    There's a story, probably apocryphal, of how Clearchus, a Spartan exile, when facing death, was asked if he had any last requests. Being a true son of Lacedemon, he asked for a comb, and did what his forbears had done at Thermopylae when facing certain extinction; he combed and dressed his long hair.

    Transparentcy...it was not all successful. Although I personally think it was an amazing military accomplishment. Several times some of the Greeks overestimated themselves and underestimated the enemy.
    In one instance a group of Greeks having been part of a successful raid decided to go back again. Even though
    they were warned by others, possibly Xenophon himself, not to return, rather continue the march. The group expressed the idea that they were superior because they were Greeks and went on the attack. They were defeated and all either captured or killed. As their comrades continued their march to the sea.
