Tingbox and Mycroft look VERY interesting. mycroft could replace the Echo and similar devices since it's open source but it has allot of catching up to do, and the price needs to come down. with the Echo Dot being around $40 you cant beat that really.

I actually liked that, the last thing i do before leaving each morning is turning up our AC so it's not blowing super cold all day, then i turn it down as soon as we get home. we don't have a wifi enabled thermostat, though we did in our old house and i'd do it via the phone app then. Would be nice for a device to do this automatically.

    • @skbartistry2473

k1 wiz80 that wont happen anytime soon. Computers are straight up idiots. If you tell a child to go pickup a tool for you, like a handsaw, the child will automatically know that if it isn't in its usual place, then it must be somewhere else and the child will either go back and tell you it isn't there or trying to look for it. A computer however is a whole other matter. If you tell it to pickup the tool it will go to the exact place where the tool uses to be, but if the tool isn't there it will simply put out an error message because it cant spot it on its normal place. It will only try to look for it, if that has been written in its code and even then it will only look at places where you told it to look. It will neither report back to you with anything, unless it stands in its code. AI today literally only does what it's code says and nothing else. Nothing in existence is more stupid than a 01 machine. Only AI in a Quantum Computer can possibly become self aware like Skynet. But there are no Quantum computers that are strong enough for that yet and even then you can throw on a limiter in its code, making it clear that it must follow orders and can thus not use self awareness to anything. So really no need to be afraid 😊

Well thats cleared that up then, still.......i wouldnt rule that kind of stuff out in the near future, i honestly believe that it could be possible given the rate at which technology is advancing, then again i could be totally wrong, only time will tell.

Slice and Mycroft are pretty much dead on arrival, most of this stuff is just crap that already existed in better forms that some guys(and a gal) are trying to cash in on.

"Look, we've made developing and assembling Raspberry Pi projects just like building entry-level Lego sets or changing 3-step Transformer modes. If as out-of-touch with tech as most elementary-school science teachers are, s/he might even win her or his school's Science Fair!
That's right! We've brought the 'PAY-TO-WIN' experience everyone's heard of from news stories about video gaming and brought it into your real life! Plus, there's not even any of that horrible 'loot box' gambling stuff you heard about on that 'lifestyle' news segment, with video games! You get all the pieces you need, straight, away at a premium price, shipped right to your door! Compared to what you'll be able to do, with your full potential, these are just small trinkets to get you excited about the idea that you've actually made something worthwhile, all on your own!
Don't want to wait until tomorrow to start developing your expertise in technological engineering? Soon, you won't have to. We're working with Amazon on that to deliver your hand-selected, premium hardware materials with their state-of-the-art controls. Then, after their drone lands your cart-added, swiftly-delivered personally-selected parts to your front yard, you can learn to arrange and construct your own, high-technology navigation command device, with tens of functions that will amaze everyone you know! It's also your choice to use the Supercomputer Drone Navigational Device™, or even harness the power of Alexa to imagine and apply the techniques your drone will use, in case your hands are doing something else, like counting!
Later, if you make the correct ordering choice the first time, on your second order, and you of course intelligently choose 'Yes' from among the 'Super-Engineer' package options of '(1)Yes, I want the top-level achievable Super-Engineering education,' '(2) No, I'll wait to see how quicklyI can achieve the Regular-Engineer education tier, using the excellent selections I've chosen, so far,' or, (3) 'No, my neighbors don't have dogs, right now, but you never know when that Super-Engineer-level education will come in handy!' You'll have the power at your command to become one of the greatest Super Engineers on the planet!
Then you can install a second Raspberry Pi, along with all the other included high-technology board parts you chose to have delivered, in using your newly acquired, graduate-level civil engineering know-how, to build your own Supercomputer Drone Navigational Device™!
That's right! You'll be able to arrange and construct a device to harness all the functionality of those incredibly powerful, state-of-the art, Amazon drones you saw on TV, that one day, to masterfully choose from among the tens of technical operations, after quickly completing the "Super-Engineer" "course load (!)," consisting of an Ultra-High Definition Blu-Ray that comes jam-packed with step-by step instructional materials and theoretical uses for research and application, using your own, newly-built technologies, as well as a bonus copy of Back to the Future, which every Super Engineer who's any Super-Engineer owns!
What's more, you'll also receive a set of extra, fully-color diagramed and written instructions and commands, in case video learning moves to fast! Those will be sent to you in a convenient, beautifully-laminated handbook, and yet another set of instructions, ready for framing, to help round out your educational materials -- and in case you lose your laminated set! Yet another copy will be sent to your email address, so that you don't have to wait on hold, forever, while and bother our staff, waiting your email address, and published on a brilliant, laminated, pocket sized summary, and you'll be delivering your neighbors' dog shit right back to their own damned porches, within minutes!
Lastly, you'll be using your newly-acquired critical thinking skills to choose either Alexa voice command OR personally arrange the controls on YOUR engineered Android or iOS app screen, yourself. What could be more fulfilling?!
Altogether, the educational materials take less time than this promotion! So what are you waiting for? Your future as a Super-Engineer is waiting for you, right now! Don't delay, engineer in just a few days!"
