congratulations on your sobriety! Man I know more and more people getting off alcohol… I have a Turbo Spider but turbo is missing. I’m going to keep up with your build thanks…..
The Corvair input shaft and gears will handle up to 300 horse [I have a v8 Corvair so I know]. You may want to rebuild your differential with a 4 spider, it will make it stronger. Kudos on your sobriety. Keep going dude, you will love your car when its done.
I’m hoping the transmission input shaft will handle the extra horsepower and torque Looks like a lot of fun with this build. Hope you can Dyno it to help with the tuning Congrats on your being sober keep it going Waiting for your next video thanks for the update
Building a hot rod Corvair's one thing - your sobriety is the real story of victory! Love the car and can't wait for how Little Red progresses. I'm looking forward to learning all the mods you're doing. Did you find a guide of mods that was your starting point? Thanks for sharing. John
At 5:10 -- The single carb head was not placed in the center, since that would have starved the two outer cylinders for fuel. It was offset to the left in the same position as the left attachment in the head you're demonstrating on, and the firing order of the cylinders was such that the momentum of the intake charge moved in only one direction, left to right. When Chevy was determining how they were going to further develop the engine that became the 140hp, they examined the option of just opening up the one carb pedestal to [iirc] a 1 5/8" bore from the 1& 1/2" that had been standard for the 80, 90 & 110 horse motors, but decided to go w/ the dual pedestal approach because it would leave more "headroom" for future [sadly, unrealized due to the cancellation of the entire model line caused by declining sales] improvements.
I went ahead & subscribed to your channel ! No. 54 probably the year You born lol ! Congratulations on your being sober ! The same can be said about smoking ! & the cost of it believe me I know , & you do save allot money by quitting ! I really like this video how You explained , & showed what your doing on the on the build ! I remember when you could get TRW forged pistons . That's how long it's been since I did a Corvair engine build , & it looks like it's going to be one hell of a build , & it's all top shelf ! What is the bore of the pistons ? Looks like you'll have about 240 HP + or - , I did get a laugh out of the lighting rod question ! It should have been are you going to lighten the rods . Thanks for the follow up on your engine build , & video .
Nice build. Could get more power and less expensive with a turbo, but to each his own. I've had Corvairs for over 50 years and built a number of motors but parts now are so expensive compared to most any other engine that I just do cheapo rebuilds and spend my money on other projects where I get more bang for my buck.
My question is for slot of us money can be a real issue.I see you've already spent a good amount wouldn't it give you a bigger bang for your buck just to v-8 swap it? The custom pars and custom machine work has too add up.And you could get much more power from aLS or afb. Small blk. Without so much custom work?that
Interesting vid, congrats on your sobriety.
Congrats on 4 years!

I did that along with treating the ring and pinion and the four forward gears for strength
Fantastic project and congrats on beating the bottle!

Good for you on your sobriety

No I just wanted trips and ended up doing this sobriety rules

what size are you wheels and tires, 13" isn't gonna do it for me. thanks mike
Did you fabricate the intake manifold? I want something similar, might go fuel injection on my ‘66 110. Picked up a set of 140 heads for the project.
Thx buddy are you planning on reinstalling the turbo or going n/a
Yes I had my input shaft hardened along with the four forward gears and the ring and pinion making it about as stout as possible

Is the 140 head higher in compression than the 110 head? Bigger valves?
Car looks amazing! What size rims and tires are you running?
More air + velocity + swirl.
The limitation of the corvair motor is being air cooled, there is only so much heat it can shed.
