    I mailed away for a rocket firing Boba Fett, and waited patiently for well over 3 or 4 months , and when it arrived I was bummed out but still overjoyed.
    That figure was mysterious and exciting, and a crown jewel of my collection for several years
    I recently opted to buy a reproduction Rocket Firing Boba Fett from Pro Custom Figures so I could actually hold what I dreamed about opening during those magical times when the toys that I bought or received lit my imagination on fire and brought hours of enjoyment and fun.
    Thanks again for the content and your videos - they are an absolute highlight of my day 🤘😎

    I too was one of the kids that sent in for mine and was bummed when it came without the firing rocket. But the figure was still cool and played with a lot. But I always wanted one, so a Vintage collection rocket firing Boba now hangs on my wall. Someone paying that price for one figure should bring up the value of all the other rocket firing Boba's.

    Stumbled upon this vid by accident and I’m not a toy collector or anything but just wanted to say how cool your data collection of toys and price ad was. Fantastic idea and very cool of you to provide the direction to your fans to do It themselves on your website!

    The only other time I have ever seen a painted version of the rocket firing Boba Fett prototype was on Pawn Stars. That example was even a carded sample😳the card back was blank too. That guy only wanted $150,000 for his 🤑so go figure 😆 thanks for the video bro 😎 🤙

    I agree, knowing who bought it is as important as pretty much any other info about the figure.
    I know I would be curious.
    I realize it would be hard for some people to change their psychology to see that they're buying the history of the figure and not the figure itself, but that $550K+ price tag sounds like a Hell of a deal.
    But, of course, I'm no expert. :)
    Great video. Well done
    Thank you. :)

    The price on this figure certainly seems astounding at a distance, but as my grandfather always told me, something is only worth as much as someone else is willing to pay for it.
    And when it comes to Star Wars fans and their love for these vintage figures, it really comes as no surprise that this one can fetch the high price that it did.
    While I could never dream of owning a legit rocket firing Fett personally, I'm happy that a) these have been preserved by folks in the community and are something that will be a pinnacle of toy collecting for a long time & b) the Kenner style rocket firing Boba Fett put out by Pro Customs looks just like the legit thing and is perfect in my current collection (at about a 10,000th of the price).
    Thanks for covering this unique piece of vintage Star Wars history Joey.

    With $600.000 I would have either the biggest Star Wars collection of all time or a museum!!
    And then spend another $600.000 to get this beautiful Boba Fett to be the holy grail of the collection! As always, it was a great video, my friend!!!
    - Question for all!
    - If you could go back in time inside the Kenner factory and only get one item, what would it be ?? (figure/ play set / vehicle)

    • @thepadawancollectorofficial
      @thepadawancollectorofficial  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh man! Thats a great question! Honestly I would get the figure mock-ups that Jim Swearengen made using the adventure people. THAT would be the ultimate for me. After that it would have been the hand painted RFB :)

    • @bountyhunter779
      @bountyhunter779 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thepadawancollectorofficial For me, the first kit-bashed Boba that was created by Jim Swearingen, based on the first original Joe Johnston-painted costume.
      Love your thought brother, and if Boba Fett is up to $600.000 imagine the price of a mock-up... but the historical value of that figure (or cardboard, I think R2 and C3 were made out of ) would have made it priceless!

    Nobody had this figure no matter what they say! I sent off for mine by mail away from an ad in UK comic book 2000ad and it was advertised as being "rocket firing", but when it finally arrived the missile was fixed and it came with a leaflet explaining why and saying that if I wasn't pleased I could send off for another random figure. No way, I was just happy to have a 13th figure nobody else had from a film that wasn't even released yet! We didn't get the Holiday Special in the UK (small mercies!) so nobody I knew had even heard of Boba Fett! Happy times...
    PS: Even if I had the money to spare, I couldn't justify paying half a million Dollars for it no matter how much I'd like one. I'm glad SOMEBODY'S got one though... 😂

    • @thepadawancollectorofficial
      @thepadawancollectorofficial  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I cant argue with you there, if I HAD the money it would be hard for me to spend this. BUT that being said... if I was THAT uber rich to where 500K seems like 5K or $500 to me, I would FOR SURE have this in my collection room this very second.

    Great video. Impressive sale. I’d also like to know more about the story behind this one. like I’m wondering who bid? I heard there were only 11 bids. That seems extremely low. Was there just two people battling it out or 11 different people with 1 bid each? I would think that for such a rare item with such history that hundreds of people would have went after this item. so having such a low number of bids makes me wonder what happened?
    Plus it’s amazing to me to see this go for so much. I remember when they were less than $1000 and people thought that was crazy to spend on a toy. I’ve seen unpainted ones in some of my friends collections that got them direct from Kenner employees and they didn’t pay anything near the prices these go for today. it’s incredible. Makes me wish I had gotten one 30 years ago also. heheh.
    Thanx for the video. great history as always.

    • @thepadawancollectorofficial
      @thepadawancollectorofficial  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes for this one I was expecting 20-40 people bidding, each with 10 bids between them, so I agree with you, it seems like a very polite bidding war was going on between two collectors who probably knew of each other and were going after this.

      I’m so glad you mentioned the Mandela effect because I have an ongoing debate with a buddy that swears a friend of his had one. I even mentioned the Mandela effect to him a few days ago. While I live in Massachusetts now we grew up together in Alabama. The likelihood of an Kenner employee that worked on Boba Fett that also lived in Alabama is about 99% impossible 🥳
      I’ll be sharing this video with him as soon as it’s available to the non-subscribers, hehe. - Ron

    the funny thing about this item, If I had had this item in 1979, I would have wanted it terribly, but since I didn't, why would I want to pay thousands for it? I have 3 perfect mint loose Boba Fetts and thats enough for me. Anyone willing to pay a 'lottery" to own this, has more money than brains! LOL..IMO.

    Half a million dollars for this figure, or pay off your mortgage and retire and go around the world and have the time of your life and just kit bash a regular Boba Fett into a rocket firing one Toy Polloi style? I know which one I'm choosing Joey 😂

    Quick reminder: plastic decays and no one under 40 gives a damn about plastic toys anymore. You will be lucky if you ever sell it by that price ever again

    • @thepadawancollectorofficial
      @thepadawancollectorofficial  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      If you ever get an action figure and it feels “sticky” that IS the plastic degrading. But to your other point, about people under 40 not caring about vintage action figures; that’s one of my goals, to reach out to younger generations and let them know WHY these older toys are so cool, give them the history behind it, and hopefully inspire them to carry the torch with this hobby for the next generations
