No it's not :) I believe it's called a Jiu Jie Bian (Best term in english for it is probably a 'chain whip'). You can actually find some videos on youtube of monks using the Jiu Jie Bian if you just search for it. PS. Another really cool oriental weapon that I love is the Meteor Hammer (sounds fucking cool, I know). The Meteor Hammer was used most famously by Gogo Yubari in Kill Bill Vol1, when she fought Beatrix.

They are probably playing with the double meaning of "complemento", which can be interpreted as accessory (like jewelry, and thus jade, is) but also "complement" as in "aid, help, reinforcement", hinting at the jade golem army sort of mechanic.
