That was quite fun, Sophie! I love how David is into fashion and goes shopping with you, and can give you good advice. Even though we can't see him it's nice to hear his voice! Happy Christmas to you both.
Terrible advice today! A preowned t-shirt is the worst possible luxury 'investment'. If it turns out to be fake it's also embarrassing. Balmain used t shirts are also terrible, often with holes from the metal buttons scratching against the jersey fabric. Just wrong on every level. If you can't afford luxury don't go there. Concentrate on keeping warm and thrifting. IMO.
I picked up a Christian Dior belt for 30.00 In a thrift store . I have several Armani jackets at thrift stores and then had them tailored. Mens Dior scarves, several at Salvation Army. Buying authentic goods from Japan is pretty safe. If I were a man I would consider: a watch, edmonds shoes, signet ring, ties, Italian jacket ( tailored), Burberry coat, belt . I have bought all these things for my husband at thrift stores.
wowie what a find!! Awesome. ❤ The thrift stores here in North America get picked through by resellers so much that nowadays, it's impossible to find anything actually good. Super envious of you! You got some cool stuff!! ❤ x
I actually LOVED this video format! This is how my brain works, the back and forth, it was refreshing to feel as though I was sitting in on a conversation instead of being talked at the way so many do. You don’t which is why I’ve stuck around, but I really appreciate that you both feel comfortable doing this. This is the kind of authenticity I’m looking for from content creators.
David made some good points, a luxury starter kit can't really include a £3k bag! Loved your sub's idea of replacing her Zara buttons with Chanel, great touch! Merry Christmas to you and David! 🎄💕 xx
I love how David is mentioning the pre loved market, its a great idea to just start off building a luxury collection through smaller more sustainable purchases
I loved hearing David's thoughts on this and I have to agree with him on his initial thoughts. To me, something that isn't sized is a good place to start because if you lose or gain weight, something very tailored is going to end up not fitting. Accessories like pins, belts, earrings--all great places to start.
Loved hearing David’s take on this! There is so much more to luxury than spending several thousand $$. Learning how to build a luxury wardrobe with basic items like belts, brooches, and so on makes it all the more fun to try to elevate the items that we already do own. Merry Christmas!
T-shirt, no matter how expensive, is never a luxury item. And the prices are ridiculous! A belt, a nice coat or a jacket, sunglasses, a nice hat or even a more affordable bag and some accessories are a good start.
T-shirts no matter who makes them cost less than 7 pounds to make from start (sourcing the materials) to finish. Buying a blazer is better for the starter kit. I notice the items named are logo driven, rather then style driven.
It was fun to watch. I’ve picked up a Gucci cap and a LV belt at a designer preloved store in a basement store in Auckland NZ, where the lady doesn’t even have eftpos or a mobile phone. She knows the clients that she buys off and they look authentic. Preloved is the way to go, if you can’t afford new.
Love the casual everyday chatting 🤩 It is surprisingly entertaining to listen to while hanging laundry 😆😘 Merry Christmas and God Jul Sofhie and David from a long time follower from Sweden 🇸🇪🌟🎄
I was looking for ivory belt with silver buckle, but couldn’t find it. Later I bought Ferragamo grey belt with silver buckle and realised that you can take it off and put another leather belt into it. So I ordered an ivory leather belt of certain width and length from local artisan with specific wholes diameter and here it is - unlimited amount of Ferragamo belts of whatever colour I want for fraction of the price.
Hi Sophie, I really enjoy videos you and David make together. It's so nice and lovely to get to share a part of your world with both your company. I also love how engaged he is in your passion. 😊
For everyday wear, Massimo Dutti do fantastic basic teeshirts for about £40. Primark do the exact same ones (in terms of quality, stitching, colour) but for £15. They wash the same. I know a lot of people don't like primark, but there are many who like a certain look but don't have the budget.
These are not luxury items but if you are going for the logoless “quiet luxury” vibe, Uniqlo classic cotton T-shirts are a great, if not the best, option. I got 2 when I was in France and they are the most beautiful, thick and structured (but soft) cotton. Pair one of those with a blazer, some classy jewelry and a denim midi skirt or jeans and you can really elevate an outfit. They’re so good.
My most beloved pair of sunglasses came from TJ Maxx here in the US. A gorgeous pair of dark green Ralph Lauren, made in Italy, in my fave rounded cat eye shape...$6.
OR don't waste money on a bunch of used belts and poor quality costume jewellery but buy a bag instead. You'll end up spending a lot of money on the little things while still wanting the bag. So in the end you'll spend more. I'd just go for the bag, bite the bullet.
I think fragrances are a good start! Nice to "see" David and hear his thoughts... he always provides great feedback. I'd love to know his favorite perfumes for women
People are entitled to like what they like but I feel like we are putting to much emphasis on these huge luxury brands. People believe that they are best quality but the reality is in the recent years your paying more for the name then the actual quality. It’s almost better quality to find a local seamstress or designer to make a custom item.
Merry Christmas!! David's insight is spot on. Personally, investing in that you will wear on the regular. Quality lasts, so purchase better quality when replacing items in your wardrobe.
I loved this video! I really enjoy David’s expertise when shopping! I wish I had him as a shopping buddy! Merry Christmas to you, David, your bunnies and both your family’s 🙏 xoxo Amrita 💕
Its so nice to hear David’s opinions, he has really good views on these things!! I feel like a budget is irrelevant now with the new prices. Its more the cheapest item that you can use day to day with a logo ie. card holder, a ring …
Preloved, you can get a Gucci or fendi belt, a fendi t shirt, A Chanel sweater, brooch, or earrings if you look and are a good shopper, for leas than 400 USD.and you can get crazy deals on vintage Gucci.
I just found a vintage Hermes skirt I’ve been drooling over online for $100. You can get Starter pieces, you just have to be willing to look and sometimes wait. Starter kit is belt, shoes, scarves 🧣 or Twilleys, things that can be purchased for sensible prices. I agree with David Bags aren’t starter priced anymore. Their as bad as Ready to wear.
My starter items were Burberry scarves and the infamous Gucci Marmont GG belt! I’ve since built up more of a collection but I do find bags hard to justify with the prices nowadays. I bought one from Polène recently and the quality is beautiful!
This was great some good points. I would say a Luxary starter kit is not possible in todays climate unless you fake it until you make it. Otherwise just save up for the bag or maybe some footwear or eyewear 💜
You guys are such a cute and inspiring couple, you are both very blessed to have found each other, as it is a perfect match. Wish you a very blessed Christmas ❤🙏🏻
It’s always fun hearing David’s commentary and humor. Those luxury branded items like t shirts, etc. are not authentic. If EBay does not authenticate them you are taking your chances or it doesn’t matter to a person whether they are or not. $150 for a fake is still a lot of $$$.
Hi Sophie! I really enjoyed this video. It was interesting to hear the back and forth with David and both of you having different opinions! Thanks for posting it. Hppe you both have a lovely Christmas ❤ 🎄 😊
Well that's why I (male) specifically avoid the brands mentioned in this video: too expensive. I've been building my wardrobe for about a year now, mostly focusing on materials, and brands that are less known: Canali, Maurizio Baldassari, Eton, Sunspel, etc. I do have one shirt by Brunello Cucinelli, and a scarf and a few bandanas from Hermès. One T-shirt from Comme des Garçons Play. I would never wear a Gucci belt. Also good point about beards pulling on scarves. I haven't worn out any yet, but I have a beard so it will happen eventually.
Love this topic … invisible David is really good with luxury brands …credit card holders are a good luxury starter item 😂Merry Christmas to you both ❤️
That's where i started. Small leather goods, then a necklace, then a bag. And now I'm done. I just wanted a few small designer items to add something different to my look. But I don't want to be all designer, all the time.
I will go with a coach bag or LV monogram bag like an alma bb or anything around £1000. Next will be a nice jacket. The last thing I will buy is fine jewellery because they are so expensive.
Definitely enjoyable video! But I would and did buy a bag first. LV used belt is $500, Hermes more. I bought the Celine belt, I really love it. I do love the new Chanel little cropped t- shirt. Was shocked to see it’s 2000+!
many eBay items are most likely knockoffs, even the more pricey items could be knockoffs. I would go for the cheaper items; most people out and about cant tell if its real or not especially if the quality looks good! XD
Just curious, does anyone know why “designer” T-shirts are so expensive? Is the cotton hand grown and the item stitched by hand? I’m being a little snarky but seriously, what makes such a basic item so expensive?
Tbh, I'd never buy a designer t-shirt - too much money for something that isn't going to last! Belts and scarves, definitely. I wouldn't say I've moved much beyond "entry level", but my one splurge has been my Loewe Puzzle, otherwise I've stuck mainly to scarves. I do have a Gucci belt, but not one with a logo buckle (I actually prefer Elliot Rhodes for belts, non logo, but as discreet or loud as you like). I also have Isabel Marant trainers, and wouldn't rebuy, as they're not leather lined and I've worn a hole in the lining, I have non designer ones that have worn loads better.
I really enjoyed your video I owe socks from dior and chanel, also a couple of hair accessories and scarf and belt because I cannot afford more fancy stuff and of course the perfumes of dior and chanel makes me happy so I feel complete Happy holidays
We love “invisible” David!
This was fun. Happy Holidays to you both!
Thanks for sharing.✨
Yes why is David not on camera anymore?

The back-and-forth with you and your husband was oddly wholesome and adorable.
You guys are so cute together. And the way u look at him while he is speaking. I just love it. This was a great video to hear his perspective. ❤

It was great to hear you and David just chatting. Loved the more casual video.
I love this, I wish more guys knew as much about fashion as David does!
Loved hearing David’s take on this! There is so much more to luxury than spending several thousand $$. Learning how to build a luxury wardrobe with basic items like belts, brooches, and so on makes it all the more fun to try to elevate the items that we already do own. Merry Christmas!
My dear Sophie, please do more of this kind of video, just love the spontaneous conversation and the nature of the content ♥️♥️♥️ Merry Christmas 🎄
Appreciate David’s take on this!✨

It’s so lovely to see the love in your eyes when you interact in your lux vlog with your husband David
Loved the casual chat!
David should become a regular. He is Insightful - and I enjoyed his perspective.

I actually enjoyed just listening to you casually chatting with each other. Good to hear things from Davids POV.
I would ad : a card holder, depending of the brand it's not that expensive and you can enjoy it everyday
Love the casual everyday chatting 🤩 It is surprisingly entertaining to listen to while hanging laundry 😆😘
Merry Christmas and God Jul Sofhie and David from a long time follower from Sweden 🇸🇪🌟🎄
There are definitely guys out here watching regularly. Thanks for your content and for David’s contributions today. Merry Christmas to you both! 🎄🎄🎄
Y'all are so cute together- thank you for your input, David!

I think a good starter item too would be a silk bandeau those are normally like $250ish from Fendi, LV, Dior.
For everyday wear, Massimo Dutti do fantastic basic teeshirts for about £40. Primark do the exact same ones (in terms of quality, stitching, colour) but for £15. They wash the same. I know a lot of people don't like primark, but there are many who like a certain look but don't have the budget.

Tk Maxx have some amazing designer accessories with great savings. Merry Christmas to everyone x
My most beloved pair of sunglasses came from TJ Maxx here in the US. A gorgeous pair of dark green Ralph Lauren, made in Italy, in my fave rounded cat eye shape...$6.
Agreed. Gucci in general is a good “starter” brand,
The sad thing about these starter kits...they are so basic but still cost a lot
I have loved hearing David’s opinions on this 😂
Thank you David! Still here 🙂
Welcome David and hugs and love to you this season ❤️💚🙏 thanks for joining us

David is a really intelligent individual and it's great to hear his input. Would love to hear his opinion on more topics in the future.
Merry Christmas!! David's insight is spot on. Personally, investing in that you will wear on the regular. Quality lasts, so purchase better quality when replacing items in your wardrobe.
Hi Sophie. You can actually buy Chanel buttons on preloved and make them into a brooch. Happy Christmas both x
Going with David's suggestion to dress up a normal pair of jeans, I would have a shirt custom made. To me that's luxury.
Even these days, bargains can be found but it is harder than it used to be. Thank you for the video. Have a lovely Christmas Day!
I'm fascinated by the innovative designs featured in this list. It's impressive to see how these luxury items push the boundaries of creativity.
I loved this video! I really enjoy David’s expertise when shopping! I wish I had him as a shopping buddy! Merry Christmas to you, David, your bunnies and both your family’s 🙏 xoxo Amrita 💕

Great video. I love the back and forth with you and David.
I would be cautious about buying luxury off eBay. A seller could slap a high price on a fake item just to give the expression that it’s genuine.
You both are the sweetest. I really enjoyed listening to your conversation.❤
I think David brings some good ideas with the preloved market! You two are so cute together☺
Bravo David for pitching in his perspective. What a cool and fun topic. I would suggest a great pair of sunglasses as well.🕶😎
Love hearing from both of you. You two have a fun dynamic!

David is too cute, helping you out. Wish we could see his face, but I understand. 💜
It was fun to be a part of this chat with you and "invisible" David. Merry Christmas!
How lively this vid was with you two! Thanks and merry Christmas to you
Just added a brooch pin to my camellia whilst watching this video! Such a wonderful idea, turned out beautifully!
Happy holidays and sending you love💖
Really enjoying these content videos over these a holiday break days!
Vlog suggestion: David’s fave luxury purchases, this is perfect topic for your male subbies 😍 more power Sophie, Love from the Philippines
I’m happy to hear from David about fashion. My husband has a good advice for me too. Merry Christmas and happy New Year to both of you. ❤🎉🎄

great video, my luxury starter kit was a designer fragrance, 180.00 preloved dior belt 375, mens quilted trench by burberry, fendi hat,
You guys are such a cute and inspiring couple, you are both very blessed to have found each other, as it is a perfect match. Wish you a very blessed Christmas ❤🙏🏻
Twillies from Hermès or Dior is another good place to start. Also Hermès Glenan bracelets are also good purchase (specially if you visit the EU)
I love the occasional David appearance ^_^ Merry Christmas to you both!
It’s always fun hearing David’s commentary and humor.

Next minute, David will get hooked and end up on the vlogs! hehe
I enjoyed the video and nice to hear David’s voice and thoughts. Happy Christmas to you both 💜🇨🇦
Hi Sophie! Happy Holidays 🎁🌲🎄🎅
You should read about Donna Karan’s 7 easy pcs for women.
many eBay items are most likely knockoffs, even the more pricey items could be knockoffs. I would go for the cheaper items; most people out and about cant tell if its real or not especially if the quality looks good! XD
I always believe that if someone wanted to start their luxury collection, one should buy a luxury watch.
How did I miss this one lol Love the starter kit chit chat
Just curious, does anyone know why “designer” T-shirts are so expensive? Is the cotton hand grown and the item stitched by hand? I’m being a little snarky but seriously, what makes such a basic item so expensive?
Vinted is my fave! I got so many amazing pieces from there at under €100, especially D&G clothing, Jimmy Choo shoes and small accessories
Good points David !!! Great vlog
This was a great style of video.
I love this style of video. Maybe you could sprinkle this in once in a while.
Hello my sister Sophie hugs and love to you and yours this holiday season ❤️💚🙏
David’s price radar is definitely off 😊
Happy Christmas to You Both 🤗🤗🍾🥂🤶🎄⛄🎅
You have a lovely relationship with your husband. Xx
Vivienne Westwood is a good brand the price point is not as high as other brands
David sounds like that Dad who gifts his daughter a “New” Chanel bag from EBay for $100 for her 16th Birthday 😂
“Thanks Dad” 😆
David just knows the value of a $1.00. He’s going to get his money 💰 worth
This video is fun 😂💖
