Thanks for watching! It's pretty amazing isn't it? I enjoyed your recent video on it as well. The number of people I see get a Microcosm and it never leaves their board, while other pedals come and go, really says a lot. A modern classic in my opinion.
This really helped me understand how to use the pedal. Microcosm's channel does a great job showing what the effects sound like, but this really helped me figure out which knobs I have to press to get to that point. Maybe it's just me but there's a huge learning curve to this pedal, and even though there is a manual, I need videos like this to learn.
Got mine today, have watched a few videos before this one and came away feeling frustrated. This shows in a beautiful, musical way how to move around the pedal. Really great, thanks.
thanks a lot for this Demo. I just don't understand why company such as Hologram dont hire people like you for complete demo on their site, especially for complicated pedals like this one. After watching your demo it's crystal clearn and easy
thanks for this video. just a couple of questions: so its possible to record 3 overdubs over the first loop? and is it possible to play back single overdubs to be able to record them seperately into a daw?
Awesome demo. Some of these sounds really reminded me of "Impressions for Headphones" which is great ambient lofi record. Lots of similar dreamy sounds and guitar sound stacking. Beautiful work sir.
This sounds like a great pedal. Very nice demonstration of its looping capabilities. No wonder the current batch seems to be sold out. I see that the Zoia that features in a lot of your other videos couldn't keep too far away either, lurking almost out of shot. I'm definitely subscribing, as I am intrigued by the Microcosm, and I certainly need to check out your Zoia videos for more ideas for patching mine. Great work; keep the excellent videos coming!
I can't believe just how "smart" the looper is on the pedal. I have an RP floating around somewhere where it seemed like you needed to hit the loop directly on the right beat or it would go wonky. I bought the Microcosm as a drunk purchase and ...... well, I just can't return it after 4 hours of using it. I just could use some more tutorials on looping and layering. Thanks for the help Max.
This pedal is just what I need. But now realized that this pedal will work great together with my el Capistan and Electro harmonix grand Canyon. I hope.
Interesting comments. Although I find the Zoia fascinating, the interface has always turned me off. The Microcosm might be a venue to follow, impressive demo!
@@gatorgoforth3097 Mine will finally arrive this week. They sold out so I had to preorder and just wait till it finally shipped. So if you can be patient, buy it and be prepared to wait 2-3 weeks.

Amazing video, thank you! If you had to pick a single FX pedal what would you chose between Microcosm and Zoia specifically in terms of the looper function and general sound creation? Thanks in advance!
For looper I prefer the Microcosm. Microcosm is more immediately inspiring to me, but the more you dig into ZOIA the more amazing it gets. It really depends how much time you're willing to put in with ZOIA.
can you only store like one long loop or a bunch of short ones? i seem to not be able to store 16 equally long loops ? or maybe im doing something wrong still i wanted to create 16 different loops to save or is it shared ? maybe you could let me know
@@MAXDECAY it doesnt really . I might be not understanding the loops as far as maybe a knob makes some shorter then others . That's all I'm doing is this machine I want to get 16 loops and demo them . I'll post somthing noone liked my unboxing I guess it was way too minimal it was before bed
@@strangesevin The only thing that should affect the loop length is when you press record and stop on your first pass. If you have quantize on it may trim a tiny bit to the nearest beat but shouldn't be as drastic as what it sounds like your experiencing. Just saw one of your videos. Good singing. What do you use for the vocal effect/harmonies?

That's a big question! I guess I would say that Microcosm is quicker to inspire but ZOIA can be infinitely inspiring if you put some time into it. I honestly can't imagine getting rid of either of them.
Fantastic video! How would you feel about this replacing a standard loop pedal on the board? Obviously it can do a lot more, but does it's loop function make a looper pedal obsolete?
LittleBigPancake it really just depends what you like to do and if you want another layer of looping somewhere else in your chain. This could definitely replace a standard looper though and like you said, do a lot more too.
Tough call! ZOIA if you have more time to spend experimenting. Microcosm if you want immediacy. ZOIA is able to get lofi sounds if you don't have another source for that effect already. Microcosm I would pair with a lofi pedal. While Microcosm has built in reverb and modulation, ZOIA is more flexible in those regards, plus effects like tremolo, chorus, EQ, cab sim, overdrives, etc. I enjoy looping on Microcosm more. Those are the things that come to mind.
Does anyone know of any good tutorials for guitarists to start learning about how to set up pedals using stereo ins/outs? I have a very limited understanding and I feel like buying a pedal like this would necessitate a firm grasp on how to use all of the input and output options. ALSO amazing tutorial for the pedal.
I'd be happy to help by answering any questions you have. Just shoot me a message on Instagram. As far as the inputs and outputs, you would use a single cable to the input just like any other pedal and then run two cables out into whatever you're using as an amp. If you are playing with real amps you will need two amps. If you run into an amp sim you will need one with a stereo input option (Line 6 HX Stomp, Walrus ACS1, Strymon Iridium, etc.) or two mono amp sims. If running directly into an interface, just run the two pedal outputs into two separate input on the interface.
@@MAXDECAY My man! Thanks for the thorough response. Just gave you a follow on insta, I'm sure I'll hit you up if I have any other burning questions for you.
Beautiful stuff. Curious whether you have an approach for getting a seamless loop while recording. In my use there is a super clear break when the loop restarts that interrupts the whole vibe.
Thanks! Yes there is a trick that works great for loops not dependent on a tempo. You simply start recording and don't play anything. Just record silence for as long as you want the loop to be, then switch to overdub and start playing. Since there was no audio playing when you first started recording there will be no discernable pop, drop in volume, etc.
It really depends on the mode and I learn the nuances of each mode the more I use the pedal. You can also control the timing of effects very well by using the tap tempo or MIDI syncing.
