I think your under estimating this ep, it laid ground work for future ones imo, we got to learn that maybe the 'At' planets are multiple copies, SM33 was developed further, the kids got to learn how to use weapons which maybe necessary later on, Wim and Fern are getting closer. That big weapon on the roof, well if the planets are copies, then At Attin may have one and it may have shot the pirate ship down, it may also put the kids at risk when they get back. If the coordinate tower exists on other 'At' worlds they may visit others or take SM33 to a droid smith, possible tie in there with Mandalorian or Boba Fett and or the pirates, cos there is a bounty issued by the wolfy pirate captain. It brings in more questions too, how long ago did the pirate ship end up on At Attin,? Did it get buried over time or was it deliberately buried? Is that pirate captain still alive on At Attin or was he one of the skeletons on the ship? Phew yeah think that's about it for the ideas spinning around in my head.
I get the filler takes but character develpment takes time and it is something done through filler. I agree that this felt like the shortest episode, but I still want more.
It really comes down to how much you like Neel because his pov is the center of the episode (is he a coward, is he brave, is making peace more brave than war, very no the nose points).
Nothing gets me more irrationally angry and want to argue with strangers on the internet than when people call character driven episodes “filler”. I bet he’s one of those few heathens out there who dislike the peak episode of ATLA: The Tales of Ba Sing Se. I do agree that the writing/directing was off this episode. Like one of them said, it was the first episode that felt “kiddie” in the simplicity of the character interactions. The dialogue was more clunky than it has been. That said, the core of what they were trying to do with Neel and the girl was great, it was just lazily executed.
It's not filler. There is no filler in these streaming series, which is why they are all different run times. They contain what they need and leave out what they don't need. It's hilarious how the idiot who previously whined that all episodes should be longer and the same length turns around and calls one filler.
Thanks to Julien, Jack, Ryan and Christian! ✨💀✨ I enjoy the kind of episodes that build the world and develop characters... the stuff that happens in between the main plot/quest. The term "filler" is overused and needlessly negative. I call 'em gravy. As this show is aimed at kids, this sort of episode is necessary for young minds. 🔸 Enjoy your festive celebrations!!!
Star Wars, Marvel Universe, DC Universe, all made for kids/teens. Seeing all these boomer reactors talking about filler episodes, constantly bitching cause it wasn't what they expected it to be. Constantly referring to what they felt as kids when they saw said franchise for the first time. The writing was bad. No, the writing was for kids. They simply outgrown what they loved when they where young. With every year they get older they will feel more disconnected with what they loved as kids. It's called becoming an adult. The problem is now that they are adults they can't let go. Deal with it in an grownup manner and move on.
I liked seeing the kids run up and hug him which you can see on his face had an effect. Then in the elevator starts going up shaking they gather closer to him I hope that later if it comes down between the kids safety and him getting that treasure he would choose the kids
Man idk if I’m the only one but I’d really like to see a series or movie set in the high republic time. Like do an anthology movie like Rogue one with the film being just as great as that movie. Have it be about the first first book Light of the Jedi maybe with some added content that the author had to remove from the book. Make it between 2-2:30 hours. With its box office stats great enough then definitely do some movie movies or series again couple 3-4 years later
My theory on the whole suburbs thing is because they are technically being held captive on that planet. It's town planning the Star Wars version. It's housing built specifically for a working community, to make them happy little drones. It's a nice place to live, with gardens/green spaces and all the amenities you would need designed specifically so the workers don't want to leave... They are happy being prisoners and they don't even know it, it's really evil..
It was an episode of Star Trek Voyager where time moved differently on the surface of the planet, compared to Voyager, which was in orbit around the planet.
I understand that the guys feel like this is filler, but I think they missed several points. Like, the point was to “show, don’t tell” a bunch of lore, from that these 8 “jewels of the republic” that were “destroyed” weren’t destroyed. They fell, and deteriorated for one reason or another. But the point was to show that there’s history here. Hundreds of years since this planet fell into chaos, (which, there being people still there, is the reason they can’t go to the supervisor tower immediately.) but sapient life is still there. The statue they look at. These kids come from a cookie cutter world right? But they don’t recognize it. Which means there was likely some rise to power of a person, followed by the rebellion against that person, and the fall of at achran’s society. And yeah, there was the kids and the crush. That was to teach fern that even in a world where kids are treated like adults, like how she wants to be, life is still hard. It’s necessary character development for her. Then we’ve got neal getting his lesson in courage, etc. remember, Star Wars IS FOR KIDS TOO, not just us grownups. So maybe we chill out on it being a kids show for one episode huh? And finally, since this plot is very treasure planet/island, we needed this to reveal smee’s mimir situation, and his “helped booby trap the treasure” thing. It also names all of the 9 planets, and gives us coordinates to all of them, except one, thereby giving us a way to figure out if smee had been to all of these planets, or if there was one he missed, because that one will have coordinates home for them.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with watching programs with an uncritical eye. I think those of us who do may have a higher enjoyment level of the material. I usually watch a program twice - once “my way” and then again after I have watched a few breakdowns by those of you who are more critical and/or eagle-eyed than I am. Both viewings are enjoyable.
The problem is not filler or worldbuilding. The problem is these shows are too short. Eight episodes is not enough. This show should have been twenty plus episodes. Instead of getting one set of coordinates from K'y'mm they should have gotten a list and spent several episodes traveling to different worlds having minor adventures and developing the characters. This episode could have been a mid-season episode after which they could have started visiting the other AT-planets and revealing the backstory of these planets. More episodes means that every episode doesn't have to be a perfect plot delivery machine.
It wasn't that it was filler, it was that all those characters introduced for this episode were boring. If it looked cooler, we wouldn't have cared about it being filler.
Didn’t say the episode was bad. But all of the important things that propelled the plot, don’t happen until the last scene. The rest of it was world building for a show that only lasts 8 episodes. If there were more episodes or more time, I wouldn’t have minded it as much, but we’re halfway through and had a whole episode about nothing important to the kids other than the end. That was my issue
This might tie into a program from the High Republic, but I’m starting to believe the “great work” mentioned in this show might differ from the High Republic’s Great Works entirely. I have to agree this was the weakest episode so far, which is disappointing considering the Daniels were behind it. I had high hopes for what they’d bring, but unfortunately, it fell short. I suspect the limited runtime is to blame. That said, we did get some solid character development and great ending that that did bring the plot forward, which was a redeeming factor.
Disagree about this episode being kiddy-ish. SM-33 was going to dismember the children and one faction used the kids as canon fodder child soldiers. Neither of those are things you'd see on Dora the Explorer cartoon or Disney Jr toons.
Ugh. Dude is so whiny 😢 cry baby lol. This episode was fine..also news flash this us first and foremost a kid focused show and was heavily promoted that way..also what up with the hate of black people in starwars? Now Wym isn't good enough. Smh he is awesome and definitely a highlight of the show

I 1000% agree and wish I took the time to make my opinion on the episode more clear.

Agreed! I liked the episode and felt that the character development was important
Filler my arse. Wtf!? What is wrong with you dweebs? Where is the filler? Shite but sorry, shite

None of Andor is filler. thats a wild take.
There's a huge slog to get to the heist.
Agreed, but everyone’s entitled to their opinion! Christian and I almost lost our minds hearing that take haha
Welcome to the short-attention-span generation.

I completely agree!! I tried my best to push that this was a good character development episode (especially for a “kids” show).
@@ryanosouless I am so grateful you lent that voice to the conversation, dear Ryan. 🫂

This one's a literal side quest. This local warlord will get you to the next clue if you help him recover his stolen herd of eopies.
😂😂😂
That's literally not a side quest
The world-building...MAGNIFICENT.
Agreed!

Remind Debbie Downer of The World Between Worlds. And the fact character and world building and plot setup is not "Filler".

Plus with as much as the pirates stuff as been really good in this series I think seeing the Nihle on screen could be even better
It was an episode of Star Trek Voyager where time moved differently on the surface of the planet, compared to Voyager, which was in orbit around the planet.
A double negative becomes a positive, so, “Can’t say I remember no At Atin,” becomes “I remember At Atin,” but can’t say it.

Exactly.

A lot of things happened. Doesn't have to have big battles to be a good episode.
