I've luckily never had a bad bookstore manager! On my third bookstore and on my sixth manager, it's all been relatively good. I butted heads with only one manager for a short period of time, but things smoothed out and I see him every once in awhile with a group of former coworkers and we go out for pizza or get together for a Christmas party. I'm still in touch with my very first manager who has since moved to Ohio. I guess I was just lucky, up until I was laid off that is. 😥

Nice find of murder mysteries!! I haven't seen that biography of Edgar Allen Poe before. Fun cover, as always, on Dorothy Sayers. Thank you

I had lost control and now I have to collect 18 books weighing about 8 kilograms from a bookshop that also works as online bookshop. Any tips on finding and domesticating muscular teenagers in such a short time?

"Cargo of Eagles" was left unfinished when she died in 1966
It was completed by her husband, I think.
Not sure how much is Allingham and how much her husband.

Have you tried the Martha's Vineyard mysteries by Philip Craig? They are delightful. Reading them is like an armchair vacation on The Vineyard.

I think I tried one of those, years ago - I'll put them on my list!

The last manager Kelly and I had at Barnes & Noble was also a heartless android. I would take vacation days just to be away from him.

Old Blue's Chapter and Verse How did I miss that you two were also Barnes & Noble employees like me and Steve?!

I've had cats who've caught pigeons; unfortunately the pigeons got away - just too big!

I've enjoyed many of the works of Henry James, but yikes, The Golden Bowl was just tedious and awful! That book really put me off him for a long time. His only work on my shelf, and it's been sitting there for years unread, is The Princess Casamassima.
