The constant repetition of movements, actions, feelings from the past, in the hope one day of being able to fix them forever, in a place where time does not flow and joys like loves do not end. The similarities of Wong Kar Wai's movies characters(except The Grandmaster as that is based on a real character), is that they all seems broken. From Days of Being Wild to 2046... They are always searching, looking, finding that elusive something in their lives to complete them. But yet ironically, they would be totally okay too if they didn't find what eludes them... they will move on and they will go on with their lives... Because in real life, people live with melancholy and with regrets because it's reality. And this is also why WKW is one of my favourite director and his movies, some of the most pivotal in my life ❤ Thank you for this edit.

I found this channel from your version of the Scott Pilgrim 'Black Sheep' video - which amazed me with how such subtle differences in clip choices and ordering could make it affect me more than the original. I've watched many of your videos since, and as another commenter said, you have a great talent for putting togegher evocative, mesmerising videos set to atmospheric, introspective music. You never fail to represent the depths of the human experience. There's an old Welsh word - "hiraeth". It doesn't translate clearly into English, but is commonly described as a layered kind of longing and sorrow. Wiki says, "It is a mixture of longing, yearning, nostalgia, wistfulness or an earnest desire for the Wales of the past." Broaden that last bit geographically and boom - I feel your videos encapsulate the full scope of that interpretation of *hiraeth* - including this latest video. Thanks for making these!

Not by chance the room they go to in "In The Mood For Love" is the 2046, the last year of freedom for Hong Kong.

This is random, but my World of Wong Kar-Wai Box Set arrived today! And I saw Beach House live recently and seeing them perform this song was absolutely amazing!
Working with directors like won kar wai, is not easy. These type of directors they are gifted in a way that their muse is the actors working for him. I totally respect him because he is synonimous to the golden hong kong cinema and drama. Idol dramas are good too but i believe to prove ones love fo the arts is to try working for directors like wong kar wai.
