His brief moment in the IDW comic was really sweet. Optimus takes time to comfort him in his dying moments, despite him being a Decepticon, and laments the death and destruction Bludgeon has caused.
I think it's kind of heartwarming to see the Legacy toy - after so many years, Iguanus finally got what he wanted most, and became an organic reptile for real.
@@cyberprime9355 The original toy is pretty lame, even for a Pretender. It irks me how little thought went into it. The Legacy toy would have better even if it had an actual butt for a face.
It's really interesting that of all old Pretenders, Iguanus was first to get new toy with idea of his robot mode based on shell look while vehicle mode is based on inner robot. As I own Legacy Iguanus, can say his pretty awesome and well articulated.
He's the first in Legacy, and did good so we got Bomb-Burst and Skullgrin as well. RotF Bludgeon started the Pretender/Robot mode fusion... but what we need is a more G1 style Bludgeon doing this.
I remember extremely hating the pretenders for some reason (except Bludgeon ofc) and now the decepticon pretenders are one of my favorite things to ever come from transformers thanks to your videos :D, great work
Man, this series is great. I really wish there was a Basics video for both Metroplex and Fortress Maximus since Trypticon and Scorpinok got their own videos.
I picked up a Legacy Iguanus in October, it is a great figure! And knowing that he inspired one of the few decepticons in RID 2015 that I liked was great as well!
I remember thinking it was weird that he came back fine later in the comic, despite seemingly being killed when he got electrocuted and fell off the tower. Guy had more plot armor than almost all other characters in that comic.
I remember that issue of the Marvel comic pretty well, it and the issue where Skullgrin becomes a movie star were some of the "this comic is getting kinda weird" year that was going on between issues 50 and 60. I always liked Iguanus' design though, sadly I never had his toy.
I still have the Transformers comic book issue that Igaunus and all of the other Original Pretenders debuted in. I recently picked up the Legacy figure, which I think is pretty cool.
I've never heard of this character before. I think it's a shame that a character named Iguanus was never given and ALT mode that was actually an iguana. Also I think it's a missed opportunity that he was only given a toy for Beast Wars and not actually featured in the show.
I kinda like how Legacy is treating the beastly Pretenders in a similar way to how Transmetal upgrades in Beast Wars functioned: An inverse of the expected play pattern of an organic outer layer hiding a robot. But whereas Transmetals are mechanical beasts hiding organic robots, Legacy's Decepticon Pretenders are organic-looking beasts that turn into biomechanical vehicles. In a way, they still fit the name; They're monsters "pretending" to be technological creations.
Had a soft spot for Iguanus' Beast Wars incarnation because he was my first purchase for the BW toyline back in the day. And by fun coincidence, Core Class Iguanus was my first Legacy purchase.
The only Iguanus i knew of was the Beast Wars character, his toy is kinda cute not going to lie, and Crazybolt from Neo Never even realised he was in Stormbringer, though its been a while since ive read it

I used to own both the Beast Wars and Transmetal 2 versions of Iguanus back when I first started collecting Transformers figures. I loved the spring-loaded projectile gimmick on his Transmetal 2 version, since it gave him an added feature, aside from just converting between 2 modes. Something I wish more modern day Transformers figures would have.
Someone once mentioned poking around the code for Iguanus's Legacy bio page (the QR code in the instructions) and finding a commented-out bio that was talking about the Beast Wars guy.
I wasn't into the later part of G1 transformers so at the time of Beast Wars had no idea Iguanus was a reused name. It had the right animal+suffix combination like Cheetor and Waspinator to sound like one of the new names.
I really really love crazybolt in RID. while he has a stupid motivation and personality, I love his voice and design. something about his dinosaur like design turning into a car made me fall in love with this goofy character
You know, I think there is potential for a great story. Several of the G1 pretenders get involved in a space bridge accident, and emerge in new forms that combine their robot and shell forms like Iguanas. Hmm, what would they do?
I’m a fan of the Legacy Pretenders. Being their actual robot forms. Really cool. It kinda defeats the point of the Pretender gimmick, but it was never really a good one. They just look cool. Maybe they can be reimagined as natives of the Jungle Planet. I’m really hoping for a Leader Class Bludgeon and a Commander Class Thunderwing.
We have a Bludgeon that's unfortunately a new-head retool and redeco of Legacy Tarn based on Bludgeon's IDW 2019 look. A Leader-class IDW 2005 Bludgeon and Commander-class IDW 2005 Thunderwing would be absolutely sick though!
That minicon that RID Iguaus is packaged with looks an awful lot like a Bakugan; I wouldn't be surprised if it was the remains of some sort of Transformers and Bakugan collab
That was actually the gimmick of the RID "Deployer" toys - the Mini-Cons all turned into balls, torpedoes and buzzsaws that could be launched by the larger toys.

Given his recent appearance as a cameo in "Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special" I'd love to see Cy-Kill covered. (I know he's a GoBot, but the show has covered GoBots and Bug Bite, before, so I'm sure exceptions could be made!)
Oh heck yeah! Despite not knowing much about pretenders I’m very partial to the concept, and even more so to reptiles! Most versions of iguanus sound really cool!
Love your videos, I remember seeing a version of his transmetal 2 form on a comic that came on a CD-ROM during the Armada days that had games and episodes on it. I think the story had him getting taken and imprisoned by Unicron in the middle of a battle so that he could feed off the energy. He was battling a brown Optimus Primal with a red head if I remember correctly
Iguanas was a pretty sweet toy both in the 80s and during 90s BeastWars toyline! Sure he wasn't well known like Bludgeon or even Terrorsaur, but a lizard like transformer is always awesome! I'm glad he's gotten some attention over the years and in this video!
Oh the Pretenders... "Don't worry everyone! It's not a Transformer! It's just a 30 ft tall lizard demon from hell. Everything will be just fine." What a disguise. That said I do love the Pretenders.
