ive determined that if a game had a button that just kills you in 10 seconds, but makes a funny sound, spiff would end up dying to it 400 times before he finally stopped pressing it
and then we would ask him to hit it 100 more times after 😭

It steals is such a great game because all the monsters rely on a specific ruleset that they follow, and they are treated like actual *things* that exist in the maze, instead of just randomly appearing in front of you for a cheap jumpscare or a chase you can't avoid.

@@brendonchavez4327 In the first level, it appears somewhere behind you, and you have to flash the monster when he appears to scare em off. Eventually, after enough flashes he goes into chase mode.

It's really common but still scary (off the top of my head green and figure both can see you but actually you can se them both so that's actually really uncommon lol)

He’s not “throwing” the game on purpose, he’s breaking the rules on purpose cause it’s more fun to try and survive your way rather than the games way. And it’s also fun to try and break the game and see what bugs you can find.

Tbf this game was a long while before Garten of Banban so it wasn't really outshined but yeah its a shame that a lot of horror games that break the mold are passed up for the new fnaf fan game or poppy rip off on the block

@@monetary_episode494 This video doesn't do a good job of explaining the game, spiff only looks at the guides of the 2 dudes? There's probably a wiki or a video out there- but basically once you play a few rounds of a gamemdoe the guide unlocks, which tells you about their mechanics entirely.

Something that makes Legs so scary is that it's the one setting the rules. The whole "flash it to make it run away" mechanic sometimes results in a chase, which suggests that it's not actually *scared* of your light, it's just toying with you. It could realistically kill you any time it wants and, when it gets bored, it just decides to chase you instead of playing cat and mouse. Something about an enemy that can defy a mechanic built to let the player defend themselves really hammers home how little control the player has.
Yeah, which is part of why I LOVE this game so much. It's a great game :)
it has also been known to like spectators, suggesting that it is a gameshow host, and that thought is the only reason i slept well last night.

Fun fact, in the star version of shutter mode, he will GO OUT OF HIS WAY to RUN AROUND YOU to get you from behind. It freaking terrifying to see him stand right in front of you, seemingly run away, and then hear footsteps quickly approaching you from behind.

..and if I absolutely have to have a bit of extra light for somereason, like a new moon or smth, I just use my phone flashlight, which can still count as a dark room-
in hide and seek, if you don’t find him by the time you get to one orb, it yells “bad seeker!” and chases you faster than if it hunts three times. scared the shit out of me.
This happened to me in the Junkyard and while I knew of this mechanic, I wasn't expecting it and forgot it existed, so I jumped and nearly died because of it.
7:25 do not underestimate the power of having cold tolerance. When there is a snowstorm and you are trapped inside with some VERY annoying people who are used to the hot weather, you can just nope out and leave them behind.
I have serious cold tolerance, and I must say that this shit is a GIFT. I love walking out into 40 degree weather in like a T-Shirt and Shorts

@@absoultethings4213 It isn't about how you're built. I honestly get cold anytime I go into the frozen section of Walmart. The thing it's about, though, is that you have the mentality to just deal with it. You get that from being in cold climates for a long time.
I used to always think my cold tolerance was dogwater. turns out, it's pretty alright, I just live in a town where mfs go out in their bare ass underwear while there's several feet of snow

honestly I think security breach was a good game, I was disappointed when I saw all the bugs and everything but when spiff and other youtubers started making content with those bugs I started having fun with it, so I don't think I'll have a problem if Ruin has a few bugs

The physics of the objects in The Phantom mode just make me laugh more than anything. I love when boxes get kicked straight at you, and when you start running and stuff just starts flying everywhere xD
first watch of the playthrough i was laughing as the chairs and furniture smacked the player in the face, and they just have to stay silent even if they got bitchsmacked by a table
This game is incredibly well-made, despite the appearance of the graphics. I always love these horror games where something against or after you is going by a set of rules, and then at one point it just breaks those outright, and the flashes of text on the screen are very imposing. It really seems like this is all a big game to this thing, particularly how some parts are deliberately misleading. The way so many of the noises also sound like something between laughing and crying also adds to it, as they seem human and childlike in a way, despite what they are.
“despite the appearance of the graphics.” You say that like the gritty low polygon feeling doesn’t make the monsters feel even more dangerous in their unsettling poor quality, because they truly dont belong here.
(I get what you mean tho lol, I just love the way the graphics make the game actually scarier than it would’ve been if it had looked more “up to date”.)

For the people who are still wondering about the title: the "it" is probably you, and you steal the blue orbs. The monsters AI all revolves around the fact that they're in the maze moving around like you are, making them also practically players of the game as much as you are. Thematically this is also probably why the monsters do so much laughing and saying "game over" and messing with you; They're having fun playing the same game you are. Too bad you didn't get the role of chasing them around.
I love reverse horrors, where you are the monster and kill the players. Those are always fun.
I'd love it if the game had some fancy lore, like what ARE the blue orbs and why do you need to collect them? Is it like the player has been put into a 'real life' pacman? I like the idea that the enemies aren't just flat in a sense - like, they don't feel like they're just conveniently placed at certain intervals to scare the player, it feels like they are their own characters perusing the maze. Makes me wonder if the enemies are meant to have any links to pacman characters or if the maze and orb collecting was unrelated.
Looking back at this point where zeekers made "it steals" and now where lethal company is its just impressive how one person managed to make both of these games with so much content and quality

This game and The Upturned are such unique experiences, I just hate the fact that stupid meme horror games and obvious soulless cash grabs are the ones that get more attention, because this and that game are so much fun, even if you are really scared easily
Another horror game by this developer, The Upturned, is one of my favorite horror games I've ever played. It's not super scary, but it's extremely funny and it's just OOZING with speedrun potential.
The hide and seek mode is simultaneously the scariest and the most hilarious. The monster seems like he’s having so much fun :D

I've seen many play throughs of this game and many people either don't understand or think they understand the mechanics of the first game mode. "Classic"
(This is the information I gathered from playing the game a lot. So, I might be not 100% correct but I do know a lot so trust me.)
Ok. The first we talk about is the player.
1. The player can walk, run, use a radar, and hit doors. By collecting a orb or how spiff calls it. "Morbs" the enemy (Legs) will get more and more aggressive.
2. Running makes him angry. Even if you do it for a short time. (Like if you just do a squeak) and will most likely hit you.
3. Hitting the doors does nothing
4. if you shine the light at the enemy (Legs) he will run away in a random direction to a random place. Failing to do it will get you hurt. You can survive only one. Getting hit twice results in death. BUT if you shine the light at him and he runs into you he will trip you and laugh. And that DOESNT count as a hit.
5. Shining the light on legs too many times will make him go crazy and will chase you. That is the only time when you should run. Ass he will instantly kill you while chasing.
6. Collecting orbs can cause weird effects. Such as walls with an "X" will appear. These however are fake. And if you walk near them after a second it will disappear.
7. After collecting a lot of orbs the walls with have 2 red glowing dots. They are there to trick you into thinking its legs. And the more orbs you get the more they appear.
8. At the last 2-3 orbs legs will emit a blue light and make a similar sound as the orbs to trick you. While he does this you can see him on your radar.
9. LASTLY! About the radar. The radar lets you see the maze and where the orbs are. But it is also affected by light. Meaning in dark areas of the maze it will appear dark in the radar making it so you can't see the walls. BUT if there is a light area or a spot that emits light then it will show it. And also using the radar near legs will not work. And it won't let you open it. And if you are in the radar and legs gets close to you then you get kicked out of the radar. And this works for ALL monsters. Meaning you can use this to help know if it's close by or if it's gone.
Ps. In the harder version it is VERY similar but with a few small changes such as you can always run, and the radar shows everything around you. And that if legs go into a chase enough times, he will just instantly kill you.
(If I forgot to add something then oops.)
I was playing hide n' seek with a friend once.. I hid in her closet multiple times and every time she searched the closet, she didn't search well enough... I literally hid in the same spot at the back wall behind hung clothes onto of something and she didn't know I was there. It was a tiny closet.
YEAH I'm glad Spiff played this game. It's surprisingly scary despite how comedic it is, it's got great sound design and a visceral feeling of being chased.

Hey spiff, have you heard of the FNAF fangame titled Ultra Custom Night? Its an Ultimate Custom Night styled game but with over 700 animatronics. It also has a whole host of easter eggs to find and a campaign mode loosely based on FNAF world. I think you would really enjoy it considering how much you love torturing yourself with brutal challenges.

I think the first monster smacks you if he sees you running, and occasionally sneaks up on you to initiate a chase. Everytime he chased you it was preceded by a couple seconds of heavy breathing.

I wasnt able to catch the stream but i watched the vod, this was a blast of a game and watching you realize you were on track to 100% it made it all the more enjoyable to see the completed game.

I love the waluigi pinball music playing in the background on the deaf phantom challenge, because it feels like a Wario Ware mini game and romoves all threat from the game.

For anyone wondering what the song was on the last level 54:37 it is mario kart: waluigi pinball on the Mario Kart DS
i remember getting 100% in it steals ages ago. And basically the way legs works in the first map is that he gets angry when you run and angry when you shine your light on him, so your basically forced to walk to max the time it takes for him to go full aggro. Once he does have a fit he will calm down a bit but eventually he will get too restless and just kill you. If you know what your doing you can just run the whole time and get everything before he gets too angry. That's how i got the no walking forward achievement was by just running cause of how many repeats i had to do

Running just makes it appear more often. It will still do the angry running thing but at least you won't be out of batteries with 5 orbs left.

As a quebecois, it's not that we're annoyed by english speaking people, it's more that they'll often start in french then realize they can't answer the questions we ask so it's just simpler for us to switch to english everytime lmao, but if you do wanna practice we're always happy to help more people learn!
