I am very impressed in how you guys dealt with the carnivore attacking. I wish my group was a little less hurt whenever we get attacked. It makes games like king of tokyo impossible to play for our group. You guys do a wonderful job!
FYI for those interested, there is a free app in the Play Store to play/learn/practice this game (Android, I'm sure it's also there for iPad/iPhone users). I just started it and it's pretty solid.

Very awesome video, I was searching and couldn't find a game actually being played instead of just a 1 person tutorial so was great to see how 4 people played this out. I supported the new kickstarter so I'm excited to play.

I'm fairly certain that the food you get from the pool to add to your fat tissue during the feeding phase counts for the purpose of triggering other cards that depend on getting fed. It's the fat that goes from the fat tissue to the population card that doesn't.
Noone answered Nikki's question about whether cooperation was down the line or just the one neighbor - it's the latter, Lincoln's third species auto-fed from the long neck not the cooperation.

FYI, the enjoyment of this game would probably increase for everyone if they first played a few hours of the digital app. It’s REALLY good, the campaign in particular. But getting your head wrapped around strategies and internalizing the rules and flow via the rapid iteration of the digital app would probably greatly increase your appreciation for the game.

Jason Detert One of the reasons we do that is because we are learning and teaching the game and strategies in these videos. We also do take backs which drives folks crazy. That is how we actually play games in our group. Another reason is he's just a pain in the butt ;-)

Warning call question: If you have 3 species and you place a warning call card on the right & left species, not the center one, how does the ambush work? Can all three be hunted? I might not be complicated when you know what you are doing...thanks for the video, but before the instructions are a bit confusing.
Jay Harman if your species have ambush, that species can kill the center one according to the rulebook's page 13. The two species on the left and right side that have warning call trait card on them each can be killed by carnivore because warning call does not protect the species that has the warning call trait according to the rulebook' page 13 too. So you can attack the left and the right species as normal but the center one you must have an ambush trait.
At 49:18, Dave says that "food" on Fat TIssue cards at the end of the game ... is scored. But the rules say "any food remaining on this trait at the end of the game is discarded and does not count as points."
Glenn Broadway I like Aaron well enough but it does feel less tense than when he and Dave are not together. No matter, I will enjoy it when he returns.

To me the game seems too open to confusion and errors in play such as the constant Body Size/Population mix-ups, remembering if food comes from the central waterhole or the food bank (which seemed to change from card to card) or which powers relate to which species and which way they go and so on. To me that's not going to deliver a pleasurable playing experience, there's going to be a lot of "Hold on..." moments. It's something that would obviously improve if you played it loads but there were a couple of thousand games released last year and between my gaming group we already easily own a hundred+ board/card games. If a game doesn't flow and wow in the first few plays it's going to disappear in the stacks and not make it to the table very often. PS - Was Nicky a bit star struck at the start, there was a lot of giggling. : )

***** Nikki's Carnivore had a population of two so she lost one population level when she attacked the creature with horns.
Lincoln Damerst Wrong, it had a population of 1 and body of 2. She should have lost both, so her only option was to attack Rich's species with the horns, then she would only loose her carnivore species.

the problem with carnivore is it doesn't give you as many points as a good cooperation combo.
I wish there were aquatic and avian animals in the base game... other than that it seems cool.

You can only have two traits on a species.
+Beasty 101 In a 2-player you can only have 2 traits per species. In anything other you can have 3 traits per species.
