Dang they just banned twin! It's really too bad we won't get to see anymore amazing games such as this!

I personally would have shave 1 deciever and 1 splinter twin off the combo and boarded in the 2 batterskulls. Jelger has really good draws game 2, i.e 2x anger of the gods, 2-3 blood moons etc. I would have shaved some of the twin to hedge against potential draws of 3 splinter twins or 3 exarchs

Although Jelger lost the 2nd game, this anger of the gods ott.... damn! xD

I see so much hate for Twin everywhere but combo is one of the easier archetypes to side against. Eidolon of Rhetoric to stop multiple spells a turn. Spirit of the Labyrinth for anti-card draw. Both are in white which surprises me that no deck at PTFRF decided on running even one-of's

You do realize that neither of those cards do anything against Twin right?

ozfan6 You're right. There is so much hate for twin in the boards, it's insane. Because of all this hate, people will play less Splinter Twin decks, and other decks will be played more. Then everyone is stuck with these random do-nothing sideboard cards in their decks, while losing to a deck they did not metagame against. Then, the Twin-hate goes out of the sideboards, which allows room for the twin decks to re-emerge. This is called the metagame ebb/flow.
Besides, it's not like splinter twin can't beat a counter spell

It seems like maybe Jacob Wilson should have tried for Qasali Pridemage? I suppose he didn't know about the twin combo, but still. Tapping out after twin has 3 mana open is pretty dumb.

Jake Golle He had no other choice since his deck is vulnerable to the combo.

Do you not play the Pridemage in G1? Adds 1 point to the clock the same turn, + 4 per turn. You're losing on 2 whole points of damage over siege rhino, but you're not dead and you can bluff the path/if he lets the pridemage resolve, he needs to get rid of it before playing the combo.

Wolfgang Baumgartner Modern is a turn 3 format and you're complaining about a mostly fair deck that has a combo kill thrown in which can easily be prevented. You must be fun at parties.

This is what magic used to be. So much dynamic, not only mono red, awesome art, not a kids game. And a game where you could really react to what is going on. Now it is just aggro or teferi. It's disgusting , where is the freedome, where is the mechanics and diversity, where are the board stats where you have to think.
You can tell the spirit was completely different also throughout the entire job of the commentators.
