I love your gardening👏👏
VERY MUCH Looking Forward to all these bulbs blooming!!!
Beautiful with the moss, look forward to seeing the blooms thanks for sharing 👍❤️😊
Thank you, for sharing! Looking forward to the season!🌷
Thank you for the video. I learned a lot about your bulbs. Can't wait to see them bloom. ❤
I always learn so much from you! The bloopers are the best! Lolol. Can’t wait to see blooms. God bless. 👏🏻💕👏🏻
Great idea! I have a outside entry I don’t use too!
Thank you for sharing you knowledge. I learn things I didn’t know were options in cute informative ways.
You are so welcome!
I really love how you showed the bloopers at the end of the videos😄
Glad you liked it!!
I love the idea of repotting them. I planted 15 bowels of daffodils and tulips for gifts this spring. Time to bring them into the greenhouse so they can emerge.
I wish I had done this! Can’t wait to see🌷👍
Great video can’t wait to see them in bloom.
My forced paperwhites are peeking out too!! So happy 😁
Found this incredibly helpful - fabulous
details on temperature, humidity etc. (your video edit at the end made me LOL 😆)
Thank you for the video! So great to be planting in the winter 👍
Those stairs have so much character, what a perfect spot!
I think I had some beginners luck with my Amarylis bulbs. I just cut the last of the flower stocks on the 3 bulbs I had. Just noticed one of the bulbs has another flower stock poking its head up!!! Surprise! My paperwhites are so slooooow even though in a south window planted at same time as Amarylis. Only 1 of the 5 has a flower bud on it and is a foot+ tall. 🤷🏻♀️.
Oh my goodness! You are always right in time. Mine are popping up.
Great information! Thank you!
Love the moss touch, well done!
And the outtakes are so much fun! Thank you for showing that side of gardening!
I’m definitely going to try this next year. I can’t wait to see all these blooms😍
Wonderful, relaxing video. Lovely "Spring in Paris" kind of music, too!
Glad you enjoyed it
What a handy spot to have!
Right? these old houses have so many creepy and useful nooks 😂
Золушка ты наша, сколько труда ты прикладываешь, чтобы наконец увидеть их во всей красе!!!!!!!
спасибо Мамуль!
😍Ohmyheart! You’ve inspired so many bulb forcing projects for me this season! I’ve now gifted, forced, grown and inspired family members, ladies at church and neighbors from here in NC to FL with bulbs, winter greens and now....MOSS! 🤩I’m so loving your ideas.
Thank youuuu! Be blessed & Happy New Year!
So glad to hear!
Can’t wait to see them all 💕
I can’t wait to see them bloom!! I am home bound and I think this will be a very good option for me!!
So sorry! We do not go anywhere either so this is a real treat 😁😊
I actually followed your tutorial in Nov and planted 2 pots with hyacinths for the first time. One topped with pebbles and the other with moss harvested from the North side of my house. Mine still have about 2 more weeks in the fridge, and I can’t wait for the blooms. Thanks for the easy to follow tutorials and great ideas.
Thank you!
I have white & purple crocus coming out into bloom ( summer here) 🇦🇺👌love them in your terracotta Yulia 🥰 appreciate your knowledge as it’s so good to learn from other countries even though we are opposite seasons it still counts 🙌🧤👒🦘🐨🇦🇺🪴
So interesting Karen!! 😁😊
Thanks a lot, I exactly got moss but was not sure how to decorate 🙏
Ok 👍
Look forward to seeing blooms. I’ve learned so much from your videos. Forcing bulbs new to me look forward to trying this fall. 🌷
They're going to be gorgeous.
Few more weeks!
I love your videos. Thank you so much for the great tips & wonderful inspiration. I love that you have discovered a renewed use for your old basement steps. Happy New Year friend!
Me too! 😁
I might try and force bulbs in my basement next year. I use it for overwintering tubers since it is cool, dark and dry, but I might get a thermometer like yours to see how cold it gets and if it fluctuates to see if forcing bulbs there might be an option. You have given me food for thought!
Yes, thermometer is very useful!
The bottom of a dark closet works well for my hyacinth in an apartment.
Can hardly wait to see after they bloom!
Me too!
Darn! I wish I had forced bulbs this year. Looks so easy and fun. Thanks for the info. I’m marking my calendar so I won’t forget this fall.
It really is!
Thank you so much for the follow through. I enjoy seeing how it is going!
The moss looks so fresh and green! What I purchase is usually dried green. Did you harvest it from your garden?
Yes I did, you can get super moss from hobby stores or amazon. it looks pretty good
How do you know how long you must chill your bulbs for? You mentioned that the tulips were not ready yet. I may have missed that information or I quite possibly forgot, I’m betting on forgot. Is there a reference chart somewhere I can look at? Your home is going to be beautiful with all of your forced blooms. Do worry about the basement, older homes are notorious for having creepy basements. Mine does💚🙃
Yes! I posted it back in November's video description. Will add to this one as well
I don’t see that in the description
Love u n ur talent Yulia
Thanks for sharing this video 🌷. I love the moss topping idea, I covered mine with Lemon Lime Sedum. But I will try moss on my next one.
What a great idea
Love all the bulbs you've planted - thanks for sharing your how to's, I really enjoy your videos. Learning so much. Have a question about tulip & daffodil bulbs I bought. I planted them in pots (like yours) but I did not put them in the frig or cooler. Just have them sitting out under my back patio out of sunlight. I live in Southern California, so it doesn't get that cold. Night time temperatures have been 46-48 degrees; daytime 58-62 degrees right now. Do you think they will be ok? When should I put them out in sunlight and watering them? I'm hoping they will bloom ok.
This is tough. They need to be chilled at 35-45 degrees. However!! Some suppliers store bulbs in cold so there is a chance they are prechilled already. You can try putting them out and see what happens 😊
I’m doing this for the first time but what do I do with them after they bloom? Do I need to plant them in the ground?
Yes you can! they will live outside happily
I love the moss as a dressing, only one problem so does my puppy ! Moss on the floor, the sofa her furr 🤨 I now have to move my bulbs up high enough she can’t reach 😎🇫🇷❤️
O boy, puppies are trouble 😂😂
Wow, it’s so nice to see all those bulbs ready to bloom! I had forced some hyacinth bulbs in a pot in the garage about 2 months back but don’t see any new growth yet (I’m in zone 5). Not sure if there’s still hope or they just didn’t survive.
Look at the bottom of the pot. are there roots? sometimes there is not new growth but if the bulbs are rooted you can take them to a warm spot
Thanks so much for the response. I did dig a little in the pot and checked on one of the bulbs. There seems to be some new green growth on top of the bulb but that growth is no where near the top of the pot. Is it possible that my bulbs are too deep in the pot? Should I get the pot out of the garage and put in the porch( I forgot to drill holes at the bottom of the pot🙃)? Thanks so much for your help!
Great Video I'm gonna try this next fall.. can i keep forcing these bulbs over again like my Amaryllis bulbs
Thank you, great info, will try next year. The moss is a lovely touch. Is it preserved or live?
This is a live moss from the garden but Super moss works just as well
I have problem inside with bulns. They grow tall and bloom quickly inside. Too much heat and too dark. When I leave them at loggia outside I can enjoy the flowers for few weeks.
Yes! So true!
Where do I need to go to find how many months to keep my lilies trees bulbs in fridge
Love to force bulbs also helps to get through the winter months. I used orchid bark instead of moss as that was what I had. Keep mine in a unseated garage. Please show when the bloom.
O that's a great idea!
Is the moss from your garden? They are all going to be so beautiful!
Yes! we have lots of moss
How cold do you need to keep them while they’re flowering to keep them happy?
I have never forced bulbs before. I have 16 large hyacinth bulbs in a bag in my basement fridge. I thought I could put them in pots in the spring or should I just go put them in the ground outdoors instead. I am in NE Ohio 6a.
Your ground is probably frozen so I would put in pots now.
I love the moss! It looks very fresh and healthy...not dry and preserved. Where do you source that?
from my garden 😂
@@ydoyougarden lol, ok, I have some bits around my yard...I'll try sourcing that!😉😊
Did you have to water the bulbs in your basement or fridge? Can’t wait for the flowers 🌸, thanks Yulia
Once or twice
I'm so jealous i was going to force when I watched your video got busy and I forgot
there is always next year. actually this year, you can start forcing this year in fall
Mine have turned out fantastic, Yuliya. Thank you so much. One question, what happens to the bulbs once the flowers have gone. Should I leave them in the pot, plant them outside or just get rid of them? Thanks again.
You can plant outside when you can dig the ground.
Thanks. So, they won't come again next year if I just leave them in the pot?
How about a whole video of bloopers, like a look back at the year 2020?
I mean, if ANY year fits a blooper reel, it's 2020!!
O boy! that would be overwhelming 😂
@@ydoyougarden or it could fun!
How did the basement temps compare to your outside temps during the forcing period? Was it generally warmer or colder outside?
The temperature swings in the last two months outside were between 10 and 60 degrees. In the basement the temperature is much more even
I REALLY want to do this but our wood burner keeps our basement hot and the garage is too cold. Do you think I could keep them in a large cooler in the garage to keep them from freezing? 🤔
I think so or maybe double pot for more insulation and cover with frost blanket on top
I put my bulbs in the frig just in the bags , not in dirt!!! lol do you think they will bloom if i put the in a pot now ?
I have tried that for a few years and the flowers were worse quality than planted in soil right away. The tulips especially, they come out underdeveloped.
@@ydoyougarden I did this too - got a small dorm fridge & put bags of bulbs in it... as I didn't have room to put planted pots... now it's been about 12 weeks & trying to figure out what my next step is - what I really like is creating a bulb garden - a couple bulbs of several different plants as they grow for about a month when I buy them preplanted at the store.... but wanted to try it this year b/c of being stuck inside more..... hopefully I see more videos about this from others.... we too have an old house & need to get a thermometer to see what the temp is in the basement
Question: is it too late to do this now? My local Sam's had some Daffodils on sale and I would love a gorgeous springtime/Easter centerpiece for my tables. My refrigerator has an adjustable temp setting and I could set them at 32 degrees. Is that a low enough temp to force them in time for Easter?
Hmm, you can definitely try!
Hi. What do I do if my Lily bulbs are budding too early. I still have a month of freezing weather and they are sending up shoots and leaves in the garage. My last frost is not until May 15th.
Can you put in the fridge? Unheated garage or basement? You need to lower the temps asap
Nice video! Off topic question. I planted some encore azaleas this fall in CT 6B. They’ve dropped most of their foliage and look mostly dead. Any chance they bounce back this spring? Should I dig them up and put them in a sunny window?
No. Wait until spring and give them a month or so. If no new growth happens they are goners.
Can the dried preserved moss be used as a soil covering?
Absolutely! I like Super moss
@@ydoyougarden thank you!
Do you dig up and save the bulbs after they are done blooming?
Yes! the hyacinths, crocuses and muscari do really well after planting out in the garden. Tulips and daffodils do not.
My hyacinths bulbs are practically the same as yours but I'm starting to see the flower buds but unfortunately there is small white bugs in the soil like some kind of soil mits
Any ideas on how to get rid of it? Please
I actually had really good luck with Safer brand insect killing soap. My violas had the worst aphid infestation and that took care of it.
First like
👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏
