Part of the Plan, when I first heard it at age 17, fertilized the already planted seed of poetry in my soul, and was part of the reason I took up writing poetry again as an adult, having given it up in early secondary school grades. He's one of the big 3 influences on my life as a poet.
I'll bet if Gerry Beckley though it was close enough he'd have said something since they were friends. But they're both awesome songs and Daisy Jane came out in 1975 and Heat Hotels came out in 1979 or 1980.. Great catch though Charles.
Hi BT. Yes music can take you away. Even more, It is used as a Therapy. Lying on the floor, closing your eyes, relaxing yourself and next "Special sounds/music that will heal your wounds, that can absolutely change your spirit and make MUCH, MUCH HEALTHY and MUCH MORE HAPPY. As I may have mentioned elsewhere, by the way, I wonder if you'll be bringing Gordon Lightfoot into the channel, soon. He was, after all, cited by Dan Fogelberg as a major songwriting influence on Dan's development.
@@TheBlindTrucker I love this song, called Circle of Steel. It is simultaneously one of the most profoundly sad and delicately beautiful songs I've ever heard. And, because it's not one of his radio hits, so it may be new to some. th-cam.com/video/--QaFL_eXeM/w-d-xo.html

Thanks for sharing that. I love hearing how music affects others.
Dan Fogelberg was a master poet. His songs always told stories in beautiful and unusual ways! Loved your intro. I agree completely.
I wonder if America ever noticed that he lifted their melody from "Daisy Jane", for this song.
Have a great day.
