Melo should seriously dip out of this one real quick. He doesn't wanna compare his 5th worst playoff win percentage in league history to the newly crowned champion. The same champion, nonetheless, that in his successful championship pursuit, led the entire playoffs in PPG, RPG, APG to cap off one of the most historical runs in postseason history by any pro that's ever picked up a basketball.

I think it has to do with playing Center in the EU/FIBA. The Center uses #15 generally speaking.
I think Melo expected the Nuggets to retire his Jersey. He thought the Nuggets would treat his number like the Lakers did Kobe’s 8/24 immediately after he passed on. Problem is Melo demanded his way out of the team so how can they revere you?

Jokic is one of the strongest centers in NBA history. Two-time MVP, NBA Champion, Finals MVP and more.
Carmelo was a strong player who never won anything, despite being strong, he is not at the level of other champions of the time, such as LeBron, Kobe, Wade and later Kawhi, he was a great player, but nothing more.
Jokic has already written history and still has many years ahead of him.
Carmelo gnaws at him, but he has Denver did nothing of what Jokic did.

As a life long Nugs fan, Jokic > Smello, hands down, everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. Over half of Smello's career in Denver he wasn't even their best player, the two years Iverson was there he was the best player and then Chauncey was the best player for the next 3. Nothing kills an offense more than Anthony demanding an ISO post-up every third possession, it disrupts the flow of the offense and kills other teammate's rhythm. Sure it got him plenty of ESPN highlights, but it's not winning basketball as evidenced by his abysmal playoff record. The only time he was good was when he was on Team USA and that's because that team had so much talent he couldn't demand an ISO all the time, he had to play his position and not just hero-ball it every touch.
I think Billups said that in the locker room Melo would celebrate a loss as long as he got 30 points while he would bitch if they won and he "only" had 20. He never cared about carrying the Nuggets to victory, only to pad his stats.
