Oh Nickelle you're not pathetic about chronic illness! You're wonderful and the trip to Bath looked lovely. I also deal with chronic illness, often simple things are achievements, so when you were describing your experience I thought - oh girl, I feel you. All the best to you, can't wait for the new video

Please don't ever apologise or feel like you need to justify yourself to us, this is your channel to create and post what feels good for you and you only 💜
I honestly didn't think twice about the fact that going to a bookshop and coffee shop wasn't a lot to most people - I plan mini breaks all the time solely around cute bookshops 😂
I don't have experience with a chronic illness but I think maybe because it's your body and health, you've had to become acutely aware of how it affects your life but if you zoom out to our perspective I promise you'll find us just happy that you chose to take us along with you 🫶

If there's one thing about life with chronic illness, it's that it gives you a whole new level of appreciation for all the things we once took for granted! Enjoyed watching this and so glad you managed to enjoy your trip :) xx

Glad that you're sharing your experience of having a chronic illness. Great explanation of long covid and the importance of pacing. I find people don't get how doing something simple that they take for granted has to be planned out carefully to avoid crashing.
PEM is something I struggle with a lot.

Hello! I wanted to tell you that I really enjoy your videos! Thank you for telling us about the reality of living with long covid. I think it's something so new that not that many of us know about.
And just in case, I thought your mini weekend trip sounded amazing. Didn't sound basic or "too normal" at all. It sounded ideal 😁 Thank you for showing us!
    Sending let's of love!

I've been chronically ill for 10 years, so I well understand how you feel. I also feel like I need to explain myself to everyone, but I know that's not true. You know what you can do at any given moment, and that has nothing to do with anyone else, ever. Thank you for talking about it publically, though, because we all need to be seen and accepted. 💚 The Virgin Suicides is amazing, and Michaelides' next book, Middlesex -- which won a pulitzer -- is even better! I hope you love VS.

I have to pace myself as well so those few days in Bath sound 'action packed' to me! 😊 So glad you had a great time and I too have spent money on books but I just couldn't help myself lol!! 😄 One of the books was Cleopatra And Frankenstein ( I think their names are in the right order?) so I'm excited to read that at some point! 😊

Talking bout your long covid experience described exactly how I am with fibromyalgia, healthy able bodied people do not understand - a weekend away (no matter how much fun would almost wipe me out too) we definitely do have to pace ourselves even with reading, watching tv, things that others take for granted - am really glad though that you were able to enjoy the weekend - I’d love to visit Bath too, when I am well enough - not been there in a long time - since I was able to go to gigs til 2am and drink alcohol….the dim and distant past aka at least 10 years ago

I really appreciate you sharing bits of your health journey. I think this is invaluable because so many people have no idea what being chronically ill/disabled is like on the day to day! I developed POTs at 25 (I am now 32) and the amount of educating other people that is involved feels never ending. The POTs also came with chronic fatigue so I feel you about the pacing element 🙂Thanks again for sharing!

This video came up randomly on my feed because I'm a big reader, and I really enjoyed it, but also wanted to say - I get the chronic illness. I've had ME for 6 years now and it's very similar. I struggle to go out much to busy areas/cities and need a lot of recovery time when I do. I've made great progress from being bed bound for the first few months to being able to do things occasionally now as long as I pace myself and have recovery time, so I totally get what you're talking about - and it's helpful to know I'm not the only one!

You don't have to apologize for chronic illness. I understand why you felt like you had to explain it better than most.
I have spastic cerebral palsy, a neurological disorder that affects muscle movement. I'm typically independent with all tasks. However, the last few years, I've had to address some orthopedic things that got to a chronic pain level. Most of my treatments have required surgery, downtime, and a looong recovery period to relearn how to do simple movements like walking. These medical things I've had to address the last four years. Part of that time I had to balance while finishing college and working.
I'm finally addressing the last medical thing, and thankfully it should be the shortest recovery. Reading books and watching TV shows/films continue to be my go-to recovery activities.
I enjoy all the times I get to go out, but I have to pace myself until I can build up endurance again. I typically enjoy simple outings anyway whether it's just a walk in a nice nature trail, the movies, attending a local event, or just going to the grocery store.
I'm continuing to learn how to balance activity to rest levels. :) Keep up the great work and celebrate any progress you make with what you're able to do again.

I obviously don't know you but I just want to say that from an external perspective it sounds like you're used to having to justify yourself for your chronic illness, which is something you're not responsible for at all! I feel the same for similar reasons about myself. Manifesting more confidence for all of us chronic girlies in 2024, we deserve it.

2:12 What I don't understand is why we are acting like Long COVID is this new unknown thing. ME, chronic fatigue syndrome, and postural tachycardia syndrome are all linked to viruses (in that they tend to develop after a virus). So, we should be aware by now that a virus (even if technically non-serious) can have lasting effects. So, we should understand Long COVID better than we do because of ME and PoTs etc. Anyway, I am sorry that you are living with this. Just know you're not alone

Good question!! My husband tends to read more historical and non fiction, he is slowly getting into lit fic though. No-one else in my family really reads tbh 🙈
Yeah same, I love recommending books, but I didn’t have many people IRL to do that. So I made a TH-cam channel 😂

If you loved the first book you shared you'll probably love The sex lives of African women, it's written by Nana Dakoa where she seats women of African decent. You can always utilities your local library, I'm on a book ban too and I just discovered a book I wouldn't buy which is my current read.

Adding straight to my TBR! Thanks for the recommendation
And I know, I really need to get a library card, it would save me so much money. However, I do like that I have built up a small collection of books now though. ☺️

What you're describing is not "long covid" It sounds as though you have chronic fatigue syndrome, and that you dealt with
EBV (Epstein-Barr virus) early on. COVID could set both of these illnesses off, you really should figure out what's truly going on sooner rather than later. You said that you're now 30, or soon to be 30, so you're heading to perimenopause (black women Go through perimenopause significantly sooner than other races, typically in early to mid 30s) and you don't want to be still going through what you're going through now once your hormones starts to act up. In fact have you had your hormones checked?
