  • I've been looking for a new tire pressure gauge since my Craftsman & Michelin broke. I found a couple of good replacement for under $20

    This may be my favorite Marion video yet. Great details and I chuckled at the crapper story where you listed “TIM” and not “TMI.” Keep it up sir!

    Thanks for the review Marion. I had a similar problem with the little 12 volt 100psi high volume air compressor I got from Harbor Freight. It's their least expensive, about $30 dollars. The actual pump seems fine but it's the stupid fitting at the end of the yellow 5ft coiled air hose that's absolutely useless. It threads onto the tire valve. By the time I get it threaded on, all the remaining air leaks out and then when you unscrew it, any air you put in comes back out. Very frustrating and I'd never recommend this pump to anyone. I'd return it for full refund but time ran out. So, I cut the threaded fill tip off and installed the standard 1/4" npt Male/barb and quick connect so I can use a regular style tire chuck. I don't mind you expressing yourself with the short stories. It makes your videos not only informative, thorough but interesting. Hope the weather isn't too unbearable over there. I can't wait for some swimming and sailing. God Bless, enjoy 🌞💦🏊‍♂️🏊‍♂️🏊‍♂️

      I know what you mean with the little AC 12 compressors. I run into the same problem. One day I'll spend some serious buck and get a good one.

    You've convinced me Marion - I ordered the AstroAI! The Coleman came with those China Bomb tires and I've read some horrifying stories about blow-outs! I certainly don't want to have a blow out. The first upgrade I want to do when I can justify spending the money is buy some better name brand tires. Thanks again as always!

    My experience with JACO was that they are mostly marketing and rebadged under many other brands ... quality was sorely lacking as was accuracy. Looked purdy ... but returned both.

    Hey Marion, I changed my rear fuel filter and used a large mouth gatorade bottle to drain the filter. First, I cracked the filter lose, then opened the drain, and when it was slowing down just spun the filter lose to get the rest. Put the cap on and not a drop hit the ground

    7:09 - got my answer on some of the guages leading up to the Victor. Like the Astro AI, reads down to 1/10th psi. The Victor seems like it reads to the nearest half-psi(0.5). Might as well get an analog gauge vs a digital that resolves down to just 32.5, 33.0, 33.5, etc..

    Holy moly! Unless the truck is loaded to maximum weight 80psi is grossly overinflated for rear... on my duallies, I run 15 to 18 psi in each rear. If I run any higher, the center of the tread wears due to overinflation. Obviously, the pressure I mentioned is for unloaded only.

    • @tikkin11
      @tikkin11 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 2500 TPMS will activate somewhere around 70 for the rear tires, so you can only go so low on this truck.

    • @walterk1221
      @walterk1221 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tikkin11 that's insane... but, at full load a warning at 70-ish makes sense... unloaded it encourages overinflation and drastically reduced treadlife.
      [EDIT: just ignore the nanny-light and apply common sense regarding inflation versus load; thank goodness duallies are not afflicted with that system... TPIS does show me pressure but is not designed to annoy me]

    Thank you Marion - I will be ordering an AstroAI. I also have a motorcycle and the Astro will not be able to get in there. I need a smaller one, you know one that will fit between the spokes. Any advise?

    • @MarionBlair
      @MarionBlair  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately not. I had the same issue on my motorcycle. I finally put a 90 deg valve on the rim but before that I used an analog gauge with a hose. Pain in the butt.

    Marion, check out the JACO elite pro on Amazon. A little more expensive at $27 but I always carry it when towing and could set my airbags very accurately. Best pressure gauge I have owned.

      I bought two JACo elite pro and both were garbage. AstroAI I have are all pretty good, and I have three models. Most quality analog gauges are also good.

  • @ababababeebababa
    @ababababeebababa 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I bought the AstroAI heavy duty gauge (like your favorite) ... but with the extension (for truck/dually) and its good, in fact probably my favorite from a usability standpoint. The only issue had been if I take 3 readings in a row ... generally the first is most accurate, then the 2nd and 3rd readings almost always are different ... and often less accurate that the first. I suspect the version you have is more accurate because the big truck gauges may release more air from the tire to perform the tests. I'd be curious if you took 3 readings in a row, does the AstroAI stay consistent? My other AstroAI gauge (a handheld) is very consistent and accurate.
