    Horrible design .... anytime you have to go behind a timing belt/chain to change a water pump the engineer who designed the motor failed.

Every 3k miles with synthetic blend oil. I am just wondering that if this coolant leakage problem also comes with sebring after 2006 or just before 2005? Thanks again!

    Thanks for making this video, Chris!
    I bought a used 2008 Charger back in October, and it's been one nightmare after another. It seems the water pump may be next. I won't be attempting this repair myself since I'm a beginner, but it gives me a good idea as to what the garage will be doing to it should they accept the job.

      Meg Evans no problem! I'm glad you found it helpful. It's definitely not that in depth but it certainly gives an idea of what's going on and what a pain in the butt it is. • @arnoldpalmeri
    @arnoldpalmeri 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I bought two intrepids with water pump issues. the 02 I bought I just rebuild the motor because the water pump leaked into the oil and spun all the bearings and bent all the rods. The second one I just did heads and timing set and gaskets. These arent that hard to work on. I use synthetic blend and change it every 3000 miles and inside the motor still looks nice and clean with no carbon. The only problem I had in both cars was the timing chain tensioner not having enough tension and suck back in. I only get noise when the engine is heated up and it sounds awful. My recommendation is not to use the chinese tensioners as the check valves in them are not always good. I bought 5 total between the two cars.

    • @Jon-O.
      @Jon-O. 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shalanda Mckenna you have to make sure the cooling system passes a pressure test at 15 lbs if so the cap is most likely bad causing the boiling. You also have to make sure the cooling system is completely bleed of all air too. Because air pockets can cause boiling and overheating too.

      @@WarPonyAuto that sounds like a lot of work! If it were my own car I would maybe do that. But I would probably take the whole engine apart. ok so im pretty sure this is whats happening to mine.When i crank my car in the morning its starts squealing for like 30 seconds then stops, thought it was a belt or something but i guess its the timing chain? From reading the comments. Resivour is fine but water stilll dripping out the bottom of this grid like thing everytime i put water in. Oil was a milky color, overheated about 3 weeks ago. Still cranks but not sure if the engine is knocking or not. Should i just get a new motor or replace the cylinder head and the water pump or will replacing the water pump and draining the engine and putting some oil treatment in do the trick?
    This vid was helpful even if u dont respond, thanks!

    • @NoNonsenseKnowHow
      @NoNonsenseKnowHow  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for you comment and sorry to hear about your trouble! The timing chain will not cause any squealing noises. That could be a belt, power steering pump, etc. When you say water is dripping from a "grid like thing are you referring to the radiator? If you have milky oil then its very likely the head gaskets are leaking, or the pump is shot. Based on your description the car needs to be diagnosed further do determine the best move here. I will tell you this. If the engine was overheated excessively, i would certainly consider replacing it instead of repair. Thanks again and thumbs up is greatly appreciated.

      About how much does it Cost to Replace water Pump on my 2008 300 2.7 , and should I replace timing chain too?? Is their a way to clean some of the sludge on motor or no?

    • @NoNonsenseKnowHow
      @NoNonsenseKnowHow  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jessie Urge a shop will typically charge around 600 - $800 to complete this job. as far as replacing the timing chain goes, it would really depend on how many miles your engine has and what condition the chain / guides are in. I would recommend at least replacing the tensioner though since they are failure prone. I do not recommend cleaning all the sludge out unless you're going to just pick out some of the big chunks and areas. Once you start disturbing that stuff you're going to be in for a world of trouble in the future. In my years of working on engines I have found that it's best to just leave it where it is. thanks for the comment and if the video helped you out some give it a like. thanks

    • @masonmitchell271

      The water pump starts to wear out at the 70,000 miles mark and gets worse. it's best to change it every 70,000 miles even though they say to at 100,000. Just change it at 70,000 to prevent coolant from leaking into your oil pan.

But I can’t find em, I’m so confused, is it absolutely necessary to take the valve covers off also and spark plugs to get access to bottom timing chain cover?

    • @NoNonsenseKnowHow
      @NoNonsenseKnowHow  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      How many miles are on it? If its the water pump leaking, it should be coming from a port on the drivers side of the engine. Towards the front. Pressurize the cooling system with a coolant pressure tester, or run the engine until warm and pressure has built up within the system(firm hoses) , then shut it off and check for leaks. Obviously, do not remove the radiator cap when the system is pressurized. Hope this helps let me know if you have any other questions.

      @bokneeza 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      kzguy2 it's in the middle of the car where it leaks (Past the radiator), my Chrysler 300 06 has about 167k+ at least. It seems to leak a LOT when I top off the antifreeze level in the reservoir. A few days will last. The fan constantly starts blowing, heater stops working and then it starts to overheat. *Brand new reservoir and housing* I also bled the housing for air when I had installed it about a few months ago.

      Ceasar Rodriguez
      It sounds to me like a possible cracked radiator. If the crack or hole in it is in the middle, that would make sense for it to leak more when you top off the coolant. You need to identify the exact location of the leak. If I was to guess it sounds like the radio though. Let me know what you find.

    • @GGigabiteM
      @GGigabiteM 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ceasar Rodriguez Radiators for the past 25 or so years have used plastic and rubber to
      seal the top and bottom or the sides of the radiator (depending on where
      the inlet/outlets are.) The hot coolant eventually causes the plastic
      and rubber to distort and fail, then the radiator springs a leak.
      If the heater stops working and the engine starts overheating, it probably means that the coolant has either drained below the level of the heater core or out of the engine block completely. This would make sense if the radiator had a leak because once the coolant system is pressurized, coolant can literally start spraying out of the hole and drain all the coolant out real quick.
      167k miles is a pretty long run for a plastic radiator, I'd consider changing it if you haven't already. Most of the time they're less than $150 at the auto parts place and usually aren't too difficult to install.
