      If that's all it is, Schneider's bracket doesn't have a ton of followers to make it work
      We have a sea of comedians on this platform known as influencers. Explaining the joke is peak comedy, or it would seem so with all the reaction videos. Everybody wants in on the discussion
      Breaking things down that way can work, it would just seem to work best when you hold the clipboard as opposed to doing a bit. Schneider's career seems to have been being rolled up in the gig economy. It's not really his life's work, showing us the scope of humor. He's usually just the buffoon
      His bit is literally the Waterboy/Nicky character. He's the part of us that wants to blurt, but normally we wait for the idiot with no impulse control

    *"It’s a fundamentally funny thing for me. On the surface, [he’s] an entirely narcissistic bully, and then you can play off some really sad, pathetic qualities in that person. I’m glad you picked up on that. It’s woven throughout. Stewart Lee has made a career out of doing a similar thing to Tim's "An evening with tim heidecker" special, if you havn't seen any of his specials (or the series he did for the bbc) i'd recommend trying to find them. One of his recurring bits is telling a joke, it not getting a laugh or as much of a laugh as he wanted, then stopping the show to explain the joke to the audience in a patronising manner, scolding them for not getting the joke.

    • @SolarFlairIsBestPony
      @SolarFlairIsBestPony 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      I usually find Tim's comedy doesn't hit for me. Its not that he's never funny, but often his material is somewhere in the land of committing too hard to not going hard enough or just going really hard on something that wasn't interesting enough to go hard on. You're right that not being funny in just the right way that its funny is hard... and I don't think he pulls it off.

      Yeah, and Black Sabbath was hated by critics. Critics have always been clueless dorks pretending to be smart.

    Shane Gillis is not remotely as terrible as Rob. Sometimes comedy can be offensive. It's all about context.

      I saw him on the H3H3 podcast and Ethan played one of his videos for him and he looked sooo unimpressed lol. Like “that’s it? A cheap knockoff that has more views than the original?”

    I spent all of my time watching Real Rob laughing at Rob Schneider, thinking that was the goal. It didn't occur to me that the show wasn't self-aware or reflective until watching this. The author is dead, apparently.

    "the only funny moment of this show is Norm macdonald" sorta warms my heart though because it speaks to how good Norm Macdonald was, that he could manage to make people laugh during the middle of an episode of a Rob Schneider-written-and-starred sitcom.
