So refreshing to see a family that isn't stuck up about everything about their home being "the best in the world". Big applause for them for having the war veterans stay at their place for free every year. They could be making thousands from weddings during that time, but they chose to give someone back to the community 👏👏👏 it was a pleasure to watch. Beautiful place, taken care of by beautiful people.
What a couple of lovely ladies! I just came across the castle on a show when it was inherited by the family. Sammi had a sparkle in her eyes and this adorable smirk in that show. I can’t help but think she knew what she was ready to become. What a wonderful woman!
The Coryton's have done a beautiful job creating a timeless, yet elegant, look when they renovated the castle. Julie, you would be a great guest yoga teacher for one of the vets/soldiers' week. Love to my fellow British brothers and sisters-in-arms - - from an American soldier. 🇬🇧 🇺🇸
I too am a veteran Suzanne and I had the opportunity to stay at Pentillie. The atmosphere and the welcoming environment is wonderful and it helped give me respite from intrusive thoughts and memories. Everybody was so welcoming and kind, the food was amazing too. Thank you for your service.
@@charlesgabriel1130 Hi Charles, That's so awesome that you were able to experience that. Hopefully you'll get to go again. I know how hard it can be to deal with someone - no one really understands who hasn't been through it. I wish we had something like that here. I've had the opportunity to work with some British soldiers on various occasions while I was in Afghanistan, and also in Washington DC. They're generally pretty awesome at cracking jokes, lol....getting ready to deploy again in a couple of weeks. Thanks for your nice note!
I just love everything UK! The castles and the landscape! Wish I could live there. I am a 1960's child and making the beds with the corners were normal.
Wonderful! I love seeing the 'ladies of the Castle' doing everyday things. Blows away the preconceived perspective of Lady of leisure in the huge house. Laughed out loud watching the leaf blower... Truely great work being done here, for the future and for the Veterans. Thank you Pentillie Castle and family for your service to them.
Loved the kindness shown to these veterans. As a small farm owner in Virginia who has also been deemed 100% disabled from my service, I well know the therapeutic value of nature and a peaceful environment. As I must sell my farm now, I hope to find myself a similar kindness soon. Well done!
One of our happiest memories was at Pentillie 🇬🇧💙 two years ago we stayed ( 10th November) my husband and I , we had the castle to ourselves and supper in the kitchen ( the best Shepherd’s pie) we had to dash over to Plymouth as our granddaughter was born.
My grandmother taught me to do hospital corners when I was around 10 years old in the late 80’s. She taught me many things. I miss her dearly every day❤
That amazing 'kitchen garden' is the stuff of dreams!!! A true sanctuary for our wounded warriors. Such a wonderful place to find peace and solace from the horrors of what they've experienced. A such a setting! Bless you all for what you do!
As soon as she said the dog isn't allowed in the house I knew the family doesn't really live in the castle. I bet they have a modern house nearby where the dog CAN come in. Nice job restoring what remains -- it would be a lovely place to stay for a weekend.
The parents might be still living in the farm, they've been living in over the last 40+ years. Pentillie Castle in 2008 on Country House Rescue: th-cam.com/video/olTN1FYQ7Hc/w-d-xo.html
Gorgeous---look at that view! I could look at that all day. The leaf blower looks fun. Love, love, love the kitchen garden and wonderful for the veterans. 🌹🌹🌹
Such a lovely place🏰 I love a story of something old being restored and reused👩🌾. I especially loved the Veteran Memorial created in the plaster on the wall, so heartfelt and sentimental🤍 Thanks so much for sharing these beautiful places with us. Until the next great video, take care from the USA.
I so enjoyed this video. Laughed out loud at the leaf blowing 🤦♀️😂😂 Julie is such a good sport. I so love the writing in the wall for the veterans, love it❣️❣️ That large walled garden looks lovely, a lot of hard work has been done. Wish i could have seen videos from the beginning. It is a shame the trees get in the way of the view to the river.
It’s amazing how everyone is working so hard to save these amazing homes. This was a wonderful video. I worked in a hospital many moons ago. We had to do tight hospital corners. A fold in a sheet could cause bed sores
Just seeing this and what a wonderful suprise! Absolutely loved it all! Doing the hospital corner beds 🛌, brings back some boot camp memories, lol. Served in Iraq and really appreciate this space here, and the garden, so much. Julie you did a spectacular job and so glad you enjoyed it all! What a beautiful historical spot in England. Thanks for bringing us along on this wonderful adventure! 🌺🌿🧡
It’s beautiful! Gone are the days when there were staff +++ to do the everyday chores. The Chatelaine over saw the work, but now it’s all up to these amazingly talented women. I’m so impressed.
So veddy British to be cleaning up one's yard in such a smart outfit...and with JEWELRY! This was both hilarious and very very touching. Beautiful estate!
What a beautiful castle 🏰. And love the gardens and their purpose ❤. Many in my family have served for generations. And my only son is currently still in the Marines. So can definitely relate.
For an American girl from a small town how is it possible you don’t know how to hang clothes on a line, make a bed , set a table , do the most basic of domestic chores. Your like Mork , from Mork and Mindy . Are you sure your not from outer space? I love you Julie , your just so extra special. This is a beautiful home in a wonderful location. Thanks for sharing with us.
Just wonderful Julie I missed the live but oh what fun that gadget on your back laughing while watching you all trying to get it going😀The castle is fabulous my mother won a bed making competition while at boarding school and I still do the sheets like that lovely memories🥰So enjoyable the castle tour and chat you make me smile Thankyou Julie😘😘😍❤️👌
I love how they help military veterans and give back to their community. I'm not good with fitting tight sheets on beds either! I couldn't imagine having to keep up with such a large estate. Really appreciate the history and how the estate is being supported!
I almost panicked when viewing your video where you purchased the same house in Tuscany, I assumed you moved out of this gorgeous home. You bring to this American girl the fantasy of living such a grand life, and trust me, I know there’s a lot of work, but you are handling beautifully. Thank you! For sharing bits of your life.
Great episode Julie. I loved watching you handle the leaf blower. Really enjoyed Pentillie castle. Lovely wedding venue. I can see Mapperton on the same level.

Add a bit luxury to the beds. Add two extra full size pillows (not the small) with darker colour covers behind the normal and a attractieve grand foulard at the feet end. 🤗 Also huge paintings or a big eyecatcher at the beds head end will give a more comfortabele feeling.
