“I don’t want to live like this” is what really came to my mind when I realized how much time I’ve spilled just on my screen, just because it’s not nothing.
hey, i just want to give a very personalized thank you for the video about brainrot. you seriously saved my teenage years. i wouldve been stuck to a screen for the next 5+ years if it wasnt for that video. for lack of better word, you saved me. i am of upmost gratuity to you.
I totally agree with what you’re saying about short form content being a huge waste of time, no matter the content of the video. I refuse to use it but everyone around me is glued to it constantly and it’s depressing. I feel so alone.
@@pauliusiv6169 i think that putting a daily limit on reels or tiktoks would be a good idea, maybe you could only watch 100-200 a day, i think that would help a little, or at least a step in the right direction.
11:58 this is very true, just because you finally get over the first "I can't do this shit because x/y" doesn't mean that randomly, after being productive for so long, that feeling won't just come back with a vengeance, coupled with all the excuses and reasoning for why you should just go back and scroll/play the same game for the 1,000th hour instead of committing to a fulfilling hobby. wish i was told this earlier, but it's nice to hear someone else have this problem.
Bro its like you went into my brain and into my inner dialog to make this video. Most everything you've said ive also said to myself at some point. Idk to what about that.....but its comforting because its relatable.
Thank you man, the struggle with this problem gets out of hand time to time so this might be helpful for lot of us❤❤❤❤ -Your last video about this was really helpful 4 me, appreciate it!
This is so true about the whole "once you're productive, you still have to be careful about that thought in the back of your head." I was finally feeling good about the work and progress I was getting when I become overwhelmed and got sick. I was passionate and now I struggle to even look at my work despite the fact that it severely needs to get done. I'm getting really bad adhd paralysis and just need to work, but I'm struggling. I finally just decided to drink an energy drink while watching your video, decided to journal out my feelings after I'm done to just get them out, and then finally get back to work. Thank you so much
The strange thing that a lot of people subconsciously expect (me included) about detoxing on phone time and social media is that it will be this “comfortably difficult” thing which makes no sense. It’s *NOT* easy. It’s uncomfortable, it’s hard, and it sucks. You can’t treat challenge and adversity as this predictable, epic, cinematic thing that you’ll just overcome simply because it would feel nice, look cool, and be convenient. This is exactly the mindset that stops people from crossing the threshold into doing those things that they fantasize about. This is because, subconsciously, they know the road isn’t going to be that paved and predictable. Failure is real and you’re not just gonna skirt it because some Dude-Bro on the internet gave you _“10 secrets you NEED to become a WEALTHY AND ATTRACTIVE MAN!”_ Challenge is *NOT* cinematic. We need to stop romanticizing difficulty. *You can do hard things.* Don’t try to make it any more than that.
Nice vid and makes me think back to when i was struggling extremely hard to stop after getting really bad anxiety because i was so terrified of the mind that it does these things to us and actually found it very hard to live where i didnt want to eat food whatsoever my body would never stop shaking and time passed slower than ever. Then i discovered meditative practices and discovered some interesting things happening to me. For example i would walk through the confectionery and crisp section (british btw) and have no want to buy it and instead prefer healthier food. Anxiety would start to improve after feeling worse for a short while and then relief afterwards. I also started to remember smells and content emotions that you had when you're very young and find simpler games very enjoyable. And in this vid i totally agree that even if you feel terrible still try to do the common sense thing to do because i knew that nothing else would actually help me get better. But i do think that now i have greater knowledge of my mind i do think this is a matter of understanding the mind rather than using fear as motivation like were gonna die, which is true of course, but then thinking this for every single day when your not actually dying is also bad for us.
Why though? It's basically the same thing, especially if the long form content you consume is dynamic/highly stimulating. the solution is the same: JUST STOP consuming it, or try to consume only what you know you're going to apply in life and focus more on creating
Malik if you're seeing this. Just know that you've changed my life forever. Started watching from the brainrot video, to the young people don't wanna work video, to every single video in your channel. I was so lost in life and your channel was the main factor that helped me find my own purpose. Now I live working towards something great, having fun in the process, and inching closer towards freedom everyday. I'm genuinely so grateful to you. I love your videos man, never stop making them.
def sending this to my friend (from my phone, what a failure ikr) that aside, having a hobby n people pushing u to keep going really helped me to get off of my phone (woodcarving and some small carpentry work ). edit : its wild how people wanna get off but just feels unable to, but they will only tell you that once you force them to think about it (me included ofc)... kinda sad
Doing hard things is rewarding. Learning a new skill that you can use in real life is rewarding. Creating something in the physical world is rewarding. Its tangible. Everything is all digital now. We need tangible things
I completely agree with the short form content I personally don't consume any shortform content because I don't see the interest in scrolling video after video waiting for a good one
Listen, I’m an early adult, and my brother is gen alpha and literally addicted to screens. When I go off to study I know my parents won’t try to fix it bc both have businesses to attend to and just don’t care ever since we immigrated. Does the creator or anyone else know how to fix addiction in kids?
I don’t know too much about kids but I would imagine it would have to be not allowing screens after a certain time in the evening, then offering him other interests once he expresses he is bored. He will probably be very opposed and reject the alternative hobbies at first so expect pushback and I’m glad you’re looking out for him🙏🙏
Ken Jeong as The "Ham Giiiiiiiiiiiiiirl" guy in Community said it best : "What is my motivation?"! if you don't have your motivation you will err in this existence.
hmm. that's tough. There's no 100% right answer but here's what works for me I sit down, think about death, and that's going to happen. And the final thoughts i have on my death bed is the guide i want to live my life. So whatever i want to see during my final few seconds of life flash before my eyes, that's what i follow so idk if this is too much, but ask yourself, at the end of your life, what do you want your life to mean and look like? Whatever you think will bring nothing but smile to your face, go that way
Gotta learn to mindfully recognize the useless "addiction noise" and not let it control you. It won't feel good, which is what makes it so hard to kick the habit.
13:25 that scene is too short it would be better if you gave us more time to read it because i had to go back and pause the video which was a little bit annoying (idk if the purpose is to go back and pause) but anyways the video was great overall :)
This video might open peoples eyes, but it does nothing to help them. Its more of a motivational speech. Sure, if you have and addiction, youtube is the last place you should check for help. Phones are as addictive as drugs and you cannot say to a drug addict to just put the needle down. There has to be a valid reason to stop using the drug and sometimes death is not enough of a reason to stop using the drug. This comes from my brother who spent almost 10 years as a drug addict. Just stopping using your phone doesn't work at all. A plan will be more effective in helping your addiction. If you think you are just going to overpower your addiction, you have to consider why couldn't you stop being addicted in the first place. I think you need to do better research and maybe offer people a better plan.
I mean, yea, when we’re gonna get old, we gonna be sitting on our phones like now boomers sit in front of TV’s telling kids to get off the neuralink implants in their brains lol

Imagine sitting on your death bed and all you can think is: “The best moment of my life was a reposted Reddit meme from 2018.”
“I don’t want to live like this” is what really came to my mind when I realized how much time I’ve spilled just on my screen, just because it’s not nothing.
Divine timing
I try

We need to ban the infinite scroll feature
We all saw the ill-fated "that's all for now. There's nothing new on your feed" for the last time.
that's just putting a bandaid on a broken bone, it's not gonna do anything
@@pauliusiv6169 i think that putting a daily limit on reels or tiktoks would be a good idea, maybe you could only watch 100-200 a day, i think that would help a little, or at least a step in the right direction.
True. Regulations need to put a brake on the internet.
Needs a limit of like 30 videos

I’m so glad I found your channel! you’re always so helpful with helping me do some introspection. Thank you!
Thank you :)
we’re really the last generation to know what it’s been like without phones and all that and what it really meant to be genuinely happy…
I find it funny how he keeps saying this video is all over the face but I watch it and it’s actually coherent

Will you make a video on the topic of long term content abuse? Like brain rot but from long form content?

the quitting trap is the addicts worst nightmare.
you know you have to quit, but you cannot. your brain wont allow it.
Gonna practice guitar after watching this
