you are GLOWING. something is making you appear so effortlessly radiant! i’m excited for this video & i hope the remainder of your year is filled with love, warmth, and new adventures ❤ love from NYC ps: from one black woman to another? I LOVE THE NATURAL HAIR SIS
Omg thank you SO MUCH!! ☺️💖 I have to let you in on a little secret, I think the sunscreen is making me look super glowy, but I’ll take it ✨ thank you!!! Also, another secret, the ponytail is a from Ruka Hair 👉🏾 rukahair.com/products/think-kink-ponytail-lc It’s literally the most natural ponytail I’ve ever had in my life and everyone always thinks it’s my natural hair!!! Thank you so much for the love, especially from NYC! 💖
You are SO right for giving away those self help books and you should not feel guilty about it AT ALL. It is so kind of you to say they are thoughtful gifts and I believe 100% they come from a good place and good intentions, but at the same time I think they represent so much misunderstanding (I mean you not even being able to read at the time 🥲). Of course things like mindfulness, meditation and self help books may be helpful, but I think that's true for anybody. I feel like being chronically ill people expect you to try everything, even if it costs you a lot of your precious energy. To me it sometimes feels as if people judge you for not wanting to get better because you haven't listened to their specific well intentioned but very unsollicited advise. It feels so undermining of your serious condition that won't be magically fixed by just breathing slowly or living a very yoga influencer lifestyle. Honestly, fiction books have given me so much pleasure and meaning in life and I believe no self help book could have ever given me that. Do hang on to books you're personally interested in and read all the self help that inspires you, but girl, please don't feel obligated! It is not your responsiblity to care for yourself or seek treatment in the way others expect. ❤
Your skin is glowing! I love a good unhaul. I just finished moving and have taken so many books. As much as I love getting books, there's something so satisfying to me about decluttering my space.
Hello and thank you for sharing. Yes I agree with others that your skin looks beautiful. Here is a recommended series I just finished and enjoyed by Sunny Hostin. Although they are all “summer” labeled, the books are so much more and have an amazing thread. She’s an Emmy award winning journalist, lawyer and television co-host. I came across one of her books from a TH-cam review and had to read book one and quickly downloaded book two and bought the newly released book three. Enjoying your channel. Have a great day!! Book 1 - Summer on the Bluff Book 2 - Summer on Sag Harbor Book 3 - Sunmer on Highland Beach
It’s great to see you back making content. And I agree with all the comments about you and your gorgeous skin! You are glowing and look super healthy. After all that you’ve been through, you completely deserve to look and feel good. I have been sentimental about the first proofs as well. Even if I have a finished copy, there is something about the first proofs. 😊
Aww thank you so much! ☺️ I think it’s the sunscreen I’ve been using, it makes my skin super glowy ✨ but I have been feeling better lately, so maybe that’s it? 🤷🏾♀️😂 Yeah exactly, you’ll never get another proof of that book again, so I think it’s lovely to hold on to it.
If you like to read about body image or like the nuances surrounding it, you might like the novel Skin & Bones by Renee Watson. I’m reading it now and really enjoying it.
i'm one of the people who subscribed since your last video and i actually didn't even notice that you had a gap, so i'm happy you're back uploading now! seems like we have really similar taste, excited to watch more of your videos :)
I feel the same way about self help and magical realism. Also i feel like theres a trend of books trying to be "cosy" recently and thats all they have to offer. That dream store book looks to be a bit like that. Have you read Mr Loverman by Bernadine Evaristo?
I'm interested to know your thoughts on Mr Loverman @samspam1788 ! Is it one of your favourites? I've been eying it since reading Girl, woman , other but haven't really heard anyone talking about it as far as I can remember! Also agree on self help and (cosy) magical realism btw lol.
I haven't read "Queenie" yet, but I quite enjoyed "People Person". Following their cray story and seeing those 5 become a family was fun and emotional to me. Laughed quite a lot from some of the scenes. Bummer that you didn't like it 😞.
😂😂 oh nooo! I hope I haven’t put you off 🙈 I would say definitely try it, as you might enjoy it. I just didn’t enjoy the plot unfortunately. I still love Candice Carty-Williams though
Not sure how I missed this video!! I remember you really not liking some of these in vlogs. I didn't dislike People Person, but for me it was nowhere near as good as Queenie.
I need to re-read it ends with us to see if I actually like it. I read it when it first came out and remember loving it but I want to see what I think now
I’m exactly the same as you! When I first read it I really did enjoy it, but upon reflection, I didn’t think it was a great book 🙈 I think it’s one to get you out of a slump though as it’s a very quick and easy read ☺️
Awwww thanks so much!!! 💖 I’ve been loving your videos btw, so glad you joined booktube. You’ve also made me want to explore Agatha Christie as I’ve never read any of her books. 🙈
@@NickellesNook Thanks girly 🥰. You were definitely one of the people that inspired me to start, and I'm so happy I did! Agatha has soooo many books you can start just about anywhere. Excited to hear your thoughts when you do get around to her. 🫶🏾
It's good to have you back! I have to agree with People Person, I'd give it away too. The story wasn't engaging and there were some glaring errors in it too. It was definitely a disappointing read.
Thank you!!! Yeah it really wasn’t great at all. The plot was terrible imo 🙈 Yes I gave it to my friend, she asked if I enjoyed it and I replied “there’s a reason why I’m unhauling these books”😅😂

It's so good to see you again! I totally get why you want to hold onto your first proofs, if it was me, I would too! 😊
Can I just say you have the most radiant and flawless skin and a winning smile that lights up the darkness to boot! 😃
Omg thank you 🙈❤️ you’re way too kind!

Ah, there is something so cathartic about a good declutter/unhaul ^^ Good job! 12 books is a very decent amount!

It's great to have you back 💜I have read the Dallergut dpt store and agree with you : I wanted to like it but it fell flat.
Thank you!!
Yeah! It was super disappointing right?! 🙈
Love a good unhaul video 🤭 Hope you have been doing well 🫶
