My Dad died aged 88 and was still using his computer to the day before he died, when he sent me an email saying he wasn't well and going to the hospital. That night I got a call saying he had hours to live, when I walked in the room I thought they were crazy as my Dad looked normal. We had normal conversation, listened to music, he sang to me, then 6 hours later he just turned to me and stopped. He was incredibly with it right to that last moment. He used to make powerpoints for my childrens birthdays, fixed all my computer problems (he self taught), and people in his block of units would come to him to fix their computers too. My Mum is 82 in aged care with dementia and doesn't even remember our visits. So it isn't age that matters, it is competence.

I don’t think age is directly correlated with performance, it’s not a one size fits all. You can have someone who young (CEO of Chilli) who’s just as capable. What really matters is experience, mental clarity, and simply can this person not only preform the task at hand but go above and beyond.

My partner is 82, he is an engineering inspector. Leaves for work every day at 4.30am 5 days a week and puts in full days. My Dad died aged 88 and was still using his computer to the day before he died, when he sent me an email saying he wasn't well and going to the hospital. He used to make powerpoints for my childrens birthdays, fixed all my computer problems (he self taught), and people in his block of units would come to him to fix their computers too. My Mum is 82 in aged care with dementia and doesn't even remember our visits. So it isn't age that matters, it is competence.

My partner is 82, he is an engineering inspector. Leaves for work every day at 4.30am 5 days a week and puts in full days. On Saturdays, he goes in to work early, pops over to take me for breakfast then goes back to work for half a day.
