    Priceless Robert, thank-you! Going from BMW to RS660 this season, mostly for survival. Setting up very similar, but I weigh 190 and hope I don’t skip front tire with Ohlins. Are you “old school” clutching up and down on shifts? Were you using launch control? Hope to see you up at The Ridge some time.

    • @skwidvids
      @skwidvids  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a lot! That’s part of the same reason I made the switch but I honestly feel like I’m more on the edge with the 660 than I did on my RSV4. As far the the suspension, I didn’t spend enough time properly setting it up which was a factor in how mine handled. I haven’t had as much seat time as I would’ve liked this past season so it’s still not ideal but it’s better. I had to downshift with my clutch after a lap or so because the limiter wouldn’t allow for autoblips if the revs were too high. The quick shifter (up) worked fine. No launch control on my bike so just good ol fashioned crappy starts. We’re actually trying to plan a track day at the ridge. My wife is scheduled to race there this season so it would be ideal to get out there before then.

    Why did you swap Form the Rsv4 to the Rs660?
    Me actually trying to convince myself that the Rs is enough for my use

    • @skwidvids
      @skwidvids  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Several reasons but the main two being money and lack of support for racing. Getting the RSV4 set up sorted is all guess work because there’s no one who REALLY knows those bikes around my area.

      @Errol.C-nz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@skwidvids Doing the same but purely costs of tracking gsxr1k burns up tires.. was looking at the R7 but never been a fan of the frame/chassis .. just an MT7 frame quick & dirty model rush to market.. im sold on the RS which i think will be cheaper to develop to a same point of race prep than the Yamaha.. would've been good in this vid to have gotten footage from that lass on the 400 & her perspectives of that lap & her strategy for re-passing you.. great insights to club sport.. cheers from NZ

    • @skwidvids
      @skwidvids  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Errol.C-nz From what I've seen, the R7 is totally capable but as you said, the 660 is a much better platform to start with. Less development required. As far as the gal on the 400, it would've been cool to get footage from her perspective but I don't know if she was recording and frankly, I don't have the energy post race to do anything other than hydrate and wait for the next one or pack up to go home.

    How to calibrate?

    • @skwidvids
      @skwidvids  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you go into your menu, you have a “calibration” option. Once you select it, ride the bike in second gear at 25mph until the calibration screen turns off. Then you turn off the bike for 30 seconds and you should be good to go.

    • @skwidvids
      @skwidvids  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SGTMARSHALL1 No lies! I think the only advantage I’ll have is that I came from an RSV4 so I may be more comfortable with higher speeds and the bike moving around a lot. At least for a little bit.

    • @SGTMARSHALL1
      @SGTMARSHALL1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@skwidvids experience is obvious when you watch your video, so why step down to the 660 if you have the Big Gun ?

    • @skwidvids
      @skwidvids  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SGTMARSHALL1 Great question. Biggest factor is money. The big bike is more expensive to race. Fuel, tires, other consumables add up really quickly on liter bikes. Another factor was the fact that the experts in the Superbike class are on MotoAmerica spec machines. Significantly better electronics. As capable as the RSV4 is, there isn’t nearly enough knowledge and support for them in my area like there are for the Japanese bikes and even BMW so that meant I was guessing at set up. At that pace, you really need to be dialed in.
