocked to be able to hear the Mass. When he got home and told me what the Lord did for him..........we both cried, tears of joy! No more hearing aids! VIVA CRISTO REY!

Went back home and spread it all over the country , it s very popular now later the local church took care of it . Many congregations ,prayer groups of the divine mercy are prospering and the feast day next Sunday after easter is a big celebration now

God bless you GrimW . maybe you misunderstood, or maybe they WERE unkind. The problem is that for years some protestants have tried to assume the name Christian for themselves and called us "Catholics." Until 1530 or so we were all Christians, all catholic. • @KB_Grimweaver

@@jimmys6566 Disagreement with interpretation, for one. It's really hard to use scripture to argue truth when they're set to interpret it differently.
Misunderstanding of traditions and beliefs (they say that Cathoics 'worship' Mother Mary and the Saints), people who've had horrible experiences with Catholics (the pastor of a church I grew up in: his mother tried to shoot him with a rifle because he had converted to Protestantism) and some are just absolutely closed off from reason because they've adhered to protestant doctrine for 60+ years, so on and so forth.
I for one am on the fence. I don't exactly consider myself protestant anymore, but I'm struggling to enter the Catholic side. It's a long and complicated story- I'll just say that in order for the Church to be what I would honestly swear myself to, it should have more Father Marks and no McCarricks.

@@charlesvandenburgh7008 You seem not to accept the teaching of the Church, (check out Luke 10:16 He that heareth you, heareth me; and he that despiseth you, despiseth me; and he that despiseth me, despiseth him that sent me ) but worse than that you don't even know what the teachings are, since you imply that Catholics worship Mary - we simply don't; we honour her and call her Holy Mary, like we call palestine the Holy Land. The sad thing is that you have put yourself above those appointed by Jesus and that is seen as the worst sin, the deadly sin of pride. Catholic.com explains your lack of understanding like this "As the terminology of Christian theology developed, the Greek term latria came to be used to refer to the honor that is due to God alone, and the term dulia came to refer to the honor that is due to human beings, especially the saints. Scripture indicates that honor is due to these individuals (Matt. 10:41b And if you receive righteous people because of their righteousness, you will be given a reward like theirs. ). A special term was coined to refer to the special honor given to the Virgin Mary, who bore Jesus-God in the flesh-in her womb. This term, hyperdulia (huper [more than]+ dulia = “beyond dulia”), indicates that the honor due to her as Christ’s own Mother is more than the dulia given to other saints. It is greater in degree, but since Mary is a finite creature, the honor she is due is fundamentally different from the latria owed to the infinite Creator.
God bless you Charles; remember what Luke 10:16 tells us - Reject the Church, reject Jesus, reject God

I doesn't hurt to offer up your prayers to God or have someone intercede on your behalf to God to help someone recover from illness or to give a sign. Even if you think the prayer hasn't worked it had worked it just might have not been the way you expected the prayer to have worked.
For instance a loved one is really I'll and they are dying and you or someone you asked to intercede to God in prayer asks God to help them recover and not to suffer. Then the loved one dies in which God ended their suffering here on Earth.

What matters most is our salvation, and sometimes God allows illnesses and all kinds of difficulties as a way to get our attention back on Him and our own salvation. Sometimes God allows us to hit rock bottom so we turn our thoughts to him, pray to him, yes for healing perhaps, but the real objective, the real healing is healing of the soul towards complete trust in God. Always complete any prayer by saying, " Thy will be done".

are we supposed to pick up our Cross and unite our sufferings with Jesus? if we pray for healing, Does that mean we dont want to suffer for Christ? I don't get it, different priests have different answers.

Great message! The bible says that faith comes by hearing in Romans 10:17 and that the prayer of FAITH heals the sick in James 5:15. By teaching on healing, many will believe and receive healing.
99% of Churches do not teach on healing, but say it was done away with or teach the following:
    1. God is Sovereign.
    2. God is all powerful.
    3. God is in Control
    4. God can do whatever He wants.
    5. God has a purpose, a plan and a time for everything.
    6. God knows what you are suffering.
    7. God will heal, you in his time.
(These 7 steps of Hope are a contradiction to Mark 6:5-6 and James 1:5-7, where the individual must believe to receive.)
Mark 11:24 in the original Greek says, "Believe that you already received" (past tense).
According to 6 specialists, my mother needed a pacemaker and could only walk 20 feet in 10 minutes, but then had to sit down for 5 minutes to get her breath back. She was so weak that she was hospitalized for 10 days. When she got out, I prayed with her and she started to praise God that she was ALREADY healed. The next day she walked a mile to go get her groceries, completely healed. She never did need a pacemaker. (The night before it took her 10 minutes to walk 20 feet and open the front door to let me in. She had chairs every 8 feet so that she could rest).
My neighbor was sent home to die because he was so low on the list for kidney transplants. He was bed-fast. We prayed the same way and the next day, he got up completely normal. He stayed out in the front yard telling all the passer-bys what happened.
Compare this to Matthew 6:7 where Jesus said not to use vain repetitions.
My Aunt prayed to Mary for 60 years and she said to me, "Where did it get me? I had 22 operations and I no longer believe in God".
One prayer is based on the Words of Jesus. The other is based on repetitions. God confirms His word (Mark 16:20), not vain repetitions.
We are to pray to the Father in the Name of Jesus (John 16:23).

We most definitely should Father Mark but if we do we must do it with faith as you say. For it is written 🙂:-
“But he was wounded for our iniquities, he was bruised for our sins: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and by his bruises we are healed.” - Isaias 53:5
Our Lord took a terrible beating and scourging by the Roman soldiers before he was crucified in order to fulfill this prophecy. We should honour him by asking in faith for healing for people who are suffering from any form of illness.
Actually I have been praying on a daily basis for God to pour out upon certain members of the clergy, all the gifts of The Holy Spirit with a double portion of the gifts of prophecy and healing, so that they can proclaim the Gospel with both meaning and power, as their predecessors the apostles did.
Here is a question posed by Our Lord that has played on my mind for a few years now:-
“But when the Son of Man returns will he find faith on earth”.

Is it okay to pray for a cross to bear in order to offer it up as a prayer for someone's salvation? Prayer has never brought me physical healing but I have received peace even as I get sicker. And this question is for Father, not people with an opinion.

    • @FrMarkGoring
      @FrMarkGoring  5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Teresa Baker-Carl - yes, it’s okay to pray for the grace to embrace your cross and we can offer our sufferings for others. The healing of the soul and getting to Heaven is infinitely more important than physical healing. We should still pray for healing though because it’s something Jesus commanded us to do. Praying for you!

Oh...do I, for one, admire the protestants that diligently seek after God's Holy Word for hours and days, and see God's Word in Action, and make it a LIGHT UNTO THERE PATH.
Many Catholics should be "provoked to jealousy" for the way protestants make God's Word come alive and have it utmost in their life's, even though they lack the 7 books of The Bible that was taken out by a man called Luther, caz he didn't like them.
They also lack the Holy Eucharist, True Presence which gives life to the world. But God's not finished with them yet.
"God is no respector of persons." Those who stand on God's Word in faith believing, receive from Him, whether Jew, Gentile, Roman, Greek, boy, girl, protestant or Catholic. "God's Word will not return void but will accomplish that which He pleases."
"Without faith it is impossible to please God."
I believe some people get healed because, as someone put it, "there prayed up." But perhaps there's a certain penance involved.
For in Exodus 15:26 " He said, If you listen carefully to the Lord your God, and do what is right in His eyes, and if you pay attention to His decrees and keep all of His laws,
I will not bring any of these diseases on you, like I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord that heals you." Praise God !

Well, there's forgiveness in the Sacrament of Confession.
Jesus said to the Apostles after He breathed on them He said, "Whos sins you forgive they are forgiven them and whos sins you shall retain they are retained." And Jesus also said, "If you confess your sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to lead us into all righteousness."
      1 John1:9.
There is also much healing in the Sacrament of the Eucharist.
To receive Jesus Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity that you will only find in the Catholic faith. The true presence of Jesus. He has shown us proof, by giving us many Miracles of the Eucharist and the Precious Wine around the world.

It's wonderful to hear a Catholic priest encouraging all Catholics to pray for healing. As a charismatic Catholic, I believe in the effectiveness of the gifts of the Holy Spirit but I still lack that faith and courage to offer to pray over someone else. I was also chocked to hear more than one priest, before the anointing of sick, saying something like " Don't expect any miracles, this is just to remind you that the Lord is with you..." The worst is they said this while the Blessed Sacrament was exposed.

One Pray for The Others health when/where One don't know and/or can not do something effective about Healing The Other ...
The Pray is a Claim to God for forgiving Us by do not know what to do to really help Ill people requiring Health ...
A Meditation for preparing Us to learn what To Do and really Execute The Behaviors that can Heal those who are suffering ...
To pray for healing others is not to believe that one becomes a channeler of God's Mercy displaying Magic Tricks to patronize about Our Selected Religious Order and collect tithes by our pray ...
To Pray for healing Others is just a sign of Our lack of Wisdom and Implicit Ignorance of The Truth ...

    WE HAD A PRIEST
at our small town Illinois parish who held healing masses.
    Why?
He NEVER mentioned he had done them in the past on arriving at his new parishes. However, the reputation of affects followed him.
He said he always wound up holding them a little reluctantly most Mondays due of parishioner insistence.
He also said NO ONE was more surprised than himself that they seemed to work astonishingly well.
    Amazing.

Agree Father. There are quite a few of us who do just that. And yes, very true Father Goring Miracles do happen. What is actually missing is a back up from responsible Priests who should bless us to strengthen our prayers and also pray over and for us for protection. And this is rare very rare. We should not forget what jesus said to the apostles after he was resurrected and before they went to town to heal the sick and getting rid of demons. Thus Jesus has always been their back up.
