    Nice!
Would like to see a clip if just the Royer while being rotated to hear the various colors of degrees on and off axis close into the cabinet.
(Would the natural compression of the figure of 8 change much along with the tonal balance?)
The two mics certainly give many mixing choices.

I have both microphones and love the Royer. However I would love to know where you got that dual mic clip to hold both mics on a stand. Please tell me where to get some. Great show.

Also, I'm still looking for some all-ribbon sessions so there isn't competition with overly bright and colored condensers etc.
    Any leads?

I think it is Divided by 13 Rca model. But I am not affiliated with royer labs so don't quote me on that one.

Question pls. anybody out there…do you run these 2 mics into one recording channel or 2 seperate recording channels, that would eventually take up a lot of recording channels, when laying down multiable guitar tracks?? pls. elaborate on this-thanks

You can do it either way, but most engineers commit to a blend while they're recording and record both mics to one track.

Hey, amazing video. I have a question. I'm thinking to buy Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio int. sound card. I have w8.1 really good specs laptop. I will be using gibson lespaul 490 498 pickups, recording with shure sm57. I heard there will be always annoying clipping and latency issues with focusrite scarlett series. is that true? Even if I use microphone from amp and select line on audio card? Also I have 1 more question may be dumb but do I need di box if I'm recording my guitar with (Guitar+amp+mic+sound card+laptop) ? I heard you only need di box if you want to connect your guitar directly to sound card without amp model or direct to mix, laptop etc. but I'm not sure its good to use on miking amp too. Sorry for my bad english. Thanks. Have a good day!

With just a 57 is it best to mic the top or bottom speakers in an angled 4x12?

We've seen 57s used more on the bottom speakers, but most engineers look for the best sounding speaker in the cab and mic it, whether it's on the top or bottom.

Bringing the mic closer to the floor even when close miking can make a difference. Finding the best speaker as a starting point is definitely the way to go though. But also do be aware that there are a ton of things that can change because of the room and the shape of the cabinet too. A Marshall bottom cab has a different sound than an angled top cab. Just the shorter distance created from the back of the speaker cone to the back of the cabinet makes things sound very different, then the angle itself changes the sound even further.
The same thing goes for the room(s) you record in. Especially if (and I highly suggest trying this for certain applications) if you blend in a room mic. I wouldn't use a room mic for say a tight metal rhythm part, but for some wide and wet chord parts or a soaring lead, sometimes it adds a sound character you can't achieve any other way. Just give the room mic it's own track, in case it doesn't work so well in the final mix.
