His sounds on awake are just perfect. The beginning of Caught in a Web is amazing. Whenever I hear Jordan play caught in the web, his sound choice makes me wince.
Despite his obvious virtuosity, I question if Jordan even understands (creatively speaking) what made Kevin Moore's contributions so interesting. He can play all of Kevin's parts, but he doesn't play them with the same conviction.
Yesterday at the Rehearsal Room, just for fun I used my Yamaha's YPT-200 (2005) synth strings and it kicked the ass out of a Roland created in 2019 that was there of another band, in every sense of Power, Volume Controls, Fidelity, Orchestation, Reverb control, Sustain and Octave Transpose. Some times Old Tech is trully better.
By far the most talented musician of all DT. Imagine what masterpieces the band would have created if Kevin hadn't changed direction in music and life. Everything else DT created later stands light years apart, no matter how good it is.
Because it's not good. Kevin was a counterbalancing weight to mindless shredding and nonsensical musical architecture all the others were chasing. Just because you can play fast doesn't mean you have creative talent.
I've got time for all their career but nothing will ever replace early Dream Theater with this genius on board + LaBrie's voice pre-vocal health issues. His gifts for composition, sound choice/design, synth soloing, piano harmony and expressing hope and melancholy in his music are irreplaceable.
100% agreed…their atmosphere was never quite as dense and vast after Kevin Moore left. His musical sensibilities really defined a large part of the early DT sound

randomly showed up today. Wow. What an insight into his performance and gear. Thanks. Trying to recreate some synth sounds from his work with Fates Warning. This is a huge help and reference point.
All 3 Dream Theater keyboardists had great tone choices, but I really like how Derek did his tones the best, he knew how to bridge the gap between proper keyboards and a second guitarist to compliment John's playstyle
This is great, all patches sound very convincing. IMHO, the piano in SDV (10:37) seems to resemble the demo version. For the studio version it requieres a better quality grand piano sample.
Idiot question but if I have the Roland JD-800vst can I load these on to their or does this only work with the real deal? I'd love to have access to these sound but obviously don't want to buy them if I can't use them. Thanks in advance.
hey guys one question is this a stand alone vst or do i need the gear. cause i got the jd 850 for kontakt but don't have this keyboard. and kevin moore is my all time best keyboardist cause his tones are magical.
oh that's a shame but thanks for the reply guys. but it will be amazing if you guys could sell a stand alone vst for keyboardist's signature tones. so many guitar vst like guitar rig, nural dsp they have that i would totally buy one stand alone vst like that for sure.
Dang I didn't know this existed! Kevin Moore had the perfect balance of speed, agility, and melody. Never really cared much for Dream Theater after he left. Does this sound bank work the the Roland cloud version of the JD-800?

Kevin Moore is a genius. Dream Theater has never reached the level it was at when he was in the line-up
Pull Me Under
Subjective, but yes.
Images and words DT's best creation! Kevin Moore his contributions to DT will never be forgotten!

It’s crazy how a synth from 93 can simply outdo every VST today in terms of pure musical qualities.
I would not ever trade my JD-800 for a VST.
Good thing Roland made a VST JD800 :)
Kevin really needs to make a preset pack for it!

1991 dude
Real DT = DT with Kevin. I'm really lucky that I met with him 16 years ago, still keeping the photo :)
ABSOLUTELY!!!!

Charlie Dominici, the best singer.
Kevis was the soul to real Dream Theater. Simple like that.
Jordan is great, no doubt about that; but Jordan is a virtuoso pianist, he is other style.

It's kind of like Mangini vs Portnoy. Mangini is a more technical drummer, but Portnoy just has a feel about him.
soul to boomer dream theater maybe! :P
His contribution to OSI is unreal. His voice has become one of my favorites.
‘Eve’ gives me chills every time. If only he had stayed on for a few albums more.

This man has a special soul. Thanks for the gift you gave us with DT!
The JD-800 has to be one of the best synths ever made
Kevin was the perfect progressive musician for DT. 😔
We miss you kevin.
Alex, grazie di esistere! We all love you! ❤️😊😘👍👏👏👌👌👏👏👏👏

Totalmente de acuerdo. En mi opinión la diferencia entre ellos es que Jordan es un gran teclista mientras que Moore es un genio de la música.
Kevin!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Kevin forever 👍🎼🎶🎶🎶
Kevin Moore is more that doctor
Kevin Moore is god!
Oh my god that Surrounded Piano Pad is absolutly stunning ☺☺
Genius
I would love to hear what Metropolis Part II could have sounded like with Kevin Moore still in the band.

Jordan Rudess Lead of Kurzweil K2600
sounds nice. Dream Theather really lost something when he left
Something???, all!

Is there a version that works with the Roland VST of the JD800?
I'm sorry but we have programmed this sound bank only for Jd800 and Jd08
