  • A project amounting to PHP 15 billion (USD 273 million and also just a fraction compared to infrastructure built for vehicles) aims to build a walkable esplanade across both sides of the 26 kilometer stretch of the Pasig river. The Philippine government has enlisted two main consultants to develop the masterplan (its design, how it interacts with the communities nearby, and how it can help increase the quality of life both of the organisms in the river and also the people surrounding it): William Ti, principal architect of WTA and Paulo Alcazaren, principal of PGAA Creative Design.
The project aims to give people more opportunities to connect with the river.
"We have this very strong connection originally with the river, with our waters. And I think it's important to bring that back - for people to be aware of the importance and value of the river," Ti says.
"The Pasig river has always been a central spine in the history of Manila - economically, socially, politically even. So it's important to reconnect because the Pasig offers an opportunity for a more efficient transportation," says Alcazaren.

We need this along our riverfront in downtown historic Brunswick , Glynn County , Georgia USA 🇺🇸 . And also surrounding the undeveloped St . Andrews Island . This redevelopment project is so well done , thought out , and beautiful . Even the lighting and fountains are exquisite . And the stonework . Great job . Again , we need similar in downtown Brunswick , Georgia along the waterfront . It would also be nice if it connected to our undeveloped historic Brunswick Canal . Both sides of the historic Canal could be done in similar fashion and developed well . If only . 🤔

All rivers should be given an esplanade for the people to use, with several points of interaction and activity throughout the entire stretch. As a resident of Iloilo City with almost 8 esplanades, the firm of Paulo Alcazaren has breathed in a different sense of "mental health" that other similar projects aspire to be. That, plus the redesigning of all our plazas and public markets, we are entering exciting times to be a citizen away from malls and private/corporate ownership, but now towards public spaces and avenues.
I hope more LGUs incorporate these types of solutions. They are not directly income-generating, but their subtlety makes the city livable, which has a lot of impact to ALL its citizens. Here in Iloilo City, with the redesign of sidewalks, more business owners are showing up, and they don't have to pay high rents charged by malls, but can expect almost the same foot traffic.
Hopefully next Iloilo City will install other public infrastructure like a public library, gardens and/or ponds, sports facilities. And of course for sidewalks to be wider and better. Plus enforcement on vehicles illegally parked on sidewalks. Thanks Design for this video!

Any sensible person would conclude that the Pasig Bigyang Buhay Muli (PBBM) project will spur job opportunities, leading to income and food on the table. Compared to the dolomite coastline project, it is a functional initiative that holds great potential for growth in the areas of business, tourism, and transportation. This project will greatly benefit the overall well-being of the community and set the stage for further progress and prosperity.
I have a feeling that the Marcos Foundation may have played a significant role in this audacious project. If this is indeed the case, I cannot fathom how the Marcos family could be so humble as to not publicly acknowledge their role in the funding.
Thank you PBBM and FL Liza❤

Ang GANDA! Hindi mo na kailangang mag-tour pa abroad para lang makakita ng magagandang tanawin.
I was mesmerized by its beauty!

It was a great work of art and engineering/architectural ingenuity to convert this place into this winding esplanade as seen in the map. So proud of you, guys, who have undertaken this challenging, arduous task to make Manila a city we Filipinos will be proud of. Listening to you explain like professors in the classroom and travelogues, so unlike vloggers, is like a "breath of fresh air" --nakaka-proud kayo! More of you should be seen and heard to educate the mass of people out there, to get knowledge/information for free from you the experts in the field.

To make water of Pasig River clean is for the planners of Pasig River to construct sewage treatment plants near the river like the STP at the dolomite beach in Roxas Blvd.
8 STPs for both sides of the 25 kms Pasig River.
But since a big volume of sewage come from Laguna Lake and Marikina River, the planners should consider also constructing 1 STPs for every cities and towns facing Laguna Lake. Four STPs along Marikina River.
The river should be maintain by daily removing the water hyacinth and other garbage.

Are there any plans to integrate properly those massive numbers of sidewalk vendors who would come to take advantage of these opportunities, plans that will allow these small time vendors to do business but not creating chaos, garbage and disorderly. Tourist woukd need these vendors but a dedicated and organise patches of space is ideal, not within the esplanade ofcourse. But a place very close to it. Sanitation certificates and permit should be given to these vendors as well in order to give them sense of legitimacy and accountability for cleanliness.
