Silat used for wars in ancient Indonesia , used by the troops when the gun not yet created. the rule is kill or to be killed. So silat is not suitable for sport there's no sportivity on wars.' That's it
I can say the same to Wrestling. Striking art like Muay Thai or pugilist belongs to rings to entertain nobles. Most of the world like Mongolian, Chinese, Turkey and whole Europe,vvv wrestled on battlefield. Don’t discredit Wrestling.
Silat is for war. So is wrestling, boxing, muay. And they are all can use for sports. Silat is kind of useless.

I do a little of jungle warfare which basically is Salat, and various Kung Fu perspectives, Akido and some kick boxing Mui Thai type...

I was surprised with many silat practicioner gets triggered here. If they can just silent and stop bragging, they can start thinking how to deal with this kind of takedown. Silat start with sparring, then learning, not start with sparring, then bragging. When they start bragging they stop learning. When they stop learning they get stupid. Stop with mentality "i was better than other" thing, it was not a soul of silat martial art, and never be.

To me silat is same as Mma,, in silat after you finish learning from this guru, you can fine another guru or different martial art like muay thai,different in another martial art who need to fokus on one style of martial art only. That why silat master know so many styles of silat and different martial art.
scissor takedown is the most common technique to earn point faster in tournament.
Good to see cross training. Next, need to pressure test the techniques in different intensity levels of sparring. That leg scissor take down is quite dangerous. It is banned in judo and BJJ competitions, typically.

It’s not quite kani basami. He doesnt have the grips and he is sitting his butt down. That means he cannot hang around with his legs, drop his upper body/hips near the knee, and as a result put a lot of torque and weight on the knee.

Try to look at where the person’s weight is. It’s very different. The guy in this video puts most of his weight on the ground. I don’t think it’s nearly as dangerous.

MMA fighters need more strength to takedown the opponents, while silat provides a solution to takedown opponents with little strength that can be done by everyone.
Lol all I can say if he meaning the Silat practioneer dont have a functional ground game he will end up being ground and pound if the scissor sweeps don't work. You always need a plan b for high risk take downs

@@agussupriyanto5013 but groin shots can not be the foundation. You have to have real functional skills in kick boxing clinch and ground. If you want to learn how to fight you must practice with someone fighting back
Silat doesn't work for Muaythai, MMA or Kickboxing fighting, but It's really work to destroy regular people.
@@Ariezzable I disagree with you. It can work in the MMA but you need to learn clinch wrestling to make it work due to you needing connection to allow a person to off balance then take them down. You just have to remove the foul tactics. Silat works well when combined with Greco Roman wrestling. You can train Silat through Burton Richardsons JKD Unlimited curriculum.

the biggest thing people need to realize is that martial arts and fighting for survival are two different things, you can be a really accomplished martial artist, but if you never sparred with a person who's not "feeding" you the technique, you'll never be able to apply that to real life.
Real sparring with uncooperative partners is what you need, if you want to attempt to recreate even a sliver of realism.
No wonder a silat grandmaster many years ago complaint about how Malay kids nowadays lack flexibility/agility due to modern culture and lifestyle, and how in the olden days children were shaped for silat since they were 3 years old. Silat requires maximum agility and flexibility.
That scissor take down, i wouldnt want to be on the recieving end. If he meant it. Thats your knee cap, gone, a possible broken lower leg ankle thats even before he rolls you over. Although i was expecting him to also reach, grab the head clasping both hands underneath the chin, and pull back or is that to violent?

IMHO, Steve needs to improve his falling technic (silat: jatuhan). The position of the arm falls first, and it can injure his shoulder in a real scenario.

the technique at the end is sweet, I'd love to see what the follow up move is if the opponent steps back out. You don't want to be there kneeling while the opponent counters with a kick to your face. Very interesting overall!

Idk maybe just roll back and run. Silat isn't a show for the cage, we also learn steps to escape from opponents and just run. But i dont know if the master in the vid have some counter to that situation. Silat ground fight isn't that useful for fight cuz after tackle, in many style of silat just use a weak lock or choke or something like that (efficient to average ppl but not to pro ground fighter tbh) or just stab the opponent wich is you will never do obviously. It is true the silat tackle in the vid is have opening like what if the opponent react to that move with a heavy kick while he throw himself to floor like that ? Is also in my mind mate. Also for the mma takedown in the vid isnt that great cuz what if the opponent see what he gonna do and take a long stepback and made him in the ground like offering his head to kicked? In the end, in real fight it needed intuition to read the opponent behaviour to deciding moves, the fighter strength to aplicate the moves and luck maybe

Which silat style is this? A bit different from what i usually seen but the base is the same.
Its more likely sumatera vibe in it. Silek tuo, silat harimau minang those kind of type.

Correct way in 1.03 is grab his leg and attack groin 1.47 after take down kick his head 1.54 after take elbow his chest 2.07 after take down punch his face ah got tired watching this martial art video silat is about improvisation and silat also about violence to take knock out or killing your enemy because in real fight the term one on one never exist so you need to finish your opponent in swift attack to move to other opponent

I am a 3.5yr US Army Infantry, recon scout, “scout” Sniper team, Afghanistan veteran.
I was a part of the units that dropped the MOAB in nangahar valley province.
Over the years I have trained some karate and boxing in my earlier years,
A little krav maga,
Mma, Muy Thai, jiujitsu
Various eastern techniques etc
However I am so rusty as I’ve had injuries and life events that I’ve had to come to get to this point lol
I’ve always been fascinated to learn solar, combat applications of Silat
And despite what other critics or martial artists may say I truly believe the best martial art is the the martial art that masters all martial arts while the martial artist conquers his/her ego and self.
To be selfless, and respectful,
Also down to earth and loving/ caring
A warrior, a protector
One who shows the heart to not quit.

You should Try Silat and Try the spiritual side of it, its powerfull for you country, you can see trough walls or shoot Your enemy with a blind fold on, Or do anything with a blindfold on basicly and the spiritual power side Will basicly makes you 10x Stronger

Silat is fast and tricky martial art in real fight.. Even you're smaller than ur opponent, silat has very various tricky to take down ur opponent..
Guntingan/scissors, punch at armpit, sapuan kick

Silat di pertandingan ga bisa apa", bro. Silat banyak tangkapan kuncian dan penyerangan pada titik" lemah. Silat pada awalnya tujuannya utk melumpuhkan atau membunuh dg efisien, yg fokus pada teknik dan ketepatan.

the mma guy have long hads longgg every par of his bodie so que can become small and big. and he alway take dow you be couse his hand lock richt behind you. the lock grape destroy balance imagine a small hand cant reach any part behind of the leg with any open movement. even silat is very hard if he grab your neck. and fajin push down own graviti center . with kind of rotation effect. grap close medium har range.. destroyn balance.

silat yang kebanyakan kita lihat hanya secuil ilmu yang kebanyakan masih tersembunyi di beberapa orang/perguruan
ada beberapa perguruan yang tidak sembarangan mengajarkan ilmunya, atau kalaupun diajarkan ada beberapa jurus andalan yang hanya diturunkan kepada seseorang yang kelak berhak meneruskan perguruannya.
itulah mengapa silat jaman dulu dan sekarang berbeda, karna beberapa jurus ada yang hilang/dirahasiakan
jika mendengarkan cerita dengan beberapa orang yang sudah tua (yang disaksikan langsung oleh yang bicaranya) pergerakan silat bisa melumpuhkan lawan dalam waktu beberapa detik saja sekalipun dikeroyok (bukan ketika sedang belajar tapi ketika bertemu musuh asli dijalanan)

Gerakan mematikan dari silat bukan untuk dipertontonkan. Gerakan itu hanya dipraktekkan dlm kalangan tertentu buat menjaga rahasianya. Hanya diperuntukkan bela diri, bukan untuk olah raga ataupun ajang kompetisi.
