Interesting post note David Byrne from the talking heads moved to Brazil And became a music producer effectively he's the Rick Rubin of Brazil and he's won a metric ton of awards
The Talking Heads were a favorite of the artsy crowd in the late 70s and throughout the 80s. It's so cool that about 40 years later, people are still trying to figure out their creative genius... their stuff really is timeless.
Little kids loved his music too. I was one of them "ORE IDA... Hot Potato" It just dawned on me that they sell frozen French fries and tater tots. It's a brand of frozen potato products 😅
A lot like Jon Anderson of Yes. He wrote lyrics that would sound good with the music but not necessarily to make sense. Although if you were to ask Jon, he would tell you that his lyrics do tell a story but one that only he could decipher.
1:55 - Yes that was the dad from _Roseanne,_ aka John Goodman. This video is taken from a weird funny movie David Byrne made that starred Goodman, called _True Stories._ Several of the people in the video are supposed to be imitations of other famous musicians. I'll leave you to work out who is supposed to be who.
This music video is a clip from the musical movie 'True Stories" by David Byrne. Yes... That was John Goodman you saw, also known as the dad from the show Rosanne. It was his first real acting job, and it helped to make him famous. There are a few famous people in this movie. Like I said, it's worth watching.

It’s unfortunate that you miss out . 60’70’ and 80 ‘s music have been recycled. You had to be there to fully appreciate the music with the time .Your turn is next. I wonder what music will you will be listening to in 2050. Today’s Music is pitiful. Have a good day !

Thanks for sharing. I didn't know that.
Byrne "rediscovered" Tom Ze, revitalizing his career. He's such a legend for that alone.
Absolute classic! This song always gets ya going.
When decades later people are still trying to figure out the meaning you know you have written a classic song
The first two lines are "I'm wearing fur pyjamas, I ride a hot potato"

Bass playing in this song is AMAZING!!!!
Guys, don't sweat it. David Byrne 's writing style is putting phrases together based on how they sound rather than what they mean

Well there was one real famous musician in it, who followed John Goodman and that was Meatloaf.
A classic - inventive, surprising and gets you going musically! - These guys are genuiuses!
That first line to me always sounded like, "I'm wearin' filthy drawers!" This whole True Stories album is worth a listen; several great songs on it!
Actor John Goodman at 1:45 ! (The Flintstones, The Artist, Flight.....).
The video was making fun of the new trend of karaoke
John Goodman yes was there ( Roseannes husband) most people know him from several movies 😂🤗🇧🇻
With all the band parodying other pop stars i always forget John Goodman's in this video
Yes, that is the Dad from Rosanne.

Yes that’s big Dan Conner
From the David Byrne movie, True Stories, absolutely worth seeing, fantastic and funny musical movie.
I think most of their songs are in some way or form an expression of existential angst.
It's a niche song. It's a parody of musicians and artists that were well-known at that time in pop culture. You probably don't recognize any of them.
Billy Idol is but one
What about John Goodman and others though.
from the film TRUE STORIES, a david byrne film...many hollywood actors in the video
I saw them in CBGBs before they were famous.
You must be older than God's dog.
Wow Brad
The first line is
I'm wearing fur pyjamas
I'm surprised no one has told you guys that the words "wild wild life" is a reference to saying the word "cocaine"
Best one is Road to nowhere :)
David Byrne directed a movie called True Stories. This song and video go with the feel movie. And John Goodman is in the movie.
The modern listener is depressingly literal. Too concerned with what words mean that they miss how they feel… or feel together.
After John Goodman was sam kinison the comedian.
I love this song and I LOVE this video!
Jeffrey did you Trip button Talk and go to a Talking Heads concert crippling balls?😅😅😅
I'm thinking Jeffrey that that would've been a wild experience tripping balls and watching Talking Heads😅😅😅😅
You gotta understand the context of the song and the video. The video is actually an out take from his movie and it is about a small town.

Yes, “wild, wild life” is a reference to coke. Lyrics make much more sense when you know this.
