Does using x11(on samsung) instead of wayland have something to do with the lag felt on the pinephone(wayland) or does it have to be more with better samsung gpu performance?
How did you get this installed? I have pmOS installed on a G4 Play, that I need to wipe and install from scratch. I don't want to install the phosh version, I'd really like to test-drive this gnome shell... Thanks!
@@AP-kx4yw Freedom is truly enjoyable. Why can't the movement behind free software push for android to ship with root access available, not turned on but available. The easiest phones to root are ironically Google pixels.
@@bonniemunene5163 Even if Android would be shipped rooted Google still would have complete control over it. Android is locked down. Not like iOS but it's locked down and many people who are doing "FOSS work" want to have complete control over their operation system and Android isn't able to give them this control.
@@AP-kx4yw Root access is very necessary. The reason for locking down an open source project is to sell their services. This comes as playstore and other google apps. Root access will allow users to make appstores like fdroid the default. Remove preinstalled OEM crap and replace it foss alternatives instead. It would also allow for replacing the stock ROM with more privacy focused and foss OSes like graphene OS.

what scaling factor do you use? 300 is too big for me but recommend from the website, 200 is weird inbetween, 100 is too small

Have you had the chance to play with the Maui Shell’s alphas? How does it work out vis-à-vis the popular gtk and plasma envs?
I have not tried the Maui stuff yet no, I should try it soon :)

Would be a worth competitor to the already GNOME-using Phosh, if optimised.
Some things gnome does really well already it seems :) it feels like a lot of issues can be solved by tweaking gnome shell?
The remaining issues is something that would be fixed by the Gnome Mobile stuff the Gnome team is working on
