I love the fact that the throttle went back to their roots. I vote to rebuild that engine. Will make for one hell of a video and would be quite educational for us as subscribers

I don’t understand, This is the awesome beginnings of throttl. These builds to me are better transformation than seeing an already nice car being transformed. We need more junkers like this back in the shop. As for the engine swap, I think rb26 would be a better bet! Hope you guys do a video on that 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner! Love those trucks that I ended up with one.😀

You would literally have to build a whole new car. The cost would be astronomical, and in the end all you have a 300z .

EZ30 swap would be different.
I would say either rebuild the twin turbo motor or do an rb26 swap. As for body kits definitely look into twin z, they have a really nice body kit and a beautiful wide body for it as well. I have a project 300zx I’m working on so I’m excited to see this build and what you guys do with it.
Love the channel but going back to a complete build from the bottom up is the content I believe most want to see. Love to see what y’all do with this big project

I fifth this. These can be insane engines got mine to 600hp stock engine rebuild, just better top feed injectors (98 fuel - Australia) and gtx2860rs turbos. I’ve made mine the easiest to work on too. Stock engine if taken care of normally can support 500 crank hp for ages and this is stock not upgraded internally in anyway. Imagine e85 with this as well.
I mean beast of a car, still holds that land speed record. Try get the blob supra to do that 😂.

I'm so stoked to see this build. The newer cars are cool. But rescuing a junker and bringing it back to life is amazing. Too many car shows/channels just stop doing it when they get big. You guys are awesome and clearly love the car scene. Not just making money. Don't lose those roots boys 🤘
working on Z32 VG30DETT engine is an absolute NIGHTMARE. Built one back in early 2000's and it was a learning experience to say the least. RB26 swap all day long in this.
Swap a VK into it and make it Cyberpunk 2077 esque. Make it this brash yet refined beast. A wolf in sheep's clothing.

Been in the 300zx family since 2002. Currently have one, and would LOVE this one to be a Stillen SMZ replica. Then take pics with the other JDMs!
A built VG with updated engine parts would be the way to go! This will prove what you guys can really do. Don’t cut corners and go the easy way on this build!
I would vote for an engine rebuild! I feel like I have seen a lot of engine swaps recently so that would be a bit different. Either way I love myself a crazy throtl transformation.
I'm all for it.. and build it to hold some moderate boost! This car is the challenge we want to see 🤙🏿

You guys absolutely do a fantastic job on all your builds. I am so pumped that you have gone with the $300zx! This car has always been an eye catcher. I absolutely love the throw back aesthetics of this car. A close factory build paired with the all out power of a V8 swap would make this car a nice sleeper. Love what you guys do. 👍

Go for the VG30DETT. If you guys plan on throwing out the spare motor then probably get a good condition one. Would love to see what the potential of the VG30DETT would be, especially a Throtl spec VG30DETT
THEY HAVE THE BUDGET =/MECH FOR, AVG GUY SHOULD GO RB5. MORE SPACE LESS GASKETS, CAMS, SENSOR ETC.
Build the VG30, show us a clean OEM+ restoration. Also, so many great parts from the likes of Polar Engineering and Merlin Machining 👌

I own two 300zx both VG30DETT 5 spd one is a 2+2 tt conversion. So, I would absolutely love to see you guys build the VG. They honestly don't get enough love in the car scene. They are so capable and sound amazing. No one has any good build content on the VG really.

I'd love to see a vg30 rebuild with a single turbo and a more track inspired build. Body kits on the z32s can get out of hand quick, maybe swap to the turbo bumper and some aero bits. Super excited to see this one, I've wanted a z31 for a long time but the z32s are super cool!
I personally love these restorations from broke down nasty trash to an immaculate piece of machinery. I woke be missing and episode of this series. 💯👍🏽
As a previous 300zx owner, I am stoked to see this build! Z1motorsports has everything you’ll need to build this car.
p.s. im 5 years deep on my personal z32, full engine bay shave, rear quarter panel chopped and swapped (old quarter had been hit twice in past and previous owner just filled dents with body filler. no bueno) also NA to TT swap and every single suspension bolt on you could have, fully rebuilt motor with forged parts to handle the bigger turbos. car is gonna be an animal! just been on back burner to get customers cars out priority, keep cash coming in to buy more mods for mine lol.
One thing I feel you guys do amazing is provide information on parts and new businesses we can buy parts from that we may have not known before. I have a 300zx and there isn't a massive amount of info on TH-cam about them or options for parts. A full restoration with modifications would be an awesome example to the 300zx community of what you can do and where to buy products from.
here's the thing, I love watching quinn do rebuilds of engines. idc what it is, the guy just knows what he's doing and it's so lovely to watch him work.
IMO You should rebuild that car with VG engine with twin turbos.. swap is getting too comon in that cars... always nice to see nice numbers in Z32 with oem engine
Please don't swap an engine from another manufacturer. I enjoy the more bolt on videos, but restorations that save an otherwise doomed car are the best. Super excited for this one guys!!
An oem plus type of rebuild would be really cool whether it’s the n/a motor or the turbo keeping it original but cleaning everything up with some mild mods would be cool
Love it!! I own a TT Z32, and I gotta say the VG30DETT is a really underrated engine. Would be cool to see a clean saved Z32 with a built TT VG in it.

would love to see a twinz widebody kit, polar engineer twin turbo kit.
I’ve also had my hand in this platform and idk your budget on the project but I’d 100% do a twinz body kit, 2j, milspec harness, pedal box, lighten up as much as possible, Akibono brake kit, nice wheels with some dish and most importantly a steering angle kit lol ABS delete with smoothing the engine bay. I’m telling you it would be nice, the NA drivetrain can definitely keep up. I’m following this build closer than most now haha
First you picked the wrong 300zx chasis a 2+2 instead of 2+0. Parts are hard to get for the interior. Leaving that behind I would go with a 1jz or 2jz. Hopefully this build doesn’t take like a year to be done but you guys have the media to complete it. I’m really excited to see what you guys do based on the challenge. 👍🏼
This is definitely exciting for the channel . And I'm loving the comment section so far. As far as the body goes , factory aero is the only option . Engine wise I think an RB25 Neo would be amazing . Hit up the boys over at Wiring Specialties and they will sort out a complete engine / chassis harness for you with the ECU of your choice and make this car plug and play .

LS would be pretty cool. All of the engine choices seem cool, but an LS would be a departure from what you would usually do and would be interesting.

I’m excited for this cause I just recently purchased a 300zx had to custom build my own power steering. (Power steering still won’t work) and I’m doing a lot to restore it so I’m hoping they show us a lot of things that would be helpful to us zx owners

I think keeping a VG in it would be really cool, the VG can push some serious power when built out 👀 Not to mention they sound insane with a good exhaust 😍
I'd put an SR20DET with a modern ECU, and do really good brake and suspension upgrades to make an affordable track car. Then I'd take the team and see how everyone improves track times.
Kinda gives you a different style which makes the people that work there more relatable seeing them improve.

I've missed the old Throtl! These full transformations/restorations are always so much more fun to watch compared to just putting suspension, exhaust, and wheels on a nearly new car. So excited to see this build progress!
I don't know much about these but I love how they look with those F40 style wings, like the Bomex one.
This build is definitely going to be a fun one to watch. I think that since it's being dubbed the $300zx, it should be a budget build. You guys are more known for not having limits for your car builds, so building something with a set limit might be really fun to watch and a little more relatable.
Budget build and Z32 don’t go well together, they got their bad reputation from budget parts, I have no issues with my twin turbo that I owned for 6 years but I only used OEM Nissan parts or top name brands

Drop in a VQ37VHR and supercharge it. 6 speed. Maybe AWD? Do a Vis Racing Viper kit on the front and sides and a Vis Racing Tracer rear bumper. Carbon Fiber hood of course. And something like a Kansei Tandem wheels package. Paint her up in a super bright silver with lots of flake and mild pearlescent top coat. Keep the interior clean and basic.

I have a z32 myself. It would be amazing to see you guys link up with MISSION Z in Japan and get their body kit. They’re a small but popular company at the same time. They’re really paving a new way for new aftermarket z products

Definitely a wide body with front carbon fiber fenders and hood... some coils with some 18's stretch tires and deep dish... and a dobe ass wing with some carbon fiber seats and Alcantara leather red and black interior... and a custom sports steering wheel. It's going to be an awesome build!

To answer your question,
First get an engine that works, install. Get car running. Bro youll need a transmission that works, and it all needs to work ,
So bro. In short the car needs to be running first.
That will be a very major challenge, and so focus on that. Once thats done
Put it through its paces. . Day in day out. Then, door locks, trunk lock
And fix other things as you go along
A Z32 300zx 2+0 was my first car, it was a 1994 NA with 169k when I got it, this car is what sparked my love for cars, and I would love to own one again I honestly wouldn't care about if it ran or what shape it was in... no rust and a roller is all I'd need
Instead of using the VG30 why not go with the VR30? I feel like it could be a really cool OEM+ type build!

Nowadays, the Z32s are extremely hard to find not totally clapped out. You actually found a pretty good starter...not perfect, but pretty good. Looking forward to the transformation... beyond what the factory had to offer (ie:VG30DETT). Having done an RB26DETT swap into a Z32... no regrets! and keeps a very particular degree of respect and heritage to the Z series cars. Have fun. Staying tuned

It's about time the z32 is getting some love! I've seen countless 350z and 370z builds as well as building high hp 300zx tt! Something that I've never seen is a full build high compression na 300zx! That would definitely be one of a kind!!!! Show some love to the VG30DE! Plz!!!
I’m a z31 owner and if you want to do something different… I say swap a VG33. You’ll be going to SOHC, but they boost great and they’re suuuper cheap. Trans you have mates right up. Give you a lot more space in the engine bay. If not, I say VQ or LS 😁
I myself am a 300zx owner and I’ve decided to do a Sr20 swap deciding if to do a single turbo or go the extreme and do a twin turbo setup so I personally would love to see a throtl build just like that. You guys have worked on some top of the line motors already that we all know can make crazy amounts of power think it’s time to try the SR20 turbo setup
i found your channel through your 3000GT build, as that's one of the cars i own and love (its a JDM GTO i live in the UK) my other love is a car i sold and deeply regret as i wanted a R33 Skyline at the time, that car was a 300ZX, Evan you've made my day getting this OG JDM hero car, ignore the other guys please build the 300 put your throtl magic into it but don't go OTT i.e cut arches etc keep it V6 but where possible lets see some more restoration content (sandblasting and powdercoating) as well as new parts, thanks in advance and fingers crossed you use your expertise to save this icon
Dump a 1UZ in there, everyone has seen JZ, RB swaps....run it on a haltech (off the shelf support) quick and dirty swap.....looks like a fun project

Hear me out! 🤔 Wide body, coil overs, RB26 single turbo, A pillar dimple die cage with throttle insignia plates, status racing seats, 3inch single custom titanium exhaust with burnt tip, cosmic racing deep dish wheels gun metal finish with chrome lips, dark purple 4 or 6 piston front brakes, dual caliper rear brake setup with hydraulic e brake handle, rear seat delete, jet black paint with dark purple metallic flake cage, some carbon goodies, digital dash, borderline ridiculous wing, time attack/drift build.
VR38DETT engine would be interesting. Worked for Nissan for 20 years, Rickie is 1000% correct. A complete nightmare to work on, second only to the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4.
All parts for the Z32 are hard to come by as well. Thanks to Renault buying Nissan and a change in the parts supply policies.

Full engine rebuild would be SWEET! Would love to watch it being stripped an rebuilt. Putting the throtl guys to the test!
Put a supercharged LS in it with a manual shift trans. Get the body parts and have it wrapped in satin brown with white wheels with chrome lips. Of course, brakes and suspension.
I have seen a video of this car with the right exhaust, and it sounds like the perfect mix between Japanese tuner and American muscle. I would love for this car to be just a built, boosted, track-oriented version of its OEM self: not too crazy with the engine swaps and everything.

Definitely wanting to see this be brought back to life cause I know you guys will do it right. It maybe a bit of a pain but the demo would be straight forward and simple. Once the parts are all there then it’s just running the harness and putting new stuff and upgrades on. Could be a simple and clean OEM build too. Really would love to see this get the love and attention it deserves

I think you guys need to go all out on this car. Make it pop with the flashiest parts and a popping color. I haven't seen many people do that on a 300zx and it would be cool to have a different 300zx compared to the rest. Love your videos guys, keep up the amazing work!
Hees what you should do to the $300 ZX - Build a OEM+ clubsport version - Like the 80's porsche clubsport or the GTI club sport. Trash the back seat, lighten the car as much as possible -
A twin turbo 1uz-fe would be a unique swap and sticking to jdm roots with some extra muscle behind it.
The 300zx has potential but that one is bad off, the auto to manual swap will be a pain to deal with in itself

Wohooo!! 10k baby! I posted this in our 300zx groups and it got some pretty good attention. Please let me know if you need guidance on where to get some parts. Some of the stuff you’ll need will be somewhat hard to find. I tore my car down to the shell and built it back up. There are companies like Merlin Machining, polar engineering, and BDE that will have lots of the power train and guys that have lots of Body parts laying around. TwinZ also makes some sick body kits for this platform.
I was working at Nissan Dealers when they came out. Always loved those Z's. It took 3k in parts to fix a front or rear end crashed one. I delivered allot of parts for them.

Pretty excited for this build! My recommendation for the build would be rb swap, put a nice kit on it, underglow, and do a nice interior setup with maybe some Brides. But whatever path you guys take im sure it will be awesome!
SR20 or KA T build. KA T would be good as a teaching tool to help others learn how to do proper KA T build. Something different not done yet in that chassis might be Ford Ecoboost 4cyl?
