Penguin Encounter: Up Close With The Penguins At The St. Louis Zoo - Behind The Scenes Tour!
We had an incredible time at the St. Louis Zoo doing one of their amazing "Behind-The-Scenes" Tours! The five of us went on the "Penguin Encounter" tour, one of several different tours they offer to the public. The website promised an "up close and personal" experience with the penguins, so we were excited to find out what that actually meant! Our tour was scheduled for 1:30 on a Tuesday afternoon, and we were advised to arrive early in order to avoid a chance of heavy traffic delaying us. We went to the North Entrance and met with our tour guide, Pat, downstairs in the Living World building at the Group Tour desk. Pat was a great tour guide, and she is one of many wonderful people that volunteer their time at the Zoo. She walked us to the back entrance of the "Penguin and Puffin Coast" habitat where we met Zookeeper Carla, who led our Penguin Encounter. She soon introduced us to four "penguin friends": Iris, Ethyl, Nathan, and Lucy. The details of our experience are in the video, but suffice it to say, it was amazing, fun, and something we'll never forget...we all loved it!
